Am I the only one that doesn't see ALL this overhead represented in the quality of the video? I really don't want to be a Debbie Downer and I genuinely like Mark, but I think there should also be genuine feedback. As a viewer, I don't think it's easy to appreciate the amount of work that went into this. As an entrepeneur, I don't know how this wasn't possible with about 1/10th of the budget. That might sound extreme, but I mean it.. 400k for something that in the OG days of youtube would just be shot with a couple of Gopro's? Maybe the other creators were (royally) comped, maybe there were aspects of the shoot that were challenging regarding following the drones, especially at night.. But it's hard not to see this as unnecessarily hyperinflating this video. I love seeing youtubers "make it" and I'm not at all judging what they do with their money, but I think giving honest feedback is always worth it. I feel like this is (one of) the first times Collin and Samir experienced it like this as well, it seems to shine through the video in some parts. I got the feeling they were summoned for this "grand spectacle", but it turned out to be a very complex shoot for a backyard scientist video. Like.. I get with Jimmy, but those shoots are genuinely crazy in scale, pay-outs and set-ups (as have some of Mark's in the past) Edit: I'd like to revise my initial scope to about 80k, as there are also the material and build costs for his work on the giant dart thing.

I like this thumbnail. You still have your font and that yellow, but it's based on a moment from the video. So I have the trust of knowing what I'm going to see. The book cover matches the story. Also the car creates a "where we going" question in the subconscious mind. It all fits this video well. I know thumbnails are all about exaggeration right now, but If it falls along the same trend as Book Covers, viewers are going to be turned off by covers (or thumbnails) not matching the story. IDK if this shot of Mark was perfect, but him being mid sentence does tell us we're about to hear him talk. The quote was perfect to.

I super appreciate that rather than shying away from the hardcore business concepts in order to keep the content broadly understandable, you made a big effort to explain them so that they *became* broadly understandable - and for those of us who knew stuff like LTV already, kept this a valuable lesson. Mark Rober and his team is inspiring for very many reasons, most of all the happiness and inspiration they bring to people around the world, but I really appreciated seeing this side of their business as something that just seemed really smart.

I don't know how to say this but you guys remind me of those behind the scenes videos Pixar used to make for their DVDs. Very fun, very inspiring, very just nice. I love it!

This format works really well. I'd love to see one with Mr. Beast, Smosh, or any other YT that has grown into a business. Really fascinating to see not only their philosophies on business, but also their story of what got them to this point. Keep it up y'all.

Is KZread maturing? Is this what it looks like? Is Mark setting the path for future business models with KZread at the centre? Engineering is such a small segment of the world market, who else could use what Mark has done to positively impact lives in such a way? Bravo Mark! And thank you team C&S

Danny Duncan’s channel is one giant ad as well and it’s done so well it never seemed like a true ad. It’s a brilliant way to move.

Blows my mind that you guys don't have 10mill subs! Creators clearly love you and how you tell the real story of their businesses. Keep up the good work guys.

I think another part of what makes crunchlabs so great is that its not just a product but a doorway into the whole world of engineering and science. Most "kits" only include what they have and their guide book or instructions but Crunchlabs comes with such reusable components and an active community behind it that you can start with the kits and then combine them into your own creation, while having the support of the creators of the kit cheering you on!

With him having no outside investments it means that he can avoid the inevitable push from investors to make more money at the cost of the company doing things that are not good in the long run - and still making serious money. So amazing to see some of what goes on behind the videos. Great work here!
