it's sad how most Filipinos don't give her the amount of appreciation she deserves. She's the most humble and talented artists I have ever got to see. You don't see her flexing her house, or her car, or her watch collection, or jewelry collection. Instead, she decides to show her personality without shame and not act like a "celebrity" as she should but acts like she's one of us, doesn't want special treatment, unlike most celebrities.

if youre an honest..straightforward woman..always speak whats on her mind..most filipinos sees that as boastful..rude..not proper..etc..most filipinos(not all) dont like opinionated strong woman..thats too much for their ego esp men to handle..they dont appreciate those achievements she did all they saw was her taking to social media her sentiments about Philippines...all those achievements gone in a blink of an eye..too sad

@@jameliaarguson1644 I don't believe it's an issue about her being a woman with strong opinions. Sexism (apart from lgbtq issues) is not a Filipino issue as far as I know. We've had a female president before point in case. I think the issue there is more of the political inclination of the masses. They tend to protect their political figureheads and it just so happens that Lea and other successful people have opinions too and whatever they say or tweet becomes a big deal and that's just the way it is wherever you may be. Regarding OP's comment, I think it's just that Filipinos love the belters and we're not as inclined to appreciate the greatness of how perfect Lea's pitch is across her range. We've had so many great singers who could soar really high in terms of notes but none of them are like Lea when it comes to accuracy. The only person I could compare as far as accuracy and beautiful voices are concerned is I think, is Ms Pilita. Out of curiosity, I listened to Pilita's singing during her prime and her singing is just surreal when compared to today's singers. No, she didn't sing with all those soaring notes and of course most of her songs where the oldies tune but her accuracy and the sincerity of her singing is like a combination of Regine and Lea, definitely world class. Lea is already renowned worldwide and even if the masses at home don't seem to appreciate her enough, I mean, that's just like how it is in a family too... So, oh well, right?

I am now 67 years old and I have followed Lea Salonga's performances since she was a child. I admire her God-given talent. She is the pride of the Philippines.

I’m quite a bit younger. But my third musical was Miss Saigon in London where I worked. Back around 23 years ago now. I saw this young beauty called Lea, and had no idea she would have such an impact on me.

He’s perfect… She’s perfect… What a gift to this world they are!!!

Lea is such a perfect artist, very wholesome. The way she dressed up herself, speak, acted and even her choices are a good example for the youth to emulate. She is very respectful to her mother and a loving sister to her brother. She has a spectacular voice that no one can copy her originality.

I am just so proud that we Filipinos have Lea. Protect her at all cost.
