Who said Malayali people depend on KOK's reviews?? Nothing like that. It's all about the content. If the content is good it's sure that the film will move on to success. The audience will accept the movie, and also the way you market the movie. Because there were more good movies in Malayalam but still there was no good marketing for the film causing washout from the theatre. The pulse of the Malayalam audience is different - if Mammootty or Mohanlal try stopping a train with their hand or jumping from a bridge to enter the train, shots like that can get huge howls from the audience. Also, paranormal activity films are not acceptable by the audience. If the content is good and the director is making superstitious things in the film, the Malayali audience won't accept it. On the other hand, the same thing shown in Tamil and Hindi films is not a problem for the Malayalam audience.

I think two three things are different in Malayalam than other language industries. The value for writers. Malayalam industry gives respect to writing and writers more than other industries. Cosmopolitan audience. Malayalam audience are mostly in touch movies outside the state and their language for the last many decades. So to keep up to the level of audience it is inevitable for movie makers to level themselves up. The unity of the team in Malayalam industry is very true and they keep cinema as the priority above all personal ego and one's position. If we look at manjummal boys you see 4 other successful directors are acting in that movie. Directors working as actors, actors being writers, writers being producers. These are very common in Malayalam. So the craft being cross checked and verfied by peer groups so efficiently..

Movies like salaar , animal, jailer , leo ,jawan , varisu etc collected more than other good movies .. people have set their mindset to watch these films more than 3 times.. but not watching content related films even once .. the ego to support their fav actor is bigger than supporting talented artists.. if this changes then producers will support talented writers and directors ... movie watching privilege should be changed to movie watching experience .. audience will support good content movies in theatres only if ticket price is reasonable.. time is changing in terms of watching movies based on imdb ratings and so on ..thats how movies can reach beyond borders..

Current Tamil film industry problem 1. Movie produce according to hero, not to entertainment audience, 2. Budget finish just to paid salary, actor,director and item song, not use money to develop story, screen play. 3. Some director didn't had good story, but had fame still direct the film, Only respect Vetrimaaran sir, he only direct the movie when had good story. Until now no Vetrimaaran film flop. Just my opinion from Malaysia - Tamil padam veriyan-
