Azear Rated R he doesn’t like ideas that doesn’t register in his head as a creative direction. He’s been around this business for the last 59 years. He was told that a garbage man was a good gimmick. He’s honestly just out of touch in today’s wrestling audiences. Triple H, Steph and the board only truly listens to the fans.

I bet this is a big part of why Chris Jericho went all-in to help built AEW the way he has- he wanted to create a platform where talented and creative performers who were underutilised in WWE like Matt Hardy and Jon Moxley can express themselves as freely as he does and be seen on a wider stage than mere indies or second-rate shows like Impact (which will never be fully able to shake off the stigma of being TNA) or RoH can provide, while also letting them work with up-and-comers who can be just as creative and talented like Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin. And it's working.

  • @degen83

Spot on. WWE's main problem is Vince. Vince maintains such a tight grip on controlling every aspect of the product that it is stiffling. I'm sure he has great ideas but his vision for what people want to watch and what people actually want to watch is much different. I don't want to watch a soap opera with the ocasional fight, I want to watch pro wrestling with the wrestling and good angles being the focus. I was an avid watcher in the late 90's and 2000's, but I don't watch the show anymore because its all way too scripted. I got back into watching wrestling with the Broken Hardy's in TNA, but Vince never saw money in pushing Matt Hardy and he didn't do as much with Matt Hardy as he could have. I think Matt leaving WWE is the best choice for him since Matt wants tv time and to actually be a pro wrestler and do pro wrestling instead of just being a behind the scenes guy getting a fat paycheck. The Broken Matt Hardy gimmick is just fantastic when done right.

I agree with most of these posts regarding him (Vince) being out of touch and place. But then again he’s been like this for YEARS: He didn’t know jackshit about Scarface and assumed Razor Ramon WAS Scott Hall He knew NOTHING about Pirates of the Caribbean or Jack Sparrow so dismissed a wrestlers idea to be a variant of that kind of character And it was STEPHENIE, who help Cena become the big star he was by catching him rapping and pushed to utilize that as his gimmick Vince wanted to use Cena but was going for the second coming of Rocky Maivia and we all know how that worked

What a professional Jericho is. Think about it, he is in abject terror of Matt. We all saw the look on his face of utter shock and fear, yet as a professional he's able to put that aside, just ask questions and even squelch his inner fright enough to put forth a good interview like this. Basically acting like nothing is up. THAT is the mark of a true professional and I didn't even get into the fact that in less than a week both men will be likely involved in a brutal cage match against each other. Really, both Matt and Chris should be commended for acting like they aren't even enemies and having a normal conversation. Incredible. I couldn't do it. I would be screaming at Chris and telling him how I was going to hurt him at Blood and Guts. As angry as I am with Chris for hurting Nick and putting him out of action indefinitely, part of me has to respect him. This is probably why all the fans sing his theme song.

Nigel Reginald Augustus-Bakersfield I watched wrestling since 2005, do not give that BS, WWE was amazing back in those days, and it’s had great stories since. But right now, it is not good. AEW is making new stars, and giving old ones chances they did not have in wwe (I.e Brodie Lee and Matt Hardy) they have great shows, like Revolution. WWE simply can not stack up to AEW in terms of stories, and even their newer talents. I do not hate WWE, I just do not like is as much as AEW currently.

This is just one example of why people calling AEW; WCW lite and TNA 2.0 is just lazy and ignorant. Firstly, you cannot blame another sizable promotion for talented wrestlers/persons wanting to leave WWE. In this case, it's not AEWs fault. Secondly, are wrestlers not allowed to sign with another company after their contract is over with?! In this case, are WWE talent not allowed to leave, and go somewhere else? Thirdly, the wrestling world is relatively small when it comes to opportunities on a big stage. Especially in the States. This means WWE is often a through point. Which leads to, who cares if a talent was involved in WWE when they have been the biggest stage to work to gain experience in the US. Simply notches on a resume. Which in turn also means, a high percentage of talent in the US used to be involved in WWE at one point or another. Thus you can easily classify many people as ex WWE persons. This ain't rocket science. Use your brain, as opposed to using emotional and loyalty ties to WWE.
