yeah it's funny. although I see a lot of big celebrities do this in places where they can basically guarantee that they're known, but introducing themselves with their name sets a precedent for what they want to be called, and invites the other person to share their own name in a way where it doesn't feel like "oh I'm much more famous that you, you already know me, but what's your name peasant?"

I feel like he only used the word retirement because he didn't want people to think he was going to leave then return. But he isn't retiring like "I'm gonna live my life on a beach somewhere". He basically just quit the job he had so he could get a new job.

I don’t know MatPat personally and this still made me cry

There are so few times I can say this happened, but watching MatPat's reaction, I cried and laughed at the same time. Matt is one of those rare existences who add value to the world just by living in it. He's a shining star and an unblemished saint who always stays true to himself. The fact that he immediately wanted to make a Film Theory video about the movie after watching it is proof of that. Just hearing his manic and purely joyful voice is enough to make me smile, and it will always make me smile for the rest of my life. May he forever be as happy as he's made all of us.

Why are the behind the scenes just as cinematic as the actual product. This is madness.

I cried way too many times while watching this. You guys absolutely chose the right person to make a movie about. I hope one day there will be a professional matmat movie and I will somehow be a part of it

Matpat is right there are many Marks out there I was one of them. Lost my marriage, my mom passed, lost everything I owned and went homeless all in a span of a year but what thing I always smiled when I heard it was "HELLO INTERNET WELCOME TO GAME THEORY!" 4 years later I've practically rebuilt my life from the ground up. Thank you Mat and We all miss you greatly 😭

It's absolutely mind blowing that Matpat and Steph have a literal rags to riches story that played out right in front of our eyes. Team Theorist is an inspiration.

From 30:09 to 30:34 really got MatPat emotional, you can see it in his eyes. He knows he saved a life and he knows how many more hes saved and he should be so proud.

I was wondering, who is this channel "Sticks" that MatPat is talking about, and wow. That led me down to a realization when this dropped on my feed. You guys are great filmmakers. Even made what films couldn't do which is to turn a trailer into the best film I've ever seen. Can't wait to see more!

yeah. The actual ‘film’ is just 5 minutes and is a glorified trailer and that’s a shame. I wish these people made the movie longer like an actual 30 minutes or something because it had genuine potential

The other KZreadrs are fine with a 3-5 minute thing but with MatPat just retiring and being a huge icon in KZread history with a pretty decent amount of backstory for a interesting movie a 20-30 minute thing would’ve been neat

I am crying right now. I'm just one of the millions of people on this earth that MatPat and his wife Steph have had a positive impact on. MatPat may have retired from hosting the Theory channels, but he and Steph will always be my favorite KZreadrs. And that's not a theory!

Matpat announced his retirement to KZread the day we were bringing our son home from the hospital, I was so sad to be entering a new and potentially scary chapter in my life without the comfort of his videos to keep me going like that always have. He said in the video he originally wanted to upload it on the day our son was born. Our sons name. Richter, from the game castlevania. So to hear now that matpats first memory is playing castlevania makes everything feel so perfect. Like the world isn’t so big after all.

You can see the moment Matpat realizes what story the bus scene was eluding to when his awestruck face shifts into a crooked smile like "Oh, I know what this is. I remember this moment because it changed my life so much" and, honestly, it tells you just how true important his life goal of seeing a positive change in the world because he was a part of it, actually, has been a huge driving force for the things he does in his life

i love this video so much because not only does it show your generosity and general care for other content creators, but as a huge matpat fan it also shows me his past and his impact. thank you, both sticks and matpat for this exciting video!

I started tearing up. Even though I have never met Matpat, I feel like anyone can tell that he’s just such a nice guy. He’s been such an inspiration to so many of us, and I hope that he knows that he hasn’t just helped that one kid from the drama club, but millions of people around the world.
