I saw Owens kindness first hand. I was in the back area waiting for my wrestler friend to get done at a house show and saw Owen go out of his was to make a severely disabled young mans day. The father told Owen he was his favorite wrestler so Owen treated and talked to the young man like he was Owens hero. He took pics and wanted to give the guy a signed picture but didn’t have any on him. The father told Owen he had done enough but Owen went out to his car fighting the crowds and back in to give the young man a signed picture. After Owen did all this the father started tearing up and said he hadn’t seen his son smile like this in years. At that moment I became a big Owen fan.God Bless you Owen, you were a great guy and class act.

I've seen this before. Maybe not this same experience, but another person had seen Owen's generosity towards a child. He ADORED kids. He'd spend time talking WITH THEM, not AT them or DOWN TO them. Owen had a pure ❤heart!❤ (PLEASE NO JOKES) He did more for fans than Hogan and Flair COMBINED!

OWEN already was a teacher! Either in the late 80s or early 90s he was a substitute teacher in Alberta I have an uncle in Calgary who told me his best buddy knew someone in owens circle and worked on the faculty when owen was there and the harts are legends there if not everywhere. No this isn’t a my brothers h clear friend cousin said this and that. This is legit. I’m not sure how many days he worked or how many classed he substituted but he did this part Time before going back to the wwf I imagine in between Japan and the brief wcw stint. I respect his work. I think he is, and has been, a top 5 performer of all time for years. But man, since the Benoit Vice episode, I see him in a whole other light. What Chris has done for Benoit's son and sister-in-law was amazing. Not surprised it is Chris Jericho giving Martha this platform to reach Owen's fans that may not have heard her side of things. The crowd was unusually quiet and JR & Lawler were mute at first. All we could hear was staticky crowd audio. Such an eerie moment that was. Was stunned when Vince OK’d the show to go on.

I've been listening to TIJ for years and I must say this is the best episode ever. It's also the most important episode ever. I read Dr. Hart's book about the funeral, but never really heard her talk much about Owen besides that. It's criminal how WWE treated her, including not paying her the royalties she was owed from them using Owen's image after he died. I hope all of the "fans" who bashed her over the years hear this interview and see why she is justified in not wanting Owen's legacy to be told by the WWE. After all that she's gone through, she has the right to make that decision. Hopefully the true fans of Owen will respect that.

Wwf who have punished him by having him job on the house show circuit to what ever wrestler was in home town which was common, releasing him from his contract to be petty, or saying okay we'll drop the gimmick, wcw was a still an option at the time and paying ex wwf stars to steal them from Vince, so Wwf creative would bend over backwards to keep upper level talent happy. People will always have a certain amount of loyalty to a company that has provided much to their childhoods and the WWE most certainly represents a certain amount of childhood nostalgia. Especially since people DO NOT want to believe that something associated with their childhood could be all bad. At the end of it though, as someone else pointed out, that’s a question you have to ask YOURSELF! You can choose to stop supporting a company like WWE, but you cannot question why others support it.

Mr. Jericho I have watched wrestling since I was 4. I remember meeting the Crusher in Milwaukee at a Target store. We did a picture with me on one shoulder and a beer keg on the other. It was CRAZY. I saw Andre the Giant and he scared me. His fingers were the size of my arm...lol. I was a little kid among goliaths. The AWA was my first "show". But then the 80's and the WWF arrived. Mr.T, Hogan, Cyndi Lauper, and the HOT ROD!! Then I saw Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage at WM III. YIKES. Then I saw Ric Flair vs Steamboat in matches that were an hour, another was 45 minutes. Sting also had a couple doozies. My point is the landscape changed so quick. From Nick Bockwinkle vs. Verne Gagne, the High Flyers as Tag Champs, to Hogan and Mr. T. Then the NWA, WCW, whatever you called em had the ironman matches and wow. I was hooked 150% Then I saw a smartmouth kid who I read about in PWI. Who kicked butt in Japan. Chris Jericho....LIONHEART. Your banter, your egomaniacal heel turns were EPIC. Then when you hit the attitude era you floored the gas and never looked back. You created a great persona. Then recreated it. Y2J was epic. Everytime you were counted out BACK YOU CAME AT 1000 MPH. When you "left" WWE and showed in NJPW, I knew you were on another roll. You were incredible AGAIN in your NJPW appearances. Now you were the first AEW Champ. I'm 100% sure you'll be back again. My point again is YOU ARE A LEGEND. What you have done for wrestling is amazing and unsurpassed. BUT besides the ring work and the AEW stuff you ALSO bring the public INSIDE with you on some very sad issues. From the beginning you were very open about Chris Benoit. That was hard for a fan to see being as I did love his work in the ring. Now your remembering a LEGENDARY wrestler from a LEGENDARY FAMILY. Owen Hart. The Hart Foundation was my favorite Tag team in the 80's. LOD was good too...lol. But he Hart's are wrestling royalty. I want to THANK YOU for having this interview. I know the intent was information, but I can't help but LOSE SO MUCH respect for Vince and the WWE. I just can't stomach that greed. It's sickening. Thank you again for being the BEST IN THE WORLD AT WHAT YOU DO. YOU ROCK CHRIS!!!!!

yea i gotta say..not knowing that Vince sued Martha, but thought that Vince was doing his legal responsibilities based on lawyer advice etc... but after all these years and the stories of what Vince seems to really be like, i have a hard time reconciling my love for the last 35 years of watching WWF/WWE, with knowing its run by just...such a selfish, jealous child of a man who has a level of Pettiness that rivals any top notch kayfabe heel run. I dont think i give 2 shits about the future of the company known as WWE. Its the talent that matters. Jericho. Thx brother. Hello Chris,i don't know if you will read this or not,but here it goes. I began watching wrestling at the age of two, with my dad. I turned fifty this year and as a diehard wrestling fan,i have witnessed many great times watching my favorite sport. On may 23rd,1999 i was with my late best friend watching over the edge. We were in complete shock when we saw Owen's accident and learned of his passing. As you said,in the episode, had owen lived, the talent entering the wwe in the early 2000s was incredible. I wept watching his family and everyone else speak about owen. I have a pwi poster of owen in my bedroom that says we'll never forget him. He touched many people, even to this day,he remains the king of harts. Thank you and take care.

I am so happy I defended Martha while everyone else talked about how greedy and petty she is. I knew there was more to the story than we were hearing and she was not out to destroy her husband's legacy, not even unconsciously. Please remember that WWE killed Owen and this is his wife. Just keep that in perspective. Owen wanted to retire very shortly before he died. He saved his money like crazy so he could, he wanted to be with his family, not a dinosaur in the business. Owen Hart does NOT have to get into HoF to be recognized as a legend. People will remember him no matter what, and they will be haunted and bitterly saddened by the circumstances of his death. HoF should never be the standard by which we measure whether someone has "made it". Owen is a legend and everyone knows it.

What is so sad about her lawsuit outside of owens death is how it affected the family. Looking back it’s so sad that the majority of the Hart family took the WWFs side against her primarily out of self interest and fear of making the WWF angry and harming their potential chances of working there in the future. She mentions how some of the family actually would steal her documents to send to the WWF to sabotage her lawsuit which is genuinely so damn sad to do. I believe I read that after the case settled of the ten Hart children she was only on speaking terms with three of them including Bret. And eventually she and Bret fell out because she didn’t get his footage for him and has taken her stance against Owen in the HOF. It’s so sad that some siblings actively assisted those who were responsible for their brother dying . Martha’s stance can be unfortunate because everyone would love him in the HOF but it’s entirely understandable why she takes her stance and in the end I can’t fault that. She doesn’t owe it to us to let those responsible for his death profit from him so that fans can spend a day enjoying him going into the public image HOF.

Thanks for the subtle tributes that the avg Joe might not realise you do when you work to Eddie Chris Dean and multiple others. You 4 are/were the real 4 horsemen. Please bring back more legends, if you could bring Perry Saturn back as a manager that would be the biggest gesture to give back to the wrestlers of old. The only saving grace is Owens foundation, such a good idea and a great cause. His name already would have never been forgotten but now he can give back to the world even after he is gone.
