the first part is about her grandfather who fought in the war, and she links that to how doctors/ nurses etc are going through that same trauma now during the pandemic, and yeah you're right about the 'only 20 minutes to sleep' , it's referring to the long shifts etc. it's really touching and the music makes me emotional for some reason

Thank you! I can see that. This song did make me feel like I was watching someone die and there was nothing I could do about it. I wasn't consumed by it but it was an idea that played through my head.

Please react to All too Well. As a swifty, personally, sometimes your casual honesty is hard to take in because u were dissing songs that i like lol. But i've learnt to accept that not everybody shares my choice of music/songs. Epiphany is one of those songs i really love n cry to almost everytime i listen to it because it tells stories of how the soldiers in WW2 n frontliners during covid19. Here's are some facts about epiphany - Swift's grandfather Dean fought in the Battle of Guadalcanal during World War II. The military campaign took place between August 1942 and February 1943 on and around the beaches of the island of Guadalcanal, one of the main Pacific Solomon Islands. Like the doctors and nurses working without sleep or rest to help keep people safe and alive, the World War II soldiers endured mental anguish and physical exhaustion. Swift parallels the pressure both sets of workers endure as they help patients and serve their country while witnessing trauma and death. Hopes 👆🏻 the info will help u understand more about the song when u listen to it again ☺️. Looking forward for more of Taylor Swift on your channel. N pls pls pls react to ALL TOO WELL. It's our favorite n there's this line that i really want u to.. Umm think about n share your thought with me/us.. Stay safe n hopes to see u soon 💖

I would recommend her new album ‘evermore’ it has similar feel as folklore. She said it’s a sister album.

If anyone out there is old like me they will hear echoes of a 1980’s Kate Bush magnificence in this song. Epiphany is the most ethereal piece of beauty I’ve heard in a long while. I’m not a Swift listener but this song …. Wow.

This album impressed me. I don't know the song you are talking about but I listen to a lot of older music.

Were you referring to Monty Python? In referencing why they didn't do more... I felt the topic of trauma in war or an ICU lends itself for allowing space and emptiness because it's so traumatizing that you can't speak too much about it. It's more of a felt sense. The space in the music also allows for the modern day listener to perhaps get a bit anxious that not more is going on and that echoes the anxieties felt in these traumatizing events. I don't know for sure of course just rambling ideas on why they might make that choice.

That is the show! Thank you! You could be right. It could be anything. It will affect listeners differently so there is no perfect answer ever which is a perfectly good reason not to overthink these decisions and it certainly might be the easier one anyway.

@@JSteezy Yes, however I do think it's interesting to examine the music and production choices artists make. Question how those choices effect you as a listener. It's especially interesting to contemplate if you yourself are an artist of some sort. Wondering how a mood is captured and created.

I’d also add that “ some things you can’t speak about” has a literal sense with hipaa laws and confidentiality. It created a sense of isolation for us on the front lines in health care during Covid

A little backwards. Monty Python comedy group was writing the wake of WWII. Everyone in their audience understood flesh wound as a military medical designation for a wound that wasn’t severe enough get you pulled from combat. The unfortunate truth is that many many soldiers were told “it’s just a flesh wound; here’s your riffle” and sent back out to the frontlines to die because their superiors either didn’t care, or needed the manpower. I believe that’s the case in the song given we next hear “Sir, I think he’s bleeding out”. Obviously spoken to a superior officer in the field rather than a medic in the tent. The Monty Python specialized in irreverent humor. That particular sketch required 3 levels of absurdism to lighten the dark premise. First is removing it from the modern war context, second is the outrageous nature of the wound. (A limb is missing and the blood is jetting from the stump.) Third is that it’s not a superior officer or medic insisting he’s fighting fit, it’s the victim.
