For your next build, you might look into the F.T. Mighty Mini Tiny Trainer. For $2 Bucks worth of foam, 20 cents worth of glue, and you can have TWO planes - - - One a Glider, and the other an R/C Plane. (Both fly GREAT, and easy to build. The R/C can even have Ailerons built into the wing, after you get good at "2-Stick Flying"...Watch the video first).

This is my plan too. I decided to download and print the templates. Made master templates with thick paper and then transferred to foam. (That way I can re-use the templates for more parts or other plane). Tonight I will cut the foam and glue it together to start as a glider. Then, we will buy the electronics and learn how to fly for first time.

Hey flite test! This was my first skratch build plane. Actually my first plane period. I followed the plans. Made the glider to see if i could do it. Then made the rc plane. Gave to my dad for chirstmas. we have flown it acouple times. It flies great. There is a pretty good learning curve on building these planes I would suggest that before you try the RC make the glider a couple times to get into practice before you actually install electronics. My next project is to make the tiny trainer.

This is a good build for younger makers if you pre cut the parts, however the canards are prone to being ripped off on landing. I have designed a small reinforcement piece in 1mm Styrene sheet that helps with this, I used the canard plan at 80% then took the root area and the first half of each canard. Other than that they fly great as chuck gliders. Can we get the band launched jets from the STEM package as free downloads? I could make tons of those.

Hey Flight Test folks! I wanted to thank the channel and the community for growing flight test to what it is. I've just come across this channel in the last month or so and everyone's excitement (except Joshua Scott) has inspired me to give it a shot. I've been looking for something new to try and this was an awesome combo of low initial investment, educational, high potential reward, and low risk for the dollar tree foam. I talked myself into buying 5 dollar foam from my local hobby store and it turned out to be excessively crumbly, but the plane still turned out beautiful! (I think it may have been some specific of foam board for miniature scene modeling type work; not sure obviously) I just finished the chuck glider build and I'm going to the park to chuck it now. I'll let y'all know how it goes!

This kinda misses the point of the canard. The forward "wing" should be controlled. The idea is that if you lose liftt on the canard. You pitch down thereby not losing lift on the main wing. Miss for showing benefits and losses of different designs

You will need to buy a controller seperately. Price depends on quality and function, but you can pick up cheap ones on ebay.... type in 4 or 6 channel rc transmitter. 4 channels would be ample for this build, 6 would give you more functionality if you decided to go further into the hobby.

You can get 4-channel Radio Tx / Rx for under $35 Bucks, and a LOT better one with 6-channels w/Rx for around $40 to $50 Bucks. (I bought a couple of the FlySky ones in 6 channel and 10 channel, and am fully satisfied. But you can shop around for used ones, too! Everybody "upgrades" sooner or later!) Find a club, and they can help you a BUNCH...!

I have 4, 6, and 10 Channel FlySky Transmitters, and nearly a dozen Receivers. I've only had one problem with any of them, and they sent me a new Transmitter/Receiver for $0.00 Bucks. (Banggood, with free shipping). Everybody in the club flies with DSMX stuff, so I'm kinda an "Outcast"..! I think it is all according to what your wallet can "Handle"! Haha! (One thing about the FlySky Transmitters is: You can get an "add-on" that goes on the back, and fly most of your hobby-grade drones! I'm now down to 34 drones, but I'm making up with R/C Planes!) Haha! Remember this: You have to PAY for what you get, but not necessarily GET what you PAY for! Haha!
