My Technivorm recently stopped brewing after about 12 years. I contacted Technivorm in Portland and shipped it off to them with a $59 check. It came back to me in a week cleaned and completely refurbished, ready for another 12 years! They stated to me that this machine should last a lifetime!

They last a long time, and they are easy to fix since all the spare parts are still available. I recently bought KB741 used for 40€ and its really good, no idea how old it is but i'd guess between 10-20 years. I stripped the water tank to pieces since it was really greasy and cleaned all the parts before putting it back together and ran citric acid water and soda water through it few times and now it works like brand new machine.

So happy to read this. I recently went with a Moccamaster after debating between it and a Breville, went with the Moccamaster and been loving it and hearing about how good Technivorm is to customers (combined with the Precision Brewer apparently lasting less than 5 years) has been so nice to hear.

Wow! Cool story! Why can’t we Americans make a quality coffee maker? If we did, would we treat customers like this? MBA’s and attorneys would ensure not. Sad.

Imho the shut off on the brew basket serves two functional purposes. First, I hate people who "steal" a cup of coffee before its done. Shut off is NOT to grab a cup of coffee before it's done brewing, which leaves the remaining coffee weak/ruined or "like tea" as I say. If you want stronger coffee then make stronger coffee DO NOT leave tea for everyone else. So: 1). If your only making like 2-3 cups use the shut it off to fill the basket with enough water to submerge the grinds before opening 1/2 way, and/or during the bloom for full pot of coffee. 2). It is to stop drips. AFTER BREWING HAS COMPLETED! As the grinds are still wet.

I’ve had mine for about five years still working great I did discover by keeping the flow at zero until the coffee grinds are covered in water, it gives a much fuller and richer taste just remember to turn it on after it covers a grinds. LOL

Happy to see Ubora on here! Had the privilege of visiting them about a year and a half ago and was really impressed with the shop and the coffee! Also, just got one of these after years of recommending one. Finally got sick of playing barista on my espresso machine or making multiple batches of pour over for guests. It’s not as perfect as a V60, but for making a liter of coffee it’s pretty darn good.

Good morning, ladies! I love your videos and want to say “Thank you” for always putting out good information. As a coffee lover I’ve researched and decided I need a Technivorm Moccamaster KB 741 OR KBG 741. MY BIG QUESTION: if I’m only brewing 4-6 cups half the week should I worry about a KBG not brewing quite right with its auto basket?

I have that exact same Technivorm, must be about 10 years now. It is hands down legendary as a pour over. I got mine as a gift for my new appartment and love that I got the thermos version. You could have mentioned that the glass has a hot plate instead and that the Thermos one has a little switch. When you take the bot out, the water heating switches off immediately, so no hot water/coffee drips into nothing and onto the counter.

The most important and unique feature of this brewer wasn't even mention. By closing off the filter holder, you can pre-wet the filter and let it brew some before opening it up for the drip. Additionally you can stir the goo to insure a perfect infusion before releasing the drip. This is what makes this brewer unique and the best brewer in the world.

  • @gosman949

@@vojtechpilar5809 that is a big negative Pilar! I can control the extraction, by stirring the coffee while brewing, thus improving the extraction. If I wanted to even take more time, I can stop the brewing at anytime to release the gases in the coffee, and then continue. Nothing automatic about this. Don't knock it until you try it!
