This video has absolutely nothing to do with Nightwish yet there are still childish discussions which singer is better. Of course Tarja sang this song technically better because she has many years of classical training whereas Floor had only one year of classical training. It's so sad that some Tarja and Floor's fanatics just can't help but bash the other singer. It's ridiculous. I don't mind respectful criticism but unfortunately many of those fanatics are just being rude for no reason.

@@adriennfloratoth8512 Funny I just read opposite from a opera expert user! The strong and dark timbre by Tarja gives unique light to this aria. For bright version we have the unmatchable Caballé o even Callas. But is just a matter of taste I guess. Even so is very brave to say that Floor, that don't have appropriate training on lyrical singing, sing better this aria. Not to say reckless.

She is AMAZING! the Queen!

Her voice is amazing

She's got that wonderful sense of space in her singing that I've noticed in Eastern and Northern European singers that give that extra oomph to their performances. Many so called classical "divas" would do well to take a few notes from Tarja. Thrilling performance from a great lady.

@@jackskellington9570 lol wut... if you think Floor beat Tarja out this you're purposely engaging in active bias for your fave and not listening with a critical ear for your fave. Floor is not and never has been as good as Tarja at operatic and classical, she can barely handle anything but yelling with rasp as it is. Her recent GLS sucks and is strained and rough, her recent stargazers is butchered, she literally loses control and hacks in gethsemane..all these classical operatic leaning songs sounds like trash now. Tarja isn't perfect but a damn sight better than Floor attempts at classical these days. Sorry, just learn to cope with that fact. Floor is still fun to listen to but let's not pretend she can outdo Tarja in the operatic arena and I won't pretend Tarja can rock style rasp and yell better than Floor. In 5 yrs floor prob won't be able to sing clear and clean at all, and Tarja will because she doesn't harm her voice with gritty screechings and bad technique.

In every scenario Jack with classical. Floor just don't have experience singing classical style, and only one year of training. That's why Tuomas won't have her sing NW-songs in classical style either. You like more Floor's contemporary singing, I know. Fine, but you only make yourself fool trying to sell her good classical style singer. Floor says herself she doesn't sing classical style, nor does she like it.

@@Aurinkohirvi Yes I make myself sound like the fool be calling you all our for being lying fanboy fools. Not every single classical piece or not sounds better with Tarja. And Floor used to perform and use her classical singing frequently for many years. It was a huge part of after forever. In which after forever is only one year younger than Nightwish and just as well helped pioneer the metal Opera scene. Tarja is the overall better classical singer... Obviously... And especially for many years that was more heavily dependant on it being live than her strictly being better until she finally advanced much more into her classical lessons. But even then Floor could just pull off certain notes better.

very, very nice voice to hear but does some unsettling things with her face while singing that I cannot look at.

hm Tarja sings the higher notes clearer, but in the deeper notes, she is a bit weaker than Floor, both are great in this one. A duet would be a dream

Her low notes are very rich actually, because her voice is deeper and warmer than Floor, Floor is brighter and lighter. Therefore, her low range is not as wide. The only thing she probably would need to tweak is the pace, let it flow a little smoother and the vibrato a little faster.

She has an astonishing voice but lacking the training needed. She fails when trying to go from lower to higher pitch, but she shows a beautiful tone when there's no major changes in pitch

@@adriennfloratoth8512 i know monterrat, callas,etc. they are well known .My own problem witj floor singing the aria is that although she could do it in a light voice, she lacks vibrato whilst compared to tarja, but tarja also has problems with her passagio, it's a matter of taste whom I like the version of this aria, but definitely I will chose montserrat and callas in classical singing rather than Turunen and Jansen

@@alvinjudetrono1624 That kind of slow, powerful vibrato is one of the characteristics of dramatic and spinto sopranos, meanwhile lyric sopranos' vibrato is much less strong and much more fast. It's not a level down for her, just the existence of different voice types. Floor can sing very well in her passagio (see Shoemaker ending), and I personally find Tarja's vibrato really out-of-place in here, but nevertheless, you are right about that it's a matter of taste. And yep, Montserrat and Callas are and are totally amazing:). (But even if you like Tarja's version much better, saying "when I heard Floor singing this, just like a carabao being slaughtered" was really mean, especially it's about simple personal taste.)

All the tone-deaf people who think Floor is a beter singer, need to listen to this, then compare it to Floor's atempt (or shuld i call it butchery). Tarja RULES! Love!

Aurinkohirvi fake she sang lyrical from her 17s and she’s continue studying her voice with Amanda Somerville! She’s far away of been new classical singer but she make many thinks wrong, Tarja beside has a degree in Solis’s as a classical singer with a specialization in church music, it’s notorios Tarja it’s a good music sheet reader, Floor isn’t. But I love Floor like she is, I don’t spect her singing classical as I spect classical from voices like Tarja and Dianne

@@liricobarroco Floor says herself she rarely ever sings classical, and she doesn't even like the way it is sung. Can't see any classical education with Somerville. Her degree is from psychology, she is a musician whose own production is mostly has performed with pop, and rock, with some folk, rock, hard rock and soul influences according to Wikipedia. Put Floor sing next with a classical singer, you should certainly be a ble to tell she isn't good in it. I get it people who have not listened classical singers might think she is. A few vocal coaches have made comments of Floors CLASSICAL skills, and they all found her lacking. I can post the quotes and give links, if you want.

I discovered her in Beste Zangers. At that time I only knew a few old Nightwish songs with Tarja, which I liked. I haven't listened to NW for a long time. Then I found out that Floor is actually their "new" vocalist so I started watching newer videos which... daaaamn, they are awesome. Unfortunately, I also discovered old NW fans who seem to be one of the most obnoxious and toxic trolls on youtube. Of course not all, but there is a certain subset of them which are really annoying f*cks, whining and moaning below every Floor's video.

@@cancelled_user You saying that you just found Nightwish says pretty much all. You cannot understand how much the band changed and how Tarja was essential for their symphonic metal sound. They are a folk rock band now. And no, I don't waste my time scrolling through Floor videos. I do see newbie band fans and Floor fanboys everywhere on Tarja videos... never really understood why... if it was a Nightwish with Tarja video, I could give them the benefit of the doubt but solo Tarja career? Damn... if you don't like her and you come here just to say that and blabb about Floor, it really makes no sense. Why waste your time?

What I actually don't like is that particular subset of super-obnoxious old NW fans who throw their toxic shit all over youtube like baboons. Second, I did NOT say Nightwish is new to me. Learn to read, OK? I clearly said, quote: "I only knew a few old Nightwish songs with Tarja, which I liked." Do you understand??? I knew Nightwish yeeeears ago, then stopped listening to them. Now I started again. I didn't know who was or wasn't their singer after Tarja or even when Tarja left or got sacked or whatever. But I knew some songs from the era when Tarja was the singer. What is new to me is Floor, not Nightwish. And why I'm here? Because someone posted link to this video below other video, that's why. Mystery solved. @@LigeiaNoire Btw, you said Tarja was "detrimental" for their symphonic metal sound? Are you sure you know what detrimental means? Anyways, I've watched videos with Floor from Wacken 2013 and even without Tarja it still doesn't sound like "folk rock" to me. Surely, not all songs are the same style. For example, Ghost Love Score has some celtic vibes in the middle of the song and that's regardless of who is singing it. There are parts without vocals, just music, so even Tarja would hardly change what it sounds like. Floor can do some classical voice here and there which is nice, but she doesn't want to do it all the time, she said it's not really her favourite thing. To me it's actually a good thing if she's doing it just here and there, because I love her transitions from one type of singing to another within a second. And her strong high pitched belts give me goosebumps (repeatedly). Can't remember if I ever experienced this with Tarja's versions. That doesn't mean Tarja is not good. They're simply different.

Tarja tiene un timbre precioso y su técnica en el campo clásico está mejorando mucho... pero la verdad es que no siempre hace buenas elecciones de repertorio para sus conciertos de música clásica y esta pieza es el claro ejemplo ._.

I prefer Floor's version. Is so very more dramatic!

no me gusto,tarja en el metal es la diosa, cantando arias de opera se oye igual que anette tratando de cantar sus exitos de nightwish, en el canto lirico si hay verdderas diosas que la opacan , ana netrebko, rene fleming, diana damrau, por citar algunas

¿Han escuchado de verdad a sopranos como Antonietta Stella, la Tebaldi, la Callas...? Esto está feo, su fiato es fatal, no tiene control sobre la columna de aire. Su afinación es muy buena, pero la interpretación y el fraseo están horribles. Ese jadeo es producto de su pésimo fiato.
