I have a friend whose mother is also a soubrette (an operatic term for a light soprano with a sweet, youthful timbre). She's in her 80's and still sounds like a young girl when she sings, just like Lea. It's one of the traits of a soubrette soprano. I told my friend his mom has a Disney princess voice. 🥰

Yeah it's obvious they dont realize they are in the presence of a goddess. Anyone who knows anything about musical theater would freak da eff out. I was a big fan of hers from Disney (Mulan is my fave) before I became a theater nerd, and lucky I got to see her on Broadway and in concert multiple times. SHE IS DIVINE!

I was so flabbergasted and astonished by all the accolades and achievements she accomplished as a singer and actress on stage Miss Saigon and Les Miserables stand out as one of the most beloved plays of all time. She's the original Kim and has won the Hall of Famer best actress award for Miss Saigon in the 1990s ( Tony Broadway, Sir Laurence Olivier West End, Drama Desk award London, etc. ). She was only given the honor by the Cameron Mckintosh to be the Eponine during Les Miserable's 10th anniversary concert and as Fantine during the 25th anniversary. That's a feat in one's stage musical career. And most of all, her crystal, heavenly like voice keeps getting better as she ages. She's more than 50 years old now but can pass still as a 30 year old+ LOL.

Didn't realized that "A Whole New World" could get a different meaning, to different people. Here, I can see the Father's love for his daughter - from watching and taking care of his little girl up until she grows into the woman she is today. It makes me teary eyed as I'm currently pregnant with my first baby (14 weeks) and single mom. I can't wait to sing and dedicate this song to them as it resonates with me deeply. I can actually see myself doing everything with them: through the ups and downs, and the unconditional love I have for them. I can't wait to have my little bundle in my arms! It truly is a whole new world.

Her voice from 1989 until our present this 2023 are still the same voices sound as one... Her 1989 voice was really timeless and ageless for her 52nd age this year... And yes she started her career as a movie Childsinger in the Philippines and also became active doing Filipino movies until once she became Miss Saigon in the late 80s and 90s and then she became special part of Wedding as we saw on this video. So perfection and beautiful

Lea is a pitch perfect singer. Never heard her lost out of tune. Audience are very luck to hear such a legend sing in front of them closely.

Booking Lea to perform is never easy. The father of the bride must’ve overcome so many hurdles to be able to have her. That’s love, what a lucky daughter… she’ll be forever a princess on her Dad’s eyes.

I’ve followed Lea for her entire career. Saw her in the original Miss Saigon in London. Many years later, she starred in a revival of Flower Drum Song on Broadway and auctioned off her earrings for charity….and I bought them. I’ve never done anything like that ever, but for Lea, I fell. Her voice lights up the world.

Lea is my all time favorite. I was in senior high school in the Philippines when Miss Saigon debut in London. When I went to college, I was able to buy Miss Saigon CD and I memorized Miss Saigon by listening to it over and over. My dream was to finish my nursing so I could go to US and watch Miss Saigon - if it's still running and Lea still playing Kim. You're so lucky to watch her perform.

I hardly knew who she was when I sat down in the eighth row @The Royal Theatre on Drury Lane in London. She was so young and starred opposite the legendary Jonathan Pryce. Then she sang and the world changed. The theatre was in rapt attention and for two and a half hours the only sound was the breath of the audience. I will never forget that night as long as I live. Lea Solange WAS Miss Saigon!

It's genuinely something wonderful to see people enjoy Lea Solonga's voice all across the world. Lea Salonga is one of the best Broadway singers, one of the best Disney singers, and is a Philippine gem. I still cry when I hear her sing.

Incredible! I can't imagine the discipline and training she practices to maintain and protect that voice. I don't know any 50+ vocalist that still sing with the strength and clarity of their youth. She's on a level all by herself!

Kudos also to the guy who performed with Lea. It's not easy to sing with a legend but he brought justice to the song as well.

Who’s cutting onions?! 😭 Gosh she has the sweetest and most awesome dad ever!! Omg this brought tears to my eyes. I would freak out seeing Lea sing at my wedding. Lucky girl to have such a thoughtful dad. ❤ That was truly magical. Had to have been the highlight of her wedding!! Geezzz how do you top that. I’m sure all the parents at her wedding were singing along deep down 😂. I’m 42 and I still know every word to this song. I will forever love Disney. Lucky guests might I add!! I don’t think any of them realize how insanely hard to get Lea Salonga to perform like this! This woman sells out arenas at every concerts she’s had.

What an amazing honour to have Lea Salonga sing at your wedding reception. Lucky bride. It was a wonderful and kind thing for Lea to do this for them! She’s such a lovely person. Have always admired her, not just for her talent as a singer and actress but for her kindness. 🥰

As much as I have pride for Lea Salonga being such a world class talent representing my home country, I have to give most of the credits to the dad in this video. He went all the way to make his daughter's wedding extra special. It just shows how much he loves and cares for his baby.

I had the pleasure of being around at this private waterfront wedding, not as a guest but as a mere spectator to this event. As a friend of the owners of Lowndes Grove in Charleston, I was at this sprawling 15 acre paradise overlooking the Ashley River to the west. I had the distinct honour of meeting Leah Salonga as I eavesdropped inside the function room and witnessed this very rare occasion. As a little girl growing up in Myrtle Beach in SC, I watched countless Disney films throughout my childhood. My all time favourite was Mulan. I was 3 years old in 1998 when I watched the film. My utmost dream was to be like Mulan and to the extent even play the part in acting plays in primary school but I never got the chance to fulfil that dream since I don't possess oriental features at all. Instead, I'm a white girl of Anglo-Saxon descent and being blonde deprived me even further of achieving my goal. I was so overjoyed in meeting Leah Salonga in the flesh and hearing her serenade the bride. Somehow, my lifelong dream became a reality' not by having to play the part itself but to have met the person who inspired so many young girls like me to pursue a cherished aspiration in using her voice to bridge the gap between peoples of different races and cultures.

u can be proud, but as a filipino american and i can imagine other races reading this, would get second hand embarrassment. this is the problem with lack of representation. you guys act so desperate and make being proud over something as little as this. lea is a filipino singer but she’s been a loved singer worldwide since forever too. SHE was in broadway and disney. THE way filipinos make it their entire personality to identify thru these celebrities just because we are the same nationality is cringe. this isn’t a song competition or world cup. mentioning our country like this just screams begging for any crumbs💀

How on earth can Lea Salonga, now over 50 years old, have such a young-looking face, beautiful teeth, and radiant smile? And she still sings with her very even, medium-rate vibrato on many of the longer notes of the songs. She is truly a magically gifted person and performer. We are blessed that she still chooses to perform and sing around the world.

That's the difference between a pop or a balladeer and a rocker.. a rocker always throw a party after concert which could damage their vocal cord,a balladeer will just go back to the hotel and sleep after the show 😆
