Sorry, I had no idea you were doing a premiere, but how awesome I would love my own homegrown garlic! Gorgeous! I love the color when you first pulled them out! My friends are such great Northern gardeners. Although you would be an awesome Central FL gardener too because you have a similar zone. Instead of the old game “the floor is lava” the new game to play is “don’t poopoo juice your gloves”. 😂

I’ve only had a rabbit make a nest in the patch. It’s right beside the road, so I don’t think the rats hang out there. Too much open exposure.

You can put a cheap aerator, like the ones for a fish tank, in your poo pool joose and it won't smell so bad. It will also be better for your plants.

That is fabulous! I’m glad you use store bought too…. The garlic seed is just too expensive for the amount of garlic we need to grow. When we have used the garlic seed, whatever varieties that we have had, were not very flavourful….

Great video, Martha, July 1 ,2024. I live in Rogers Farm not far from you and I planted my garlic last Oct-Nov. Russian Red, Persian Star and Spanish Roja. The latter was so robust compared to the earlier two that I have already harvested it. I see some advise that says to dry them bulb down. In the past I have put them horizontal in a crawl space rack. I recently read that they should be stored after drying at 4C (in a fridge). Your video does not go past setting up to dry. What do you do after that? Thanks! Your bread was great!

Thank you Susan. I’m not familiar with Rogers Farm. Yes, most times you see them tied and hanging down… this works the best for me. Once they are dried, I store them in my larder which is a cold storage room, along with all my canning and other veggies we grow. I’m glad you enjoyed the bread. Warmly, Maureen

My future garlic left outside like yours would be a victim of humidity. Glad you mentioned that as Hmm I wonder how I would dry it here? I need an out building with a/c or a dehumidifier in my garage? My Amaryllis have a pink/red fungus but, not sure if it can pass to all bulbs.

I wonder what DTG does for drying. I think it’s a specific fungus for garlic.
