I’ve spent many hours crocheting with my cat, Nala. She was a stray that had been abused before we rescued her. Nala had been abused, so even after 5 years she is skittish. But she lives to sit with me while I crochet snd she looks at cat tv (the window in front of the porch). I’d say it’s our favorite thing to do!!

This is a motivational tip I heard in the context of getting into the habit of drawing practice, but I think it could work for crochet as well: decide before you start how long you're going to work for but choose a really short amount of time, 10 minutes or less. Set a timer and once it's over put away your project for the rest of the day regardless of whether you want to keep going with it. Then the next day, or in a couple of days, or even a week, plan to do it again. Limiting the amount of time you spend makes it easy to work on your project when you have a free few minutes even if you don't really want to because it's so low commitment, and once you start getting into the project and putting it away even if you want to keep going you'll want to spend more time doing it. Once you get to a point you wish you were spending more time on your project, start setting your timer for longer and longer, and eventually you'll find you're spending the amount of time you always thought you "should" be working on your project and also enjoying it 😊 Also, podcasts, audiobooks, and live streams are your friends; I always have something on in the background while I'm crocheting or knitting 👌😉👍

I was inspired to start working on a temperature blanket to commemorate the years my two teens will be in high school (one blanket for each year) because of the temperature blanket videos you posted. What you said, "You can start a temperature blanket at any time," was the specific point of inspiration. I decided to start each of the blankets on the girls' birthdays instead of in the traditional Jan-Dec timeframe. My suggestion for the early 2000s playlist? Oasis' Champagne Supernova, They Might Be Giants' You're Not the Boss of Me Now or Particle Man

Awww Sheba was being so polite about asking for some scritches. I wish I could even knit that fast, let alone crochet, but I ate while you crocheted, and we both finished up at the same time. And the cat tax was an added bonus.

Great tips for finishing projects. I have a couple more tips. 1) I keep a notebook with all my projects and their details written down (hook size, pattern source, etc). Seeing my wips in writing helps motivate me, and 2) I crochet while I watch TV to make better use of the time.

Ok this may sound odd, but it made me feel better that you take off the sleeve of the yarn... I've been crocheting for 3-4 years, but I still feel like a beginner and still feel like there are taboos that I just didn't know about and have always been scared that removing the label was one of them... So yes, I still fight around it lol it may seem like an odd thing to seasoned crocheters, but I've taught myself everything since I don't know anyone else who does it... Finding your videos has been a lot of help and has helped me branch out and not be afraid to mess up! Edit: OK again, sorry for the book! But I needed to thank you again for showing a casual video. Watching someone like you still need to pull out stitches, or recount, or readjust is such a relief. You are definitely much faster at this, but it's such a relief to see that perfection isn't expected. It seems a lot of hobbies get tainted with that expectation from the pros and makes it much more intimidating

Hello there. I found your videos just today and have watched several on tunesian crochet. You explain it all very well. I especially like how carefully you show the beginning and ends of the rows. I've done a bunch of basic T crochet squares to then do cross stitch embroidery on. It only hit me today about the first stitch in return rows. The patterns always just said to do one loop and then 2-2-2-2 across. Only today when you called it a chain stitch did I have a DOH! moment! I've made a million chains in my life but it just never occurred to me that the familiar V pattern on the edge was a chain! You are a remarkable teacher.

This was a great idea, just to chill out and kick back with a little crochet. You have a lovely teaching style, a lot of tutorials are a bit clinical and soulless but with you it's like having a friend in the room going through it with you. I'm going to set aside a little time next week to watch your basic stitches in the Tunisian style, I've only been crocheting about 6 weeks but going to give it a go as you never know until you try.

So I got to focus on my work during the music bits but listen to chat during the talking bits. I really enjoyed this format.

Yaaaas! I completed my basket weave Tunisian scarf with you! I really hate the yarn I picked but I learned a new thing and completed a project. Good work team. Also if you’re going to wear your wearables be sure to include the link to the pattern bc you know we are all going to be asking for them.

Perfect for Sunday morning coffee and crochet. Goal for the day is finish this baby Afghan, Rainbow Ripple great pattern easy to do without looking at pattern or is that cause I have made several. Worried about your back sitting like that, mine would kill me. Happy stitches 🧶🧶🧶

Looking forward to seeing the end result and how far 1 cake goes. My Twirls order arrived 2 days ago and I was quite surprised at how small the cakes are for 200g, I don't normally go for such a thin yarn as I have arthritis in my hands, but I love the colours of these and decided to give it a go while they were on sale.
