@ Melanie Matthews.. and it will be well worth it if you ask me.Here I am,30 years after,watching the original Kim and Chris and still gripped emotionally as when I saw them then albeit in the NY premier..Subsequently,I've seen other pairings but none compares to the ORIGINAL!

In an alternate universe, Kim and Chris ended up together and lived happily ever after.

After the song, Lea talks about the beginning of Miss Saigon and explains how frightening it felt for her when she was about to rehearse the love scenes with Simon, having had no experience with a boyfriend, let alone love before. Simon could see the anxiety in Lea, so he took her and her mum aside and told them: "You can trust me. I will take care of you. Don't worry, I will not take advantage of you." With the pressure of the leading role in a world premiere musical and the entire nation watching her, as well as in light of MeToo, this obviously means so much to Lea and she'll be forever grateful to Simon that he kept his promise. You can see clearly how deep their bond goes. Great respect for Simon Bowman!

Ķthat was so msny years back! Ms saigon was such a big hit i decided to go to new york to wTch it. After all it was my birthday! Was itv30 or 40byrs ago? So we went.. My husband 2vdaughters n me. Watching this now makes nybhair stand as i remember thatbscene...Dmiring such a small petite girl being kissed by a soldier. Then comes the helicopter....those scenes in new york were hair raising....seeing lea n simon now gives me the goosebumps and nostalgia of the beautiful eta of art n love! Watched it over n over!

He probably told Lea and her mom in secrecy that he's gay (not that im against it) so Lea and mom will be comfortable. Simon has never been married or have any children and known to have one. For a popular guy, his personal life is so remote. His wikipedia is almost empty. But, this duet reminds me of the past. We all get old and older. Sad reality.

+Esther Anne Bueno +Esther Anne Bueno i dont think so. If u notice he is struggling when singing on the first few sentences, not hitting the notes then suddenly he reach high notes with ease. Also from 6:18 u can see that his mike is not on his mouth but he still sound very clear, if its using leas mike, he should sound distant, but no. Same modulation.

Its 2023 now, 7th of January, still watching again and again these great actors/singers. The chemistry is beyond perfection! The respect for each other is so immense its almost reverence. Everything is effortless. You can't help being carried away into that place and time when love is almost perfect.

Well, I was there but I still ugly cried... lol. Simon's voice is like a force of nature filling the entire hall when he crescendoes... a perfect match to Lea's crystal clear sound.

How many years was that since 'Miss Saigon' was first played on stage? Goodness me I'm 70 now still don't get tired of watching these two. Just perfect!

Lea is part of Philippine history now. She's a legend it's not every day you get to be a part of history

This is what I love about Broadway and theater performances. They're no nonsense art. It's like you're being drawn into a time warp to witness such a magical scene. Feels like I'm in cloud 9.

To comment further who could not love Lea Salonga? It's appropriate that she voiced two disney princesses because she is a princess in the flesh. Timeless elegance with a voice as smooth as the ripples on a mill pond. Her enunciation of every word she sings delivers the full impact of every song. Too many performers are so in love with their voice they over sing and enunciation is an afterthought. She is the most polished singer the stage has ever known. The greatest most versatile female singer of all time...

One of the best duets ever, Sun and Moon and Last Night of the World, from the original production of Miss Saigon. Lea and Simon Bowman. None will ever compare to these two Actor/Singers. They're performances were superb, one of kind and were absolutely brilliant. They will always be what made MISS Saigon. They can do 100 Reproductions but none will ever compare to the original.

It’s June 2022, and I am sitting here listening and crying. Chris and Kim were a perfect, innocent, love, and no matter how many times I listen to Miss Saigon I cry.

it’s like a day has never passed. The chemistry is still definitely there. I wish they did more duets back then ❤️

You can see Simon Bowman is really enjoying performing with Lea Salonga. And the chemistry's so perfect!!! Can't wait for Lea and Simon to have album together.....

Pure class, elegance, high culture! No screaming, just pure singing. Lea is Lea. That's the original Kim in Miss Saigon. Such a complete privilege listening to Simon and Lea once again.

When he kissed the side of her forehead. That so moved me. That was a sign of a great friendship they have. Like a brother to a sister.

I saw the origional show in 1989 totally blown away love her voice only woman to ever make me cry and not ashamed to say it

I prefer the original Chris and Kim after hearing different versions. And I like their innocent interpretation compared to the bolder and passionate one depicted by other musical theater artists.

@@whitneysterk3555 Yes, the other singers can sing the songs very well but somehow I prefer the original interpretation (West End) when Lea was still very innocent (no boyfriend at age 18) since that was more in keeping with the character of Kim. It was supposed to be the first time for Kim in all aspects :) Lea, when older, interpreted the songs and the character of Kim in a more passionate way, though. Good thing my sis has the very first and original version of Miss Saigon with all the old songs (and interpretation) and lyrics still intact.

I adore Lea’s voice. She’s one of my favorite female singers but omg Simon. That voice. Like I can’t. It’s butter. It’s I don’t have words. Love them both. Chris and Kim forever. The talent is making me cry.

I show this to my mom and she cried because she remembers these two back then.

ewan ko lang nababaliw na ako sa kanila!!!! hndi ako maka move on sa mga original duets nila way back miss saigon. ilang ulit ko na pinanood. at lagi ako maiiyak. hayy naku galing2 ni Lea. Salamat for bringing Philippines to shine again in terms of theater. kahit ito ilang beses ko na napanood.

I watched Lea sing Last Night with other singers and it's different. After years of performing together and being friends, Lea and Simon's chemistry is undeniable. They can never replicate their version with anybody else. Lea and Simon are so good with each other that when I watch them sing these songs with someone else, it feels like they're being unfaithful LOL!

They are forever young to me when I first laid eyes on them from the start of Miss Saigon back in 1991.

considering i was too young to see Lea during her ICONIC run in Miss Saigon and Sun & Moon is only one of the greatest Broadway songs EVER i would have definitely paid top dollar to see this performance in person

One of the most profound musicals of my life..... living through Vietnam..... this musical and these actors helped me heal.
