Supertramp - School Reaction

Ойын-сауық

In this video we're listening to Supertramp for our Friday Favourites series. We know a good amount of This band's hits. They saturated the radio stations. We decided to check out the rest of their songs, and the hits that didn't reach us. I think we're in for a good time. Enjoy!

This album is one of those few albums made - like Pink Floyd's Dark Side - that have to be listened to in their entirety. Every song on this album is a stellar piece of work and they all go so well together! If you can't react to them in order just listen to them in your own time together.

Saw them on the 'Crime of the Century' tour. Third on the bill on that tour was a then unknown solo artist named Chris de Burgh. They opened their set with this, the harmonica intro was played in pitch dark. 'Crime of the Century' was the album that got them noticed, eight great tracks, but one of my favourites on it was 'Hide in Your Shell'

I saw them on the same tour at New Theatre, Oxford. Chris de Burgh had a popular song about a stripper which went down well. Clearly remember a big white parasol on stage.

@@steveshovlar994 That's where I saw them! Feb 1975. Had to leave during the last song to get the last train to Moreton-in-Marsh. 'Patricia the Stripper' was the song about the stripper.

It's hard to believe not knowing this entire album. First time I heard it when it first came out, we completely blew the new speakers at the tavern we took the album to - but no hard feelings because the owner didn't know either and would have played School at the same high volume we did. Good times.

I have been fortunate enough to have seen Supertramp “The Tramp” Live 4 times. Their live shows are a spectacle and brilliant. Each member is a musical genius. Rick Davies is my favorite keyboards player and John Helliwell is favorite Sax player. He is a blast to watch live. The bass and drummer are awesome and Roger’s guitars are superb. The only live show I put above Supertramp is Pink Floyd, who I have seen 4 times.

Oh emm gee, listening to this today is taking me right back to when I was 14 (in '84) and to an amazing family holiday in the Netherlands; It had been my Big Sister's birthday only days before our departure, and our Mother had given her a 'Best of Supertramp' LP, among other things, which my Sister then recorded to tape to take on that holiday. And this would become its soundtrack 😊 Thank you very much for choosing this song! 😀👍

Saw them in 74 at Ford Auditorium in Detroit. They used to have $2 concerts during the week. My cousin had heard their previous album and talked us into going. We walked out of there in awe wondering why they were still playing these small venues. 2 months later they exploded. Saw them 2 more times but they were a victim of their own success as they were not getting along as after Breakfast they went too pop for me .

First time listening to your reaction. Love Supertramp - certainly one of my top 5 bands all-time along with Rush, Yes, Steely Dan, Genesis. Enjoyed your comments about schools - I was a teacher in California for many years and was always disgusted with the regimentation and total lack of teaching kids about individuality and creativity. Of course it's all a part of the dark agenda we're seeing so blatantly today, especially with the teaching of critical race theory and suggesting to 6-year-olds they can change their gender without parental consent. Thanks you two for talking truth.

@Hanier Family Right now the world so polarised and todays young people need to find a middle way. That said, we live in this society now where if you express a valid opinion, someone is too quick to call you a Nazi because they disagree with that view. This particularly needs to change.
