I understand that Bay may feel a little drowned by her mom, HOWEVER, that was extremely mean and selfish saying those things to her and behind her back.

Your kids can’t be your whole life. Bay was right to say that. That’s not parenting that obsession.

Bay has two moms. That’s two more then I have. My bio mom died and my adoptive mom doesn’t care how I feel. She should be grateful she has two moms who’s step up to support her in any way they can. I have a dad who would go to jail for me, and a group of friends who stepped up when it came out I was abused at home and I really appreciate it; but what I really wanted and needed was a mom who would spend time with me. Teach me how to cook and play board games with me. Not watch tv and take me to McDonald’s.

I love how TV shows like this an invoke conversation and remind us to be great full about our own situations or really be mindful positively or negatively about our real lives. I know many people including myself who has spoken negatively about their parents and family as a whole even over minor petty reasons which as “they made me do chores” , in my experience it’s rarely the kid that’s being abused at home that complains about their families because they are experiencing real hurt. The best thing we can keep in mind is that, this is just a show with actors playing a part. From what I can remember, Bay had but her way into Daphnes school and while things were ok between the two the cultural differences came up, kathrine kinda but her way in as well although well meaning and there were no boundaries between mom and teacher. When I was in HS this was my favorite show, I was a foster kid with a very good foster mother I didn’t speak to after leaving her house. I randomly thought of the show one night at work and started watching clips. On the real, being switched at birth is absolutely mind boggling. I watch a 60 minutes case from South Africa 🇿🇦 about two boys who were switched. The families found out about 2 weeks later and didn’t switch back. What!? They tracked the story as they grew up and it wasn’t until the kids discovered money and had to think of real world opportunities that they realized the misfortune in one case vs. the prosperity in the other. One family was wealthy and the other was a single mom. What I hate the most was that, they weren’t switched back and the wealthy family saw it as so easy to allow their biological son to go live in the slums and only thought to reach out to him with help when they were sending the other boy to college. They could’ve done more much more for him and his adoptive mother.

I did suffer extreme emotional abuse at home and anytime I did talk about it it was dismissed or brushed aside until I found the right person by that time I was already an adult and out of the house so no I don’t think you should ever dismiss something a kid says whether you think they are dramatizing things or not.
