Can personally attest to Toni's Absolute Basics of Tunisian Crochet video, because *last night* I turned the video on and by the end had a Tunisian crochet swatch despite never having done it before!

I think I had thought of trying it before because I have a double headed hook but I am not sure why there are hooks on both ends and how to use it.

I must say, that you are truly one of the KZreadrs who's inspired me to take another step in growing my crochet "business". Toni, I also love your wholesomeness ❤ Your smile, energy and spirit is so warm and welcoming (and contagious). OH.. We have a nurse that comes here once a week and she came up with a few of us doing a project. We came up with knitting and crocheting for a women shelter. That’s going to be our project for the year. Thank you for another wonderful video! I'm 56, an elementary art teacher and I have been doing arts & crafts since I could hold a crayon. But, I could never crochet!! My grandma tried to teach me. I ran a successful Etsy shop for years selling custom artwork, which I recently closed. Yay! A few weeks ago I decided that I was going to learn how to crochet. Your videos have been so helpful and are my absolute favorite! For the first time in many, many years, I am creating simply for pleasure and not focusing on selling.

I loved hearing your crochet story. I learned to crochet around 8 or 9 years of age. I remember making a hat, a purse and I don’t remember making anything else except stepping in and crocheting whatever my mom was working on. I picked up my crochet and made baby blankets for my friends’ baby shower gifts. I put crochet aside for a while after all of those baby blankets. Meanwhile, like you, I needed something to do to be busy during a stressful time and I picked up cross stitch and that was so stressful. I thought to myself, why don’t I just crochet? And I have not put it down. I also like to sew which is something my mom taught me. I finally learned the knit stitch. I wish I was better at knitting. I am going to try Tunisian crochet. I’ll keep you posted. I promise you’re my kindred spirit. I’m from the Midwest, have fur babies and we both love crochet 😂

I've just discovered your channel a few days ago and now I feel like you're my mom in crocheting, if that makes sense 😂❤. I just love you and you inspire me so much as a teen since I've realized that here in Botswana crocheting is like a new thing and it's not that popular. I love crocheting so much but sometimes my mom feels like it will distract me in terms of school and studying even though she was the one who introduced me to crocheting when i was 12😂. I feel like you've inspired me to dream big in terms of getting people in my country to appreciate and know more about crocheting whatever way I can. I got to know that a lot of Batswana think that crocheting is for old people as in the past it was done by our grandma's and aunts😂 and I felt like something must be done to remove that kind of ideology. In Botswana it's very difficult to like get crochet and knitting supplies as there aren't craft or supply stores that focus on these fields but nevertheless you inspire me to just keep going and maybe one day I'll have a store which sells crochet and knitting supplies 😂. Keep going mom, love you❤😂😂

Hey Miss T! I am so mad that I missed this live chat I could just scream! I don't know how it happened or why I didn't know about it. I do not go a day without checking in on you to see what you got going and listening to anything new while I am Crocheting or knitting or spinning or whatever. Since I am here I can't not say a few things, ok? I do hope all your followers know just how doggone lucky they are to have you ❣️Personally I love your stitch tutorials. You are so good at explaining things so plainly no matter what the tutorial is about. I have been knitting and Crocheting over 60 yrs and I have discovered many things I learned, I learned wrong! So happily I have corrected things. I am left handed so I imagine that caused much incorrect technique. My mother taught me my basics in both fiber arts and also how to read a pattern. The rest I taught myself (wish I had had KZread when I was young. I can vouch for your Tunisian basics tutorials!! I paid for an online course and still did not know what I was doing until I found you. So, thank you dear sweet Toni, you are a treasure and you make all my days happier 🥰🥰🤗❤ and I love you too ❤💜 💙 And I am shutting it now 😁

Thanks for being so unapologetically Toni! I love your wholesome, enthusiastic vibe. And you are so wise to keep knitting just as a personal growth craft for yourself rather than try to offer content around that. The knitting space seems so full of influencers, teachers, designers and its overwhelming to me who is just a newbie knitter. But I have been crocheting on and off for 50 years and I always come back to your channel for inspiration in my favorite yarn craft.

Hello Toni, now that I own your Tunisian Book , I am teaching my self that Art. I also is finishing a few Blankets I have , now that I was able to secure funds for yarn to finish them. At the age of 71, I have to budget to do my love of crochet . Also teaching myself to knit, I made my first knitted Scarf without dropping any stitches. so I now need to do something else . I sewed a lot when my girls were little, I even made pants for my Hubby when we were first married. Still do now and again . I learned many forms of crafts as a girl in the Caribbean . Stitches show is taking place in Sacramento , my old home town .Lived there for 44 years , now a Texan for the last 2 years. Loved listening to your stories. Lastly , being able to read patterns is great. and My Oldest has a degree in Fashion Design , but finds breaking into the market is who you know. but she loves making things for herself. Toni, you're A ball of FUN!!! I just love you. So glad I caught this "live" A month later. I honestly don't mind NOT watching "lives". They really bug me. Watching you IS fun. Watching others on " live" is fun... Sort of. Let me explain. Do you have anyone in your family who uses a cell phone??? I am at my daughters house for supper. Two beautiful grandchildren. Wonderful son in law. Good food!!! Nice picture huh? Except... No one is talking because they are all on their cell phone. Not talking. Just playing whatever game. If one is raised right, interrupting whatever they are doing is rude. I am the only one at that table who isn't using cell or kindle. I crochet. Watching wonderful ppl replying to ppl on "live" feed is almost like that. Stupid I know but there you have it. I'm 66 and I HATE cell phones. My grandchildren can't tell time!! All they need to do is look at the cell. They don't remember anyone's phone number. It's in the cell. I HAVE a cell and a Kindle. I just don't want to be rude to others with my stuff. Just saying. Rant over. I'm sorry. It happens a lot. I was at my daughters mother in laws tonight. Along with everyone's cell???? The t.v. is also on. Grrrrrrrrr. Lol.

I somehow missed this video when you first posted it. It autoplayed after watching one of your other tutorials tonight... while working on a variation of your Mulberry tunisian baby blanket no less - but I've expanded it to a full sized afghan for a Christmas gift. I'm so glad that I did! I'd never heard your complete story before. AND, by the way, you talked me into it. I ordered the Sewrella Tunisian hook set tonight. Crushingly expensive (I can afford it, but still ouch!). I cannot wait to work with metal hooks again. I hate, and I do mean hate the drag of the cheap bamboo and plastic tunisian afghan hooks that I purchased to see if I would like it enough before making the investment. 2 days until they arrive! Woot!

Hello Toni. The first time I’ve known you was through the Gengham blanket. I was captivated by the colors on the video thumbnail, even before I clicked on play. I was hooked & followed the tutorial entirely without even blinking😊. I then made the Jenna stash basket that I still proudly use & my favorite hexi coaster. Not only I enjoy your educational tutorials & informative hooks & yarns reviews, you are also my English teacher. Being an ESL you are benefitting me on a language level more than you can imagine. So, thanks a million for that too ❤

That’s how I still work for the most part, buy the yarn then find the project and see if it feels “right”.

Wish I could have viewed this live, but at the time, I see patients at that hour. (Counselor) I use crochet/knit as a way of defragging after a hard week. Plus, I teach it to patients who have addiction, anxiety, depression, etc., to use crochet as a way of combating their symptoms. I try to watch ALL your videos and have your book ... pre-ordered well before it hit the market. lol Love it.

Hi Toni, I can’t thank enough for your videos and book. They simply stunning. I started to learn Tunisian crochet due to my anxiety. I always thought it’s impossible to learn, however thanks to your videos I actually managed to learn already few basic stitch patterns and even my anxiety is getting better. If possible to make more book or even a course it would be amazing. 😊

Just now making a sweater for me! It is the Toni Cuffed Cardi. All the parts are made and I just need to block and assemble and make the collar! Made two dog sweaters and figured I could make a sweater for me.

Love your hair! Yes, I’m working on YOUR Tunisian headband, that I learned how to crochet, from your video, last night. Posted it on my FB page and boy, did I get great feedback. I also, got an order from my dear friend. Your videos are awesome. You do such a good job, teaching and showing us how to count the rows and such…I appreciate your talent and hope, one day, I can Tunisian crochet like you. I cannot wait for my new hooks to get here, then I’m purchasing your book…and cannot wait to find a project to make. I am having trouble with how I would increase my rows for an afghan or cardigan…but I know, I will learn it soon. So excited…my tunisian hooks come tomorrow and then the cords come the next day. Question, can I still get an autographed copy of your tunisian crochet book?

I never thought of this until you mentioned it. Different fibers work better with different crochet hook materials. Would you mind doing a video or blog post addressing this?

I learned how to read a crochet pattern by downloading a TL Yarncrafts project that has a video and then I watch and read the pattern as I make the project. It has worked out so well for me! Yes, I am still asking for content, I would love to see a TL Yarncrafts color choosing video, I love the colors you choose for your projects. I would like to get better!
