Musical theatre fans were wowed with an exclusive performance last night (SUNDAY) as Lea Salonga was joined on stage by her former Miss Saigon co-star Simon Bowman.

Singer, actress, Broadway royalty, and two-time Disney Princess Lea was performing at Cardiff’s Wales Millennium Centre in the opening show of her debut solo UK tour.
And Simon Bowman surprised the sell-out audience by walking up on stage and duetting with Lea to perform A Whole New World from Aladdin.
Speaking after the performance Lea said: “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Simon on stage to perform with me this evening.
“It was a very special moment for me at the start of my debut UK solo tour and I think the audience enjoyed it too!”
Philippines-born Lea Salonga was just 17 when she was discovered by the producers of Miss Saigon, and cast in the lead role of Kim. She originated the role in London and New York, and won the Olivier and Tony Awards for best actress in a musical for her work in the show.
She then went on to play Eponine and Fantine in Les Misérables on Broadway and in the musical’s 10th and 25th anniversary concerts in London.
Younger audiences will recognise her pitch perfect tones as the singing voices of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin and Fa Mulan in Mulan and Mulan II - earning her the official title of Disney Legend.
Her most recent West End appearance was in 2014 as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations for Miss Saigon at the Prince Edward Theatre.
Away from the stage, Lea is a judge on the Philippines’ version of The Voice and has sold a staggering 19 million albums worldwide - making her one of the best-selling Filipina artists of all time. Her 2017 album Blurred Lines was followed by a sell-out run at New York’s renowned Feinstein’s / 54Below.
Having previously performed for the likes of The Queen, Diana, Princess of Wales, and former US presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, Lea boasts numerous accolades including an Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Theatre World Awards among others.

Philippines is blessed to have Lea Salonga. Our Princess... Timeless Voice. Aladdin was redone... and soon Mulan... Lea's magical voice will always be the Original Jasmine and Mulan.

@@jensue109 He wasn't listed as a special guest, so everyone was stunned. She just called him from the audience and we all went crazy. She is amazing live.
Saw him as Jean Valjean a few years back in the West End. A lovely guy. That bond from when he originated the role of Chris is warm and very genuine.
Oh it's Lea's first kiss ever @18 when Lea & Simon got the lead role in Miss Saigon. I'm sure Lea trusted Simon from the time he said to her, "I'm not gonna take advantage of you," from then on, they truly have a great partnership professionally and as friends.

jewell's amazing life lea remains very talented and her voice is still great but sorry I still prefer a good attitude! During signing of her CD after her show, her face shows that she’s rushing everyone in the cue, she’s tapping the table just like saying faster, faster to her fans, not giving them a chance to have a photo with her. And when my turn to have my Cd sign.... lea told me “no picture pls” with her voice sounds like so bossy. She didn’t even shake her hands to anyone there to show that she’s happy to see us. I was so disappointed because i am a big fan of her since annie days and that’s entertainment days.... MISS LEA SALONGA, i am speaking in behalf of my colleagues and friends who watched your show in cardiff.... this will be the first and last. We will never ever buy and watch your show ever again. Always remember... you may have the greatest talent in singing but without the fans and people who supported you, your show will be a big FLOP!! 😡😡

Aww I’m sorry you had such a bad experience with her 😔 I was gutted I didn’t get the chance to meet her afterwards but then again they do say never meet your heroes as you may be disappointed 😔 On this occasion I’m a little glad I didn’t now. jewell's amazing life yes she is still great on her performance. Pero sana maisip rin nila na kng di dahil sa mga fans na tumatangkilik sa kanila. Wala rin silang show! Nakakasama lng ng loob... di ko malimutan yung boses ni lea nung sabihan nya ako ng “no picture taking!” In a bossy manner. Todo ngit pa ako nung ako na yung magpapa pirma kase nga excited ako... tapos narinig ko yung boses nya na galit na bossy! As in nagulat at and of course napahiya. Then yung mga ibang pilipino yun rin ang sinabi... hindi sya approachable... ang matindi pa nito... dahil ayaw nyang magpa kuha ng picture... kahit malayo na yung mga taong kumukuha ng picture nya... yung mga guards nya pinagbabawalan rin ang ibang pinoy dun! As in pahirapan para lng makakuha ng picture kahit stolen shot! Sana maisip mo lea... tulad ng laging sinasabi ni Boy Abunda sa mga celebrities.... be nice to your fans dahil kung wala kang fans.... walang tatangkilik sayo! Si lea never pa nakipag kamay man lng sa fans just to express her gratitude. Walang kaway sa fans. Parang walang nakikita! She’s a big Snob and a massively arrogant person!

Gosh this is something. I remember seeing them so many years ago at the Theater Royal, had no idea what I was going to experience. Been a fan of Lea ever since.
