Watching these videos are therapeutic. Not only are they great build videos but Josh's voice seems to have a tremendous calming effect. Bad day at school/work/life in general? Watch a build video and once again, life will have some meaning....

I've been modelling for 50 years and this is my first Flite Test model as I fancied something different. Such a pleasure and easy build. Having never really looked at any of your videos I have to say I love the whole ethos of Flite Test well done. Very informed, funny and above all the passion shown about the hobby and getting the young uns' involved. I have yet to fly the Twin Sparrow in anger but looking forward to it as it's also a first with differential thrust. I haven't used a PD board in my set up and was wondering if you still do for your twin set ups. Keep up the good work. Tony

I just finished my FT Sparrow, it's the first plane I've ever flown without Safe Mode. It flew great, I'm impressed by your plane and can't wait to build more. The only problem I'm having is setting up directional thrust on my Spektrum 6X. I watched the video and tried the set up for directional thrust and could not get mine to work, keep in mind I'm using a different radio than you're in the video. Nonetheless, great plane, love flying it. I would definitely like to have the directional thrust at some point. Thank you FT family.

can this setup (using mixing to control 2 motors with the throttle) work with the Graupner Mz-12? I can't seem to figure it out, there is no throttle option in the mixing menu that I can find. should I use some sort of harness then to combine the throttles into channel1?

With these ESCs and d-board, is differential thrust possible with less than four mix channels? Doesn’t seem like it, unless I’m missing something. I have an FS-i6 with three mixes, so I think I need to replace the ESCs/d-board with ESCs that have BEC then mix off of the throttle channel (#3). Is this correct?

That soldering iron tip is HUGE! Also, do you guys keep a list or images of what was used? Your links are defunct or the products are gone.

As long as you use the right thickness of wire and don't make them too long, you should be fine.

Longer motor wires will generate more electrical noise and try to match wire lengths.

The motor on the aux channel will only spin when the flap is above 0%. How do I change it so it spins at negative?

Yes, the EMAX bullet ESCs don't have a BEC. The board can also provide stable voltage for a possible FPV camera / transmitter if you want to add that later.

Your ESCs must be mapped in an unusual way. I assume + and - are the side wires. So if you want the motor to spin clock- or counterclockwise, switch the side wires. But the center wire should always connect to the center wire on the motor. Oh and I love Brie, excellent joke. Last thing : spend a little more time on regular wood glue for plywood. No comments on hot glue, you seem to like it, I respect that.

Why he's making them spin in different ways? I think the main reason is so that the motors counteract each others torque. Or how he's making them spin in different ways? Brushless motors have three phases that get "fired" in order: 1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3. If you swap two of the wires (1 and 2), they will get fired 2 1, 3 2 1, 3 2 1, 3... Or if you swap 2 and 3: 1, 3 2 1, 3 2 1, 3 2 or if you swap 1 and 3: 3 2 1, 3 2 1, ... As you can see whichever wires you swap, they will result in the motor reversing the direction from 1 2 3 to 3 2 1. :)

Yes Balu is right the counteracting rotation keeps the plane from rotating to the left or right on the roll axis
