Supercharger Install Ep. 5 - Fuel Return System + Gauges

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I talk about fuel return systems, what they are for and if they are necessary for a forced induction build. I detail the installation of the radium surge tank system for my 370Z. I also install a couple of glowshift guages to be able to monitor my fuel and manifold pressure. This concludes the final preparations for the supercharger install on my 370Z

    Probably some of the best how to / DIY videos I've seen .. you certainly have great knowledge of the Z platform but more importantly the ability to explain how things work in a way thats easy to follow! Great job with the videos keep it up! Looking forward to see the finished product as I am considering the ACE SC kit.

    Great job!!! I can only imagine the amount of time you have put into research, tools, parts, etc. That is what makes this video such a valuable source of information. I am in Dallas and have had to make a run to Summit mid job too. Can't wait to see what you do with the gauges, although I was hoping you were going to use them to replace the factory ones. Everything you are doing is going to make the end result so worth the effort you are putting in!

    Damn brother that’s a lot to wrap the head around. You do a lot of prep to get these vids together. Much appreciated. I’ve got my return fuel in and it was a pain to run those hoses down and under. I thought about the surge tank as well but gonna hold off for a bit. Just because I don’t feel like messing with it 😂. But when I do, I will also get with Eugene. Great guy and so helpful. Looking fwd to the next vid and completion. Thanks for the detailed vids.

    I followed this through completely. Car fired up once and then shut off and then fuel pumps would no longer turn on. All 3 died out of no where. No shorts or any missing grounds. Any clues as to why? I will mention i did have the lift pump wired backwards. We had only primed it three or four times then switched it back up. The car ran after switching it but then died a bit after. I dont see all 3 fuel pumps dying at the same time like that. Some insight would be nice. :)

    Check your fuses, relay connections, also would be helpful to put a multimeter on the pump leads to see what voltage is getting to the pumps. Then you might want to check the resistance of the pump itself to see if the pump is dead or not. (Should be a few ohms. 0 means it could be shorted out, open means it could have burned out, ideally do this with none of the wires attached.

    I couldn't help but chuckle when you said the pump will increase the rate at which your fuel level goes down XD Who knew that the Return System would passively decrease your range! No sarcasm intended!

    Lol, I mean it does displace half a gallon of fuel that the fuel level sensors can't read. 😅 This system isn't like most fuel return systems though. Most don't come with a surge tank.

    In your wiring diagram wouldn't it be better to put the switch in between the original fuel power (now relay signal) and the surge pump 2 relay rather than running the power for the pump through your switch? I think that's probably what I'm going to do.

  • @thecarizon504

    @thecarizon504

    3 жыл бұрын

    Those switches are rated for 20amps so there isn't a current limitation doing it this way. Yes, ideally controlling the on signal to that relay would be better as you are switching a lower power signal. But to simplify the circuitry/how the wires were run, it was easier to just intercept the power line to the pump and so I could also just simply fanout of the same toggle signal for the pumps to all three.

    Great video but I think I'll just top off my tank at 1/4. .If you ever lose a fuel pump it's going to be fun to troubleshoot which one went out. I looked up the price on that surge tank, WOW!!!

  • @thecarizon504

    @thecarizon504

    They are pricey for sure. Knowing if one goes out might be difficult, but since the second fuel pump is not normally running and I only have it there for backup/e85, this car doesn't have a single fuel pump point of failure. I could lose any one of them and still drive fine.
