What a Birthday! 🎂I did get to see POTO in NYC once on a birthday, so fun! Monique, I'd love to see you sit down with FOH sound and go over the DiGiCo setup for the show. Also, if you have time, see you with the LX crew and tour the lighting rig & console. Love seeing this on any show, especially Phantom. 😊

Thanks Monique. I saw Phantom on the last day, on Sunday matinee. We saw the cast, exit from stage door, we said hello, they signed and collected flowers and cards, and everyone had a lovely final photo on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. I just watched in awe. Loved the show so much, I might follow it to Melbourne. Seen it twice before, late 80's early 90's but this tops it for me. Patrick and I were up in door 30, centre, E row, was amazing to see the chandelier from there. Now on a microphone level;lol I commented to Patrick, are they not wearing mics? Monique you did an amazing job of hiding them for us! As we both come from stage where we learn to project to 4000 people, I wonder about loud projection and microphones, do you have to set the volume lower for this to compensate each voice, to each microphone ? You really got me! As I thought the cast were all projecting! Amazing sound quality. How do you not get reverb, and echo? Truly spectacular. Lovely ink too. ;) Love your attention to detail and varnishing the points was amazing. Could you tell me what mics and setups you use? How do you use a H5 zoom, if at all? Thanks so much for the behind the scenes, passed them on to Patrick for him to learn to... :) In kindred spirit, Eliza Most Beautiful Day, was the final show Sunday Matinee! Thank you so much Eliza! A lot of our cast could definitely get away with not having mics on haha but it wouldn't be sustainable to sing like that 8-9 times a week, a lot of their vocal roles are very demanding, so we're here to help! Hiding them is a lot of fun, we do the best we can to make sure they're as discreet as possible but still in the best position for the sound quality. We use very small DPA microphones, you can see them a bit closer in my maintenance video here --> kzread.info/dash/bejne/aXiNxbF-qd2pidI.html as well as a couple of different ways we put them on cast! Most people wear them through their hair/under their wig caps to sit on their forehead, the Phantom has them stuck above his eyebrow to avoid all of his prosthetics and mask and we also have some ear rigs for people who don't have hair!

@@monique_tech 8 or 9 times a week, that is nuts! I did a 6 week show that was Wed matinee, Friday, Sat and Sunday matinee. 4 times is reasonable. That was a long time ago, when I was 20, Talk about working you all to the bone. We only did 6 weeks to rehearse. No wonder you are all tired! Do you get a break now, before it starts in Melbourne? Lets hope so! Eliza xx

Monique, I just discovered your channel, and I am LOVING these videos and the look into what it takes to put on POTO. Thank you! I did have one question though. Does the Phantom's mask introduce any complication in micing the performer? I would imagine that the mask has to be set off from the performer's actual skin around the cheek and jaw so as not to rub and create a sound that the mic picks up. Is that an issue, or one that I dreamed up in my mind? Thank you again for the amazing look inside the production. Subscribed!

Thanks so much! The mask wasn't a huge issue, we placed the mic above the eyebrow on the side the mask didn't cover very much out of the way of any scratching. There's photos of the mic up over on my instragram!
