Super Scratch built RC aeroplane for Beginners and big Kids ! Flite Test Sparrow RC aeroplane
Andre brought his scratch built Sparrow to the flying field for it's first flight. You have to admire its simplicity. It would be a perfect project for those wanting to try the hobby and learn the basics of RC flying. As soon as it left Carl's hand it whizzed around the sky. Great fun and simple to build !

Nice to see a Flite Test model! They got me into the hobby a few years ago. Next month I’ll be going to my eighth Flite Fest in Ohio. Imagine a few thousand folks… all ages… building and flying, and the sky filled with foamboard. They’re doing wonders for the hobby!

They are. Have to say I wasn't initially a fan when they were doing sponsored reviews but some of the scratch built projects they do are quite amazing.

This plane should have some kind of name i.e. SPEEDY BEE. This is definitely simple and great looking plane. loved the flight too. Hope too see it's bigger version as it is quite simple and great flyer. Thumbs up!

Flight test planes always great for beginners and cheap as well. I just hate that Nat engine wine. Looked great covered thou.
I have bought a really expensive Piper Super Cub plane - never had one as a kid so now at age 65 I bought my first one. Never flew one though. So I will definitely build one of these to practice with. And then progress to the "real" thing. All before I die hopefully. It is strange how one tries to have those awesome things you longed for as a child in your old age.

Steady on, I'm 65 and started rc flying three years ago. Not quite old age yet. Andy in uk.

@@andycraig8610 My friend I started working at age 7 every weekend of my school career - 16 hours a weekend to save money for my education. I have worked in IT for 47 years now - and in that time I only had maybe 30 lunch breaks - one during which I got married in court and went straight back to work. I have worked easily 12 to 16 hours every day for all those years including most weekend and even over Christmas. So it feels at age 65 as if I have been working a 100 years. Old age for me has already come and gone... blessing to everyone....
I tried building one and it would just list to the left and crash right after I threw it. Couldn't figure out what was wrong.
Sadly, the Sparrow is the reason Flite Test no longer provide plans for their new designs, it was cloned by some Chinese company and sold for a fraction of the price

Yeah. That's no joke. I suspect although it's a simple aeroplane that the guys put a lot of man hours into the design. I get folks copying my work and trying to make money out of it all the time so I sympathise.
