the song in the fisrt part is talking about her grandfather going to war and what that would feel like for him, however, the second part of the song is her drawing a parallel between that and present day like a nod to healthcare workers and what they had being going through during covid. It´s mostly her way of trying to understand present day (as we all are) and hoping there's something bigger there, not just tragedy.

"Something med school did not cover" I think that line is referring to med school not covering a global pandemic. I definitely hear a sound imitating a heart monitor and the "breath in, breathing out" lines must be from watching someone on a ventilator. I cry almost every time I hear this song.

Crazy detail, and wow. So many people are on the front lines trying to do their very best to support us. Such sacrifice.

You’re right on the assumption about the war; her grandfather served and he almost didn’t make it back. We wouldn’t have Tay if he hadn’t survived. She also talks about Covid and the toll on those fighting in the front lines to help patients keep their lives. Every time I’ve heard that song I’ve cried, my nephew is in nursing school and he’s been working in the front lines of Covid and it does take a toll on them and their families. Thanks for the reaction.

Wow WG it's my pleasure, and thank you to your nephew for truly being a hero, selfless, and using his life to help others. That is truly amazing and so awesome. Much love!

It’s also a tribute to medical stuff - to doctors and nurses who risk their lives to help sick people with covid-19. They’ve only got ‘20 minutes to sleep but you dream of some epiphany, just one single glimpse of relief to make some sense of what you’ve seen...’ And the song faded out in hearbeat on the life saving machine in the hospital. The nurses also ‘ holds your hand through plastic now...’. ♥️. This song is so underrated and the lyrics has a deep meaning . ♥️ Thank you for your reaction and thank you for appreciating this beautiful song ♥️

It's my pleasure! Thank you for checking out the video and commenting. I didn't catch the heartbeats there at the end, but what a beautiful tribute.

Loved this reaction. Just subscribed! I cried the first time i heard the bridge about having an epiphany "to make some sense of what you've seen" -- which i think means seeing so many deaths happening with your own eyes (as a soldier and as a health worker). I love this song so much. The simple lyrics and the church-y vibe of the song allow you to expand your imagination and ultimately feel empathy for these "soldiers" who start to question why they're doing what they're doing amidst many deaths. The image of a health worker taking a break from their duties and "dream of some epiphany" to kind of escape from a hellish war is very moving

Thank you Rae, I greatly appreciate it. Also, this song is so beautiful and deep with the lyrics. I think Taylor was able to connect the sound, lyrics, and emotion of the song so well with the current times as well as history. So beautiful.

I believe she is comparing doctors and nurses in the cover pandemic to soldiers on the battlefield. The beeping noise in the background is the sound a ventilator makes

First verse is about war, the second one is about doctors and more specifically the current pandemic. The meaning of the song and what ties these two professions is in the bridge, how the both of them see terrible things that they can't speak about, and how they just hope for some epiphany to make some sense of all the horrible things they have had to witness, some revelation to understand why the horrors of war/covid have had to happen

Want country? Taylor Swift started as a country artist at age 14. I think " Tim McGraw" was her first, I love the video to " Love Story" a take on Romeo & Juliet.

Her grandfather Dean went to war and this song is definitely about it. But I think she also chose to release a song about it now due to the times we're living in. I've heard and read on the internet how those lyrics really moved frontline workers.
