love your videos
My 8 year old grandson and I put this together today.2/16/20 and we had a blast...good times,,,good times
I've been building your planes for almost 2 years now, and I love the designs, and that with flat foamboard you create really good airfoils. I've built the larger: FT Flyer, Bloody Wonder (gotta build that baron still), FT delta, Versa Wing, and Tiny Trainer. This new design looks to me like it will be a new favorite. I like that it has a very strong nose, 1 piece wing, pusher prop, and I especially like the size of motor it's built around. This plane is amazing, I even watched the last video of it flying with my friend, and now he wants to make one too.
This plane looks so cool for beginners another awesome design!!

A) Great video and great job helping the kids out on their projects! Also the kits are very reasonably priced. Once again, bravo!
Good video !!! I watched it for fun & to see if maybe I could pick up a few building tips because I started scratch building a few years ago with foam board. I want to say how nice it was to see you promoting the hobby & good building practice with up & coming pilots (your son?) it reminded me back when I owned & operated my Hobby Shop(late 80's thru mid 90's) my wife and I started building class's on Tues & Thurs we had a lot of people sign up for those class's both mom & dad with the kids it was a very satisfying part of the business and I do miss ( wish we had your kits back then) we also held R/C car races at the roller rink in the winter time NE Ohio winters can be such a bummer!!! sorry I got side tracked lol!! But I was blown away by the speed & maneuverability of this little plane!!!!I might just have to buy one for this winter building season!!!! Great video &Thanks for the time and effort to make, edit & post these video's
I wanted to follow along with this video. Looks like fun I've never made a plane before. Update, I printed out the pdf, traced it onto foam board and finished this project tonight. I had a lot of fun! Thanks for the design. I plan on powering it, yours was crazy fast!
Finally! Thanks for the great design!
thanks for all your vids i love making gliders and rcs and your vids have helped so much
flies pretty awsome nice work guys
you guys are great pilots ! tryed flying mine today for the first time instant nosedive left & crash second time same thing & prop got into the tail & destroyed it !
I admire your efforts so much, you are the only one who do care about this community and trying to help to get bigger-and-bigger. Would be nice to have a Flitetest "dealer" here in Europe too, and lastly thank you sooooo much that you have in your inventory the DTHB for shipping overseas too, I definitely will order some boxes. Unfortunately the shipping is to much to order speed build kits one-by-one, but will support you as I can. Many-many thanks and keep up the super cool job.
Another superb video you guys! I have watched every video you guys have ever posted. I've been into RC since the 1970's and have boats, cars and heli's. I love the foam board method of building, so much easier than balsa! I'll be buying some supplies, and speed build kits in the near future for sure. And what's the Twin Boom in the window at the end of the video? Next project? Looks interesting!! LOL Thanks Josh!
Looks like a fun project guys, thanks!
Great stuff guys..looks like I'm building one now..
So, I've just binged watched all of your videos over the last couple of weeks. I've been inspired to try building and flying. While the fast build kits are available in Canada, and I will be purchasing through Great Hobbies, I would love to see one of your simpler designs be build from plans instead of a quick build kit, just to show us how it's done.

V-Tail surfaces are called ruddervators. A friend of mine nearly broke my nose with one while doing a preflight walk around of a 35 Bonanza. Never forgot what they were called after that.

Hey FliteTest! Please can you guys do a video on quad PID tuning? There are a few confusing and unclear videos out there but your guys usual clear approach to technical stuff would be perfect here and really need the help! Thanks
Major kudos!
Please make a CF-18 in the simple series. Thanks for great videos! Keep up the great work.
The glider was fun to build with my nephew. Some paper or PDF plans may have been easier to follow.

Wonderful
Thanks for the info about which foam..
It’s a ruddervator
I am making this with the f pack motor and a 1000 mla 3s. I might record it and upload it to youtube. can't wait to see what happens to it!!
anyone else notice how he says it's a 1806 motor when it's really a 2204?

Adam is building with Adam's Ready board!
the CJ on the site is incorrect. on the plans it's good! It should be 1.75inch(45mm)
The magic of engineering.
Looks a lively little model. Congratulations. Pity the materials (paper backed foam) seems hard to source in the UK. Just a couple of points: 1: When I glue servos in place on small models I wrap them in paper masking tape first. It makes them easier to remove and doesn't damage them. I know 5gm servos are cheap as chips these days so it's probably not as important as a few years back when they weren't. I usually fix receivers, which don't need to be as rigid, with sticky Velcro. Also not a good idea to stick the antenna out the bottom of a fuselage with no undercarriage. It can be inside anyway with a foam structure. 2: You refer to the tail controls as elevons. It's actually a V-tail and the two control surfaces are two halves of a rudder. Elevons are set up exactly as ailerons ie not the way you set up yours (as a rudder)

@FliteTest what type of foam are You using? 5mm or 10mm?
I have to say, cutting out all the parts with a razorblade is a pain in the ass. I'm quite sure mine won't look this pretty, when it is finished.
could you use a dx5e transmitter and a 4 channel spektrum receiver to fly it? mostly concerned with the mixing...

Just purchased this from you guys with the A power pack. Cant wait to start building. What battery is recommended?

I am having some trouble with the sparrow tip stalling, anyone have any thoughts?
hey nice video.I have a questione: i own headplay hd googles and i hace problems withe reciving the Videosignal. i also have 2 cloverleaves wich are not the best but they work and two linear polarized antennas. so now my question is why i get the best videosignal with one clovereave on my quad and a linear polarized on my headplay hd` s. What the Hack linear and circular!!! I dont understand it ... But next time i wanna buy a immersion 600mw reciver and 2 fatshark/immersion rc antennas, will they help me? By the way at the moment i have a 200mw chines vtx. Thank you hope for soon answer
"Ruddervators."
Is that mixing the same as the elavon mixing in a wing? Getting ready to fly mine and not really sure how to setup a v-tail mixing on my Taranis. I also noticed that some of the planes on the first video had wing flaps. How does that come into play with the v-tail?
Has anyone programmed this with a DX6i? I've never programmed a delta wing. I assume you can plug the servos in aileron and rudder channel; or can you just use a y harness?
I made the same one this is what I used: 1 Emax mt2204 2300kv CCW 6030 prop Emax Simonk Series 12A 3s venom 1300 mAh 20c 5g servos (some cheap servos, one failed today) The problem is, when I give it around 60% of throtle the plane starts flying and almost rolls to the opposite direction from the spin of the motor, feel like motor doesn't spin the prop, but spins my plane to the opposite direction (tried 6045 super heavy prop, 6030 little bit less but the same problem, 5045 the same as 6030) Very upset with it. Any ideas what I can do about it?
for the front hatch thingy is it okay to temporarily tape it shut
Is there a way to bind it to a different controller other than the one he was using in the video?
dang it now im going to dollerama to get some foam for this and they have black foam board too
Does it have to be that exact receiver? Or will any 6 channel rx work?
I have a 2212 motor left over from another project. Can I use that with a 20amp esc on this or do you think it will be too much? Thanks. I plan to use a 5 by 3 three bladed prop.
Some of the planes in the first video have ailerons (the one with the red wing tips) but not in the plans, is that a future thing or did it get removed?
question i have a dxe and im wondering if i could use a tunegy v tail mixer cause the dxe cant do v tail mixing someone pls answer

This is the first plane I downloaded the plans for and I noticed a discrepancy. The plans show the CG about 4 cm from the leading edge of the wing, but in this video it shows the CG further back around 8 cm from the leading edge (48:18 on the video). Which CG is correct? Also, can you direct me to a video that explains how to properly determine CG?

I think you should do another r/c glider (maybe dlg(pls))
Is it easier if you use elevons or elevators and ailerons
What's the foam boar thickness for this build?I built the mini speedster and the board that I used was too thick by a couple of mm, so I had to modify, and came out not ideal, it was half built by the time I realized this.

When the time comes to remove glued-on servos, what happens to the plane? Can the servos be cleaned up?
@uberclayton

Wrap tape around them . Then glue them in. When you remove the them just take the tape off to clean up.
What thickness is the foamboard. I can get 3mm and 5mm. Is the plans up yet? Found them :)
@Stambo59
8 жыл бұрын
+Stambo Ok I just built one of these using 5mm foamboard, an 1804 2300kv motor, a 10 amp ESC and a 3s 800. Balanced it with a bit of nose weight and took it up for it's first flight. It just flew, no trim required. I took the nose weight out and replaced it with some FPV gear. What a blast, this thing is fun. Thanks Flite Test for sharing such a great design. :-)
Hey, would it not be better to use a xt60 connector? especially if you use a 3s? or is there any downside to use an xt60 if not needed :)
@adi-yf3vs

Connectors won't make too much of a difference with a plane like this. On a higher performance model, connecters will start to make a difference.
Wanna know how the Jamara ASK 21 flys
Would the f power pack work?
