What MKBHD himself doesn’t realize just how powerful he has become, and that’s a good thing. For someone who doesn’t want that power, he handles it very well. MKBHD became immortal and entered the pantheon of the most powerful people in the world when Tim Cook quoted him on stage. The question I have for people bashing him is: should we always talk about the good but not the bad? What if he didn’t say anything about the car, and people ended up in a very bad accident, resulting in fatalities? Would we then say, ‘Oh, MKBHD should have reviewed that car and said something?

In particular, I enjoy his enthusiasm for what he does which is quite apart from the power he wields or the money he makes - both of which don’t really factor into his interests in the products he reviews or makes. He even talks about how there’s no magic number he would consider for selling his brand. It’s not about the money - it’s about the work he enjoys. That, in my mind, makes him a premium reviewer.

As usual Marques is rational, clear as well as introspective. I appreciate how his mind works; he holds my interest, even tho' I have no particular involvement with tech-apart from the need to be an efficient user. This was also my first time viewing this channel, and Jon, you are very easy yet compelling as an interviewer. I'm definitely a new subscriber.

I found Marques from his EV review videos (since I was in the market) but I have watched so many of his tech reviews because he really does just hook you in! I have zero interesting in buying a VR headset but I definitely will watch Marques demo it and give me his pros and cons... he just has a way of talking about these things that make them interesting as a conversation/education moreso then an ad. His demeanor is so engaging and I think that is why his videos do so well. All of the planning and production is top notch (shout out to his team) but his personality is why viewers keep coming back!

Marques is such an outlier because he’s interesting, honest, calm, intelligent, and well rounded; usually a content creator is compromising on one of those things to try to hold their audience (compromising honesty, screaming/ being excessively energetic, dumbing things down, or being obsessive about their content for the sake of generating and maintaining interest), but he’s just incredibly stable and level headed as a person; great interview, great questions
