SUPERBOOTH 2021 Haken Audio - Eagan Matrix in Eurorack

Ғылым және технология

Gaz has a long chat with Ed Eagan from Haken Audio who's Eagan Matrix sound engine is the core behind the Continuum Fingerboards as well as being now inside the the Expressive É Osmose.
Now the Eagan Matrix has been released in Eurorack format.
The Eagan Eurorack is an 8 voice DSP/Digital module with plenty of CV control input to access the programable macros, as is common to all the Eagan Matrix implementations.
The patch editor runs on the computer software with the patches being compatible across all Eagan Matrix implementations.
It will be available as soon as components become available priced at $799

An excellent interview Gaz! All the right questions and space for him to answer! 👍 Really interesting developments for Haaken…and the price point is great.

Excellent review with Ed and Gaz. Sonicstate, Thank you for covering the Haken Audio booth and demonstrating some of the magic of the EaganMatrix in conjunction with just about anything. Great possibilities await . . .

Great interview! NOTE for folks searching: Haken is spelled with an “e” not 2 “a” s.

I noticed. My name has been misspelt Haken once or twice. And I have a Turkish friend who calls me Hakan.

"the rates on all these inputs are control rates". Does that mean the module's inputs will not respond to audio rate modulation from sources outside of the module?

The Eagan Matrix is incredibly deep and it sounds great. Boy is it difficult to program though. Unless perhaps you are a coder or mathematician.

What I'd like to be able to use it for is to plug my Seaboard Rise into that USB on the front panel and get a "poor mans" Continuum. They didn't really say whether that was possible

"I could buy a stradivarious and it sound like shit." ... then goes on to present the module that could make the most ridiculous eurorack bleepedibloop sound ridiculously good. Starting to wonder in what context the EaganMatrix wouldn't be beneficial. Even as a plain plugin it would be killer, especially in DAW's that allready encourage a modular approach.

Not sure why for such a both expensive and deep instrument, they concluded that a limited big-red-dot display is sufficient-- that seems like a severe cost-cutting measure, when higher res displays are not all that expensive, and don't necessarily have a more limited lifespan than a dot oriented display. And where long-term reliability is concerned, the question needs to be asked, did they choose a mechanical encoder or an optical one? Mechanical encoders are crap and go jittery in record time due to oxidation once the thin veneer of plating wears through. That's the bit of reliability I'd be most concerned about.

this thing looks so insanely ugly like I don't know how you could possibly do any worse. taking some cues from the eventide module design?

not bad..theory till 9:21 new beginning, sounds from 12:24 ;D then more talkin and sounds from 16:04 but actually more talkin and finally 22:22 a proper demo. basically its neo bag pipe. the ? is do we need the most expensive touch strip in the crater or we cud use kaos pad or any touch strip for realistic price.

Cycling74 MAX? So in order to edit presets you have to use a commercial/proprietary application which only runs on a commercial and proprietary operating system? Is it a joke? They couldn't make an open editor, or use an open API? I don't use Windows or Macintosh so this module is useless.
