Crafted in the Netherlands, it adds class and function to any kitchen counter.
Using the brewer is simple. Just toss your coffee grounds in a #1 filter, set it in the cone holder, and let the brewer do its only job: make delicious coffee. The brewer can produce up to 300 ml of coffee in just 4 minutes, and will shut off automatically when the brewing is complete.
The Moccamaster One Cup is able to consistently achieve a balanced brew by using a copper heating element that maintains a temperature of 90 - 95 degrees Celsius, which is ideal for coffee brewing, and by the cone-shaped brewing basket, which encourages even extraction of the coffee grounds.
The brewer comes in several colors, features a rotating outlet-arm for quick access to the filter basket, and has a removable cup holder to accommodate mugs with larger bases. It comes with 2 porcelain mugs and 80 #1 filters to get you going right out of the box.

    I have the one cup, and love it. Some people do not like it b/c they find the drip opening gets clogged at time. The prevent the clogs is very simple: after each use, empty the filter/coffee grounds, and rinse with water. Then before you brew your next cup, insert the coffee filter and fill thee filter with water to ensure the plug isn’t clogged, then tilt the filter basket to the side to empty the added water so you can add the ground coffee; if it looked like the filter was clogged when rinsing with water, more times than not you just need to adjust the filter paper by lifting it up, and the ‘clog’ is fixed. With those simple steps, I never get a clogged drip opening, and I always have great coffee.

    I don't understand how a number two filter will work in this machine if it's designed to use a number one filter. Wouldn't you have to fold the paper in order to fit it correctly? I just ordered mine and I'm waiting for it to be shipped and I can't wait to receive it because I got tired of using K cups in my Keurig because I don't think the coffee taste as good as it used to be And I read all of the reviews on this machine watched several videos and I am impressed. I can't wait to receive mine. But again if somebody could explain to me how using a number to filter works in this machine when it's designed for a number one filter I would appreciate it. Thank you.

    Ok as far as I know, MM only makes a number 1 & 4 paper filters. But I do find using the MM #1 can come close to the edges of the paper or occasionally overflow (i mean over the edges not the water spilling out; tho this has happened also). My solution is to use Kalita 102 filters. These are slightly bigger - which even allows me to slightly increase the coffee dose up to 20.5 or even 21.5 grams while keeping the water level same as recommended. Even if it never overflows or clogs, the larger filters provide me peace of mind that i don't have to check for clogging every time i make a coffee with Cup One. By the way, I'm fairly certain the Melitta filters are same size as Kalita 102. Additionally I find that folding the bottom crease on the MM #1 filter makes the height of the filter even shorter so i recommend against this. Otherwise fabulous video!!

    @@paulmillerick4092 thank you so much. I actually bought my machine a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it! I will probably just stick with the filters that come with it and order more. I mean maybe I will buy the Melita number two filters just to see the difference. But I find that the filters the machine comes with I'm able to fill with plenty of coffee to make it strong enough. But I honestly love this machine. I enjoy making my coffee and drinking it every day and what a difference because the coffee is so hot. I wasn't getting that with my Keurig.

I have a larger Moccamaster now which has the same setting I think I used on Cup One which is 19 on Baratza Encore. Coming from having been a daily Kalita Pour Over drinker and now I am happily using the Cup One on a daily basis I can whole heartedly recommend a couple of things. Pre-heat your coffee cup or mug with boiling water. Pre-wet your #1 filter prior to introducing the ground coffee. Use a conical burr grinder for the best coffee grind. I grind it a bit fine and even lightly pack it down in the filter.

    That's got an interesting flip side to you question - Can I taste the difference between a manual brew and a automated one - I believe you could I would say the 1 Cup makes more of a Pour Over style Brew - more compared to a V60 or similar, making smaller batches helps with less inconsistencies. The more you brew with, the small mistakes end up compounding in to the whole brew. I've never actually tried making just 1 cup on the Larger unit - but in general the cups I've enjoyed from these I would say are Batch brew and don't really compare to a single cup pour over - Automated or Manual.

    I have a large mochamaster and a one cup. If making large portions of moccamaster I am not sure if there’s a big difference in flavor, as long as you get the ratio of water/beans the way you want it. As for a large moccamaster making only 1 cup of coffee…. Don’t do it. The one-cup moccamaster is what you’d need for a simple serving. I also find that keeping coffee hot in a thermos makes the coffee lose its subtle notes relatively quickly. So I am not a fan of a thermos for keeping coffee hot all day. I couldn’t tell you how long a coffee tastes good in a thermos, as I’ve never tried having it for up to 30 minutes lasting. I hope that helps!

  • @AlternativeBrewing

    @AlternativeBrewing

    Yes - it sounds like a pressure equilibrium change. You'll always have a little bit of water left either in the boiler - or condensed in the pipe to the filter basket. So when you add water in to the tank - there's like a gust of air that'll be pushed out the pipe and this may cause the water droplets to pool and falls out. Is this what may be happening?

    you may have to pick the hole open with a pin or something first.. they usually come with a pick that will allow you do do this. If it can drain throw with no coffee in it. - just water - than I would consider that it is your Ground coffee that is too fine and acting as a buffer for the passage of water to percolate in to the carafe below. Perhaps try using a coarser ground coffee 👍

    Try sending water through it without a filter. That seems to help, although so far not for more than 6-7 cups. Also, use dental picks--you can get them in any drug store or grocery store--to keep the opening clean. They are ribbed, and that helps keeps the opening clear of flecks of coffee. It's a pain, though, no doubt.

    You can just about see what a huge crater it made in the coffee bed, I’d be able to taste the mix of under and over extraction I’m sure. I bought a cheapie Melita machine to try and streamline the brewing process but at taste wasn’t great at all. Tbh a clever dripper is a pretty automated way

  • @paulnorman8274

    @paulnorman8274

    Жыл бұрын

    @@lewisheard1882 The crater is intentional. It's a small inverted cone of grounds. As the video shows, during most of the brewing, the water level is well above the grounds. Water bypass; through the filter above the ground bed, then alongside the basket wall; is an issue with all conical drippers. It becomes a bigger issue with a smaller coffee dose/grounds-cone. Delivering the water in the middle of the inverted cone of grounds, rather than all across its top surface, increases the amount of grounds each drop of water encounters, on average, before exiting the little hole in the bottom. With a widely dispersing showerhead, more of the water would just flow down the sides, past the grounds altogether. Larger Moccamasters also have a showerhead much narrower than the basket. But since the basket is much bigger, the shower for those need to be a bit bigger than a single hole. For the One Cup, with 15-20 grams of grounds, a single hole water shower was considered optimal. Lots of V60 baristas, do aim for lighter, less gloopy coffee than what a Moccamaster is designed for. With V60, coffee is often ground very fine, restricting flow and requiring little contact time. The end result being almost a drip Americano: Only a portion of the water interacts much with the grounds, but since the grounds are so fine, that's all that's needed to extract them. And then the rest of the water, largely bypasses the grounds altogether, flowing down the sides and out the massive bottom hole. Effectively delivering an almost Americano like final result. While this can result in spectacular tasting coffee if done right, Moccamasters simply aren't designed for that sort of thing.
