Probably the best episode ever. It felt a bit like a good bye episode for David... *sniff*
Awesome video and design. Really Love the way David laughs and reacts to disaster. Will certainly miss him when he goes home. You guys are awesome!
David's work with FT Viggen was one of his best. The Viggen is an awesome RC subject and one of the best flying EDF's I have flown.
Oh God, that´s awesome!

David, the ending with the afterburner was priceless!!! what a great looking jet. especially to be a speed build kit. thanks for your time and effort that you and everyone at FliteTest have put into these kits. they are truely awesome!
I built one of these back when the video was up. I spent many hours actually measuring with a ruler on my screen measuring in cm converting to inches...don't ask i did what I had to do lol but I came out with one of the most memorable flight experiences I've ever had an to this day I would do it all over again. I still have the original waiting for when my little one is old enough to fly. Thank you for sharing your knowledge knowledge with the public this design is phenomenal.
Love the on-flight camera angle looking at the plane! Nice work!

PKMartin I don't think that it's actually a camera hanging off a plane. 1. I can't imagine what would happen to the CG if you did that to a plane! 2. I don't see the Control Surfaces deflect at all. It's like it's an empty plane (no electronics) hanging off a Quad Copter.

Epic! That is an amazing plane and awesome footage! Great video guys, congrats on all the hard work paying off on one of the top Flite Test videos ever
I just wanted to tell you guys are AWESOME. I had no idea were to start in the rc hobby until I found your account. you really gave me a plantation to build off of and really appreciate the advice and help. now I own a bixler 2, an fms 1280 (similar to the bixler2 ), and I have scratch built the f22, ft flyer, a slow flyer made from the building techniqes from expiremental airlines, and I cant explain how helpful you are

My nephew and I built a edf viggen recently. I was really nervous about the first flight (we are fairly new to rc flying). My 12yo nephew flew the plane and made it look easy. I'm very impressed with the flight characteristics of this plane, it wants to fly really fast, but has no problem slowing down and just glides in for a soft landing. Great job on this design, if you're new don't be afraid of buying/building one. Love it.
They are so fast and the look amazing. The one with the prop that moves with the altitude was so nimble. It looked like a jet doing 3D. David, keep up the good work👍🏼
You guys supposed to have millions of views why that low. Quality is amazing. Good job
The shots you got on this video were truly exceptional! Was that camera on a boom? Can you please do a video on that. It looked amazing!!!
I just ordered a Viggen speed build kit!!! I can't wait to build and fly it! If only the recommend edf was in stock. I will have to piece together my motor and ESC on my own. Thank you FT!
Love the thrust vectoring version. You guys sure do a great job - thank you

A big thanks to the FliteTest team! You guys are a class act, and definite innovators and pillars of the R/C community! You guys make it fairly cheap and easy for beginners to get into flying, yet still have cheap and advanced planes as well. Job well done guys! I think it's safe to say no one can wait to see what you guys think of next! I own 2 of your planes so far ( spitfire and f-22 ) I will be ordering the Viggen tomorrow. If y'all ever make it to SouthEast Texas, give me a shout!
Now i have something Worthy of putting my new edf into. Its been waiting a while year for this Build !😎
Love it.
Now thats a Jet I could enjoy..!! thanks guys
Wow. You guys rock. The whole FT team is an asset to our hobby. Keep up the awesome designs and great videos. The positive, welcoming tone is so refreshing and badly needed in the world of RC flying. THANK YOU!
I maidened mine a week ago, it’s astonishingly easy to fly! I was doing inverted passes after just a couple minutes in the air.

I really love the third person camera mount you put on the vinyl FPV version, makes a really beautiful shot! Keep up the good work!

Kul avsnitt, bra jobbat David. Häftigt att Viggen blir en sån grym plattform för R/C
David-maybe since you built that, try the Saab JAS Gripen (love this vodeo)
This plane is flying so great, that I never had a crash with it. It's my only and favorite FT EDF plane.... I built speed build kit according to the constructors advice, with 70mm edf, 60amp esc, 3000mAh. Absolutely amazing.
I'm watching this again in 2017 and the part with the Afterburner crash is still just as hilarious. A classic moment.

One receiver, crisp please. =) What a beautiful looking plane. Do you have any info on the "dollar tree foam boards" you are using? Like thickness and or weight?
@RomiAlmeda
10 жыл бұрын
We use Adam's Readi Board, commonly referred to as "Dollar Tree Foam Board" because it is sold at the Dollar Tree for, well, $1 per 20x30" sheet. It is slightly heavier than Depron because of the paper lining but you can remove the paper much easier than Elmers foamboard to make it lighter. I hope this helps!
@ulaB

Rainy DayRC I'm in Germany, so I don't have access to a Dollar Tree :). That's why I wonder how thick the boards are (and perhaps the weight / sheet) so I can find something similar in our hobby shops. I'm new to this, so I don't know what people are using here.

Richard Harris If only it was that easy. The only close equivalent to foam board here is quite expensive and needs to be shipped from the other side of the country. It's usually not at all worth the expense.
@rickharriss
10 жыл бұрын
There are alternatives, perhaps not so good but close enough as this has a huge weight envelope - Corroflute for example - Often used in forsale signs. Insulation foam is available all over the world. There is a post in the tips on Foam board in Australia. At a push you could mod the design to use light ply and balsa. David has done all the hard work on the design.
@hotcarp12

Yeah? I'll give corflute a go, if I have any luck ill post some photos on the website. Thanks for your help Richard!

David, Wow! It looks great and flies even better. You have taken FT in a whole new direction. You're a genius! I really liked the airborne camera on the plane. You're going to have to do an episode on how that rig works.

Hi guys! I have a viewer request/challenge for you! :D I would be so insanely awesome if you could try to build a replica of Don Karnage's "Iron Vulture" from the Talespin cartoon and launch a plane from it in midair with FPV! In case you don't know what it is: It's basically a flying aircraft carrier with like 10 smaller lifting props and two big ones for forward motion. Pleasepleasepleaaaaase build it! :D //Cheers from Sweden

I use that mobius cam for everything! I haven't posted any videos of it yet, but I use it for FPV, Airsoft POVs, Normal recording, biking, you name it. I would definately recommend bc its such a good quality and small camera for really cheap.

This plane is phenomenal… I just love it. I built around 5 Viggen 3 with the same dimensions and 2 128% bigger , the bigger one is so much better with90 mm EDF but the common problem in all of them is the lack of ventilation for the electronics. That is why I made ventilators for the last 3. Thnx David it’s a great plane.
I would love to see a vid with more of the thrust vector viggen flying- it's really cool. As always, thanks for producing such great content!
