After Dumbledore’s death, Fawkes was never seen at hogwarts again. He had stayed all these years because of his loyalty to Dumbledore. Hogwarts never heard the phoenix song again. Fun fact: the phoenix feather that’s in Harry’s and Voldemort’s wands are Fawkes feathers

Keep in mind, when Dumbledore fought against Voldemort in the Ministry, he was aware that Voldemort had at least one Horcrux, he just didn't know how many. So he wasn't trying to kill him, he knew if he did, he'd only become fickle again, harder to trace. Personally, I think in a 1vs1 without a Horcrux, Dumbledore fairly easily takes the fight. His only goal in that moment was stalling so that the auror's would come and confirm that Voldemort was indeed back.

Magic of any kind is also illegal to use. Hermione was able to use the confundus charm on Cormac because it was just a tryout, not an actual event. Not sure how they would know but there might be some type of magical detection system in place. On the other hand, if there were Quirrel's spell on Harry's broom in the first movie would have been noticed.

All magical children start to display uncontrolled magic powers when they're young, it's not specific to Harry and Volkswagen.

The reason why Snape is Half Blood Prince is not only because of his muggle father, but also because his mum's maiden name was Eileen Prince. The name suggest it was likely aristocratic pure-blood family. It also hints at the most famous book of Niccolò Machiavelli "The Prince", which is known as a manual to power by cunning, scheming and unscrupulous methods.

His father was also an awful person. Granted, Half-Blood Prince sounds way cooler than Half-Blood Snape, but I also think the nickname was a way of distancing himself from his abusive father. Remus also said he never used the nickname publicly,so I think it was just like a comfort thing for him personally, like a reminder that he is his mother's son despite having his father's name

Because at the end of the last movie, Malfoy try to get the "prophecy" and failed and got capture and sent to Azkaban, Voldemort being who he is, give Draco the "opportunity" to bring his family honor back. If you think about it, Voldemort sent a 16 year old with the mission to killed a wizard that even himself was afraid of, he knew Draco was not going to be able to do it, he just wanted to humiliate the Malfoys even more.

Wow I've watched these movies for so many years now and didn't see it that way. It's so fun learning how others pick up on stuff or see it in a different way. I knew he was punishing Lucius failing but I didn't imagine Voldy knew Draco wouldn't be able to do it and when he doesn't he can further punish Lucius by unaliving Draco if he fails. 😮

Everyone starts Harry Potter with such innocence and like, ok sure a happy story about a kid wizard whatever it’s cute, and then fast forward to Goblet of Fire and the tears just keep on coming with each subsequent book/movie lol When it came out we all grew up alongside the characters so it kind of lined up perfectly to set us free as adults when the seventh book and then movie came out. It was super weird to just be like, “so… it’s over now?” because it had been a decade of our childhood/adolescence. The end of HBP felt like a shockwave. For books 5, 6, and 7 everyone who got them the weekend they were released had to hole up for the day because people started doing spoilers everywhere. So I remember my college campus was empty the weekend book 7 came out because everyone was inside reading it lol what a time to be alive

That guy was in fact a werewolf. His name is Fenrir Greyback and he was the werewolf who turned Lupin. It's not a spoiler because they don't include this in the movies for some reason.

@@jarius3604 I found it really weird that movie-Neville apparently cannot see them die while book-Neville told Umbridge during her investigation of Hagrid's calls that he saw his grandfather die and could therefore see them. Later in the Death Chamber he is the third one who can hear the whisper behind the veil. IIRC he is the only one not wanting to walk through it and it is left open if he fears it or isn't drawn towards it like the other two.

The two Harry and Luna scenes are more about setting up Luna and connecting her to Harry since she's just being introduced, whereas Neville has been there from day one. Later at the veil, she says she hears it too so we know it's not just a Harry thing, but a death thing. You don't need a third person to chime in for that.

Fun fact: Tom Riddle as a child is played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin, whose uncle Ralph Fiennes plays adult Voldemort. And I really recommend the audiobooks. Half-Blood Prince, in particular, goes into Tom Riddle’s family background, which this movie didn’t. His family was, shall we say, “interesting”.

When I read the book the first time last year when I decided to read the whole series the story of his family, his mother's side was crazy and I got mad they left it out of the movie! Hoping the new series will include all the bits that were taken out from the movies

On the horcruxes, the book gives us more explanation. Dumbledore assumes that Voldy was obsessed with the magical number 7, so he wanted to divide his soul into 7 parts specifically. 1 part is Voldemort Prime - the part inside his body. So there must be 6 horcruxes, according to Dumbledore’s logic. We saw the diary and the ring (Dumbledore actually destroyed the ring already, and Harry destroyed the Diary). SO it means Harry must find 4 more

The reason Dumbledore knew it was dragons blood is because he's the one who invented and wrote the book "12 Uses Of Dragons Blood!" 😋

The rock in the sea looked familiar to you because there was a picture of it on the wall in the memory where Dumbledore first met Tom Riddle in his room. That place held meaning to Tom Riddle and I believe he hurt two other kids in the cave which is how Dumbledore knew to go there to find a horcrux.

They make Ron so dirty in the movies. Hermione and Harry were top of the class of potion and were always invited to Slughorn's parties and that make him feel left out. Then he saw Ginny kissing Dean and went to told her to "do it in private" and she got upset and told him that he would not be acting like this if wsn't because he has never had a girlfriend unlike Harry that had Cho and Hermione that had Viktor Krom. Ron felt so bad that Hermione never told him that she dated Viktor so he stop talking to her. Harry actually told BOTH of them that he didn't put liquid luck in Ron's glass, thinking this would calm everything but it backfired and Ron told Hermione that she never believed he could be good at something and went on to celebrate and then star dating Lavander. Without this context he looks like just dumb and bad overall.

There’s a lot of actors from GOT in Harry Potter, Malfoy’s friend in POA was a member of the Nights Watch who was killed in the first episode, Slughorn appears later on, Luna’s father is in House of The Dragon and possibly more

Professor Dumbledore's death was one of the most traumatic for Harry to witness. Right alongside his parents' murder at the hands of Voldemort when he was 15 months old, Cedric Diggory at the ratty (pun fully intended) hands of Wormtail during the last task of the Triwizard Tournament in that graveyard, and Sirius dying at the hands of his psychotic cousin Bellatrix Lestrange before he disappeared into the Veil in the Ministry Of Magic. Also, this is one of the few times Ron is shown to be intelligent in the movies. The scene on the Hogwarts Express where he's explaining the Unbreakable Vow to Harry, specifically. The wizard's chess scenes from Philosopher's Stone is another. I think another good example is the good questions he was asking in Chamber Of Secrets when Harry found that crumpled up book page in Hermione's hand.

I dont know if anyone already said about this, but when harry and Dumbledore returned from the cave and Dumbledore realized what was gonna happen, he said to harry to get under the invisibility cloak and petrified him. Thats why he didn't interferred.

That is only thing that was never really touched on in the books. It is speculated that maybe Lilly knew how to fly. When she jumped from the swing she knew what she was doing to glide down gently. Snape could have learned from her and taught Tom how to. It is also hinted that Harry may have dormant flying ability. When he was being chased by bullies he found himself on the roof of the school

Context for Felix Felicis and getting expelled: Like in our world, doping is illegal in wizard sporting events.

I’ve seen other reviewers criticize Serious’s death and others because they feel so abrupt and unable to process, but I’ve always felt that that’s probably how it feels for Harry. He doesn’t really have time to process any of this because he’s always on guard, dealing with Voldemort and learning in order to prepare for Voldemort. He doesn’t even get a break when he’s sleeping.

Snape is the son of the Pureblood witch Eileen Prince who was disinherited by her family when she married a Muggle, so Snape is literally a Halblood and a Prince. His Muggle father Tobias Snape turned into a violent drunk after finding out his wife and his little son were magical and Eileen was too downbeaten to protect herself or her son from her husbands rage. In the book Harry is fascinated by the brilliant and mysterious Halfblood Prince who was an obvious prodigy at potions already improving recipes at such an young age and even inventing his own spells while still a student. Harry tries for the whole year to find out who he is. You realized correctly that there a many parallels between Harry and Voldemort - both orphans, abandoned and unloved by their family, Hogwarts being the only place to call home, intelligent and magically powerful, forced to grow up quickly without the help of adults - but there is another one who fits all of this - Snape. BTW - I am impressed you caught that little interaction in the tower between Dumbledore and Snape - most overlook it completely and you even realized that the cliff looks familiar! (if you did not figured it out where you saw it before - a postcard in little Tom Riddles room at the orphanage 🙂 You have an really great eye for details.

To add and echo regarding the Horcruxes, as the book goes into further detail. Dumbledore always had his suspicions about Horcruxes from the very beginning and became almost certain after Harry presented him with Riddle’s destroyed diary in Chamber of Secrets. The memory from Slughorn confirmed Dumbledore’s additional suspicion: Riddle made more than 1 Horcrux, likely 7 of them In the book, we get a bunch of other memories which Dumbledore uses to display: 1) Riddle always liked collecting “trophies” as a child and 2) the various objects he would have likely used to store his soul In theory, a Wizard would only ever need 1 well protected Horcrux. If your body is destroyed, your fragmented soul is tethered to the earth. All you need to do is get your body back. But Riddle wanted the ultimate insurance policy: he wanted 7 total Horcruxes as 7 is an auspicious magical number. Therefore he would split himself into 8 pieces: 1 in his body and 7 in the Horcruxes Through the memories they explore, and given what they encountered thus far, Dumbledore and Harry piece together that 1) The diary is a Horcrux and is now destroyed 2) The ring which once belonged to Salazar Slytherin and was passed down to the Gaunt family (Riddle’s maternal side) is now destroyed by Dumbledore (but it injured his hand They then theorized that Voldemort would have wanted items significant to the Hogwarts Founders. 3) There is a locket also belonging to Salazar Slytherin. This is the one they thought they got, but it was a fake. Someone else got there first (and knows about Voldemort’s Horcrux secret) and the status of the Horcrux is now unknown (as of this movie) 4) Riddle encountered a goblet which belonged to Helga Hufflepuff, therefore Dumbledore and Harry believed this to be another Horcrux 5) Then they theorized he must have gotten something belonging to Ravenclaw (but unsure of what) 6) And he must have been angling for something from Gryffindor- but the only two known artifacts of his are the sword and the Sorting Hat and therefore they believe Riddle never was able to make this one 7) They believe his snake, Nagini, is also a Horcrux as she is more connected to Voldemort than any other kind of snake could be Therefore, they theorized Voldemort only ever made 6 Horcruxes 1) The diary (destroyed) 2) The ring (destroyed) 3) The locket (MIA) 4) Hufflepuff’s goblet (location unknown) 5) Something of Ravenclaw’s (object unknown and location unknown) 6) Nagini (almost always at Voldemort’s side) It was theorized Harry would be Voldemort’s next major kill to form his 7th Horcrux. It would have been truly auspicious because Voldemort’s only reason to kill Harry was because of the Prophecy, which Voldemort learned only half of it (from Snape, in fact). Voldemort only knew a boy born at the end of July (Harry) would have the power to vanquish him. He *didn’t* hear the next part of the Prophecy which became crucial: by attacking Harry, the prophecy becomes self fulfilling. By attacking Harry, Voldemort “marked him as his equal” and set events into motion for Harry to be the “Chosen One.” The fan theory is that Voldemort was hoping to kill the Potters and, in their moment of need, the sword of Gryffindor would appear to them and he’d kill Harry and make the sword his 7th and final Horcrux. Obviously, Lily’s sacrifice caused the spell to backfire and the killing curse destroyed his body. He only managed to come back to a corporeal form thanks to the behind the scenes efforts of Peter Pettigrew and thanks to the ritual in the Graveyard and the use of Harry’s blood: his weakened corporeal form came to full strength and he’s back in action (albeit 2 Horcruxes down and 4 to go). That’s why Voldemort looks so monstrous: his soul has been voluntarily mutilated. It’s also why love and remorse and so on are even *more* insufferable for Voldemort (and the reason he can no longer peer into Harry’s mind or possess him). Harry’s blood might allow Voldemort to touch and attack Harry with magic (otherwise without it, Lily’s sacrifice would continue to protect him), but Voldemort’s mutilated soul is repulsed by love and remorse and so on. That’s the only way to repair a mutilated soul and voluntarily undo a Horcrux: true remorse (which would be excruciating and pain beyond death for anyone who makes a Horcrux, let alone 6 of them in Voldemort’s case) Anyway, if all of Voldemort’s tethers are destroyed: all that’s left is Voldemort himself. Anywho, definitely check out the books! I can assure you that even though you know what’s coming: all the extra details make it worth it *and* it’s a joy each and every time

If you listen to the audiobooks, do the Jim Dale version. Stephen Fry is great but Jim Dale did it first and quite simply did it best.

The portal is the veil of death, if you cross it you die and can never come back. In the books Bellatrix doesn't use avada kadavara on Sirius she uses expelliarmus on him and he falls through the portal.

8:55 He is THE warewolf that bit Lupin as a kid because Lupin's father refused to join Voldemort. 34:18 You can see a picture of this cave in the first memory when Dumbledore first visit's Tom in Wool's orphanage and there is a picture of this cave in Tom's room.

So, I'm not a linguist, but I think "tosser" comes from "toss pot," which referred to the night pot, where people peed at night in their homes before indoor plumbing. In the morning, they'd take the waste in the pot and toss it into the gutter of the street. I'm not sure if a tosser refers to the chore, the person performing the chore, or the waste itself, but I'm pretty sure that's where it comes from.

I don't know if it's been shared in any of your other reviews (comments), but it's explained in the books: Volkswagen wanted to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts and was denied, he then cast a spell on the position of DADA that no one would last more than a year.

36:27 in the books, the fight between Voldemort and Dumbledore is actually pretty different - in the movie they are evenly matches, countering each others magic. In the book, its basically Dumbledore throwing magic and countering Voldemorts attacks while Voldemort defends himself. It’s less dramatic in the book so I understand why they changed it up for the movie, but reading the book you do get the sense why Dumbledore was the only person Voldemort feared.

Harry gave Ron a bezoar to cure the poison. He only knew that bezoars could do that because he read it in one of the the Half-Blood Prince's notes.

This isn't explained in the movies and it's only mentioned briefly in the books, but Voldemort was conceived as a result of "coerced love", that is, his mother used a love potion on his father and they conceived while he was under the effects of it. After she stopped giving him the potion, he abandoned her and returned to his village. She died shortly after giving birth to Voldemort. Because of this, Voldemort doesn't know love, doesn't understand love, and is incapable of knowing love. "If he could only have understood the precise and terrible power of that sacrifice, he would not, perhaps, have dared to touch your blood... but then, if he had been able to understand, he could not have been Lord Voldemort, and might never have murdered at all." - Dumbledore, talking about Voldemort's inability to comprehend love when talking about the sacrificial protection Harry received from his mother.

In the HBP book Dumbledore assumed that Tom specifically wanted to create 6 horcruxes so there will be 7 parts of his soul: 6 horcruxes and 7th in himself. It always was important for Tom to do meaningful things as 7 being very magical and powerful number. To make a horcrux you don't just have to kill a person. You also have to make a very dark ritual (some people assume the ritual contains eating a part of the victim's body). So the number of your horcruxes is not necessary the same as the number of people you've murdered. For now we have two horcruxes destroyed: Tom's diary and Tom's mother's ring destroyed by Dumbledore

Dumbledore didn't went all offensive on Voldy. Dumbledore's goal was to distract Voldy until the Minstry of Magic shows up so that they would believe that Voldy is back.

Yes, there were signs for the Harry and Ginny thing in 5. When Harry decides to hang back to talk to Cho, the twins stsrt talking to him and he brushes them off, them you see Ginny with an angry look on her face. All the way back to #2, when Ron says that Ginny had been talking about Harry all summer 😅 She's been in love with him forever.

In the book Bellatrix does the avadakedrava curse but Sirius was not hit by it, trying to avoid it he accidently fell in the vail, is the vail to the other side, in short words he went straight to death. Harry also thought Sirius was going to re-appear so went running to the vail but Lupin caugh him in time and told him that there is no way to save Sirius.

That is almost correct. She didn't use the killing curse. She used a non-lethal one that hit him and he fell into the portal.

The reason why dumbledore didnt use such powerful spells against voldemort in the 5th movie, like he did in this one is because he knew he couldnt kill him for ever and he knew that voldi would return. But in the book he played with him with such a coolness and had so much more power than voldi. In the movie it looks like dumbledore struggles against voldi and they are equal but they arent, dumbledore really played with him in the book 😂 he is a badass

yup, the reason why I like James more than Snape, is because no matter how arrogant and disobedient James is he never crossed over to the dark side, he even joined as a member of the order, unlike Snape who crossed over to that side, and even after growing up and becoming a teacher he did bad things to his students just because he was bullied in the past. OK, maybe he hated Harry because he was too much like his father, but he turned a blind eye to the fact that Harry wasn't as arrogant as his father, he even acted mean to other students (let alone Neville) who had never had any dealings with him, mocking him for being incompetent, not even acknowledged Hermione's obvious intelligence. in the book harry argues with dumbledore asking what really makes him believe that snape has changed and repented. It was pretty emotional.

In the book, it explains that voldemort wanted to split his soul into 7 pieces (it's a magic number), so there would be 6 horcruxes and then himself.

At the end of Order of the Phoenix, Dumbledore seems much more powerful than in the film adaptation. Much more calm and confident

There are only seven parts of Voldemort’s soul. The soul doesn't split every time you kill someone specifically to create a Horcrux! Yes, the soul is spoiled! But it only splits when you need to create a horcrux!

There you have it, possibly the heaviest moment in the whole movie series (but that doesn't mean the heavy moments are over)! So, in the books it's heavily implied that bellatrix used the stupefy (stunning) spell, causing Sirius to fall into the veil, I like this better because I don't think bellatrix wanted to kill Sirius because of her pure blood mania, as he was the last person carrying her pure blood family name. The blacks were one of the Noble pure blood families. Harry didn't believe that Sirius died in the books and kept screaming for Sirius and tried to go through the veil himself (the veil between the living and the dead) while remus holds him back. Harry believes that Sirius is really dead when he realized that Sirius would never keep him waiting and ignore his screams like that. At the end of the school year, he talks to nearly headless Nick, the gryffiindor house ghost, hoping that Sirius would return as a ghost. Nick informs him that Sirius is not returning as he wouldve "moved on"

In the story there is gone be much more plot twists. The story is crazy and at the end all get answered.

There are 7 horcruxes. The diary from the chamber of secrets and the ring that cursed Dumbledore's hand are destroyed. There are 5 left and I won't spoil what they are.

The ring was indeed a horcrux and Dumbledore destroyed it already. In this movie he says to Harry something like "difficult to find, even more difficult to destroy" and then he raises his blackened hand.

So happy to see this! I’ll pop some popcorn & settle down to watch. There are a couple of important things that are discussed in the books but only alluded to in the movie. First, Voldemort did not expect Draco to succeed in getting rid of Dumbledore. He gave the boy the job as punishment for Lucius Malfoy’s failures, The diary Horcrux was destroyed in Lucius’s plot to open the Chamber of Secrets & then he failed to retrieve the prophecy from the Dept. of Mysteries. Voldemort was furious so he gave Draco a job he thought the boy couldn’t accomplish then told the Malfoys that he would kiII the boy if he failed. That’s why Narcissa Malfoy went to Snape. Snape knew about the plan because Voldemort, believing Draco would fail, told him with the understanding that Snape would do it after Draco tried. Second, everyone who watches the movies but doesn’t read the books is confused about the Horcruxes. Tom Riddle asked Slughorn about splitting his SOUL into 7 pieces. One piece has to remain in his body so he planned to create SIX Horcruxes. He had already made one -the ring he was wearing-so he needed to know if it was safe to split his soul again. Once Slughorn confirmed it was possible to split the soul more than once young Tom Riddle set out to make 5 more. It was the original part of his tattered soul that fled the Potter’s house after the failed attack on baby Harry. Voldemort’s body was destroyed so that piece of his soul fled to Albania & hid. Quirrel stumbled upon it while he was in Albania studying vampires & bought it back to Britain. It was that piece of his soul that Pettigrew used to resurrect Voldemort in Goblet of Fire.

No, it’s not the maximum, I don’t think there is the known limit, cause before voldy, others created only 1 horcrux. He was the first to split his soul more than once
