They sing "don't cry.." but I actually cried when Latvia did not get to finals. This song is a true masterpiece. The stage, vocals, meaning of the song, it was pure perfection. Too good for Eurovision. One of the best vocal performance of the evening.

Since I follow Eurovision, I've cried twice for an elimination of a country that is not mine. The first was five years ago with Greece and the second was tonight with Latvia. Thank you Latvia for melting my heart of ice! And come on for next year! All the best from Italy!

Thank You for sharing this gem with us, I am disappointed that they didn’t qualify, I don’t need them in the final, and they don’t have to prove anything in the final, I just wanted the rest of the world to listen to this music. But they got a place in my heart, I am an Eurovision fan since I was a child, a lot of time ago, and I never was so in love with a song like this one. So thank you again. ❤

Had they won the ROTW vote, they would have qualified. Although Serbia would have been in the Top with the ordinary televote and the Global Vote and still wouldn't have made it, which would have been a travesty as well, similar to Albina in 2021. Maybe Latvia should have made it instead of Switzerland.

Still 3 months later. I watch this performance and it brings tears in my eyes and sends shivers all over the body. How was this not good enough?!

Sudden lights are latvian band and all latvian guys in it. No Germany involved (maybe some german genes from middle ages 🤭)

I am so impressed by the quality of this performance. Everything, the music, the song, the artistry and uniquness of the composition, the lights and the staging. This is one of the best eurovision songs of all time. It has a quality that most of the entries can only dream of. True artists ❤️

Four countries from Semi-final 1 finished in the overall top 5 in the Grand Final of ESC. None of the Semi-final 2 songs did. Latvia was 3 points away from qualifying, finishing 11th. I am 99% convinced that they would have easily qualified from Semi-final 2, if the allocation was just a tad different. Perhaps not even as a borderline, but as 7th/8th. Which is both comforting and frustrating! What a masterpiece Aija is!

The plan was simple. PROTECT LATVIA AT ALL COST! What went wrong?

The Netherlands and Latvia should have made it to the finals! Such beautiful performances, both vocally and visually

It really bothers me how close this song was to qualifying and finally bringing back Latvia to the grand final! This entry is art, authenticity, sensitiveness and so much more. Juries would have placed it higher, I think. Europe, you failed Latvia (again).

This is the performance that I keep coming back to when I think of Eurovision 2023. It’s kind of addictive in that after you’ve listened to it, you really want to just listen one more time.

Even though they didn’t make it, thank you to Latvia for sending this wonderful song. It will remain as one of my favourites of the year.

I am a Latvian and seeing so many beautiful comments from everyone means so much to us❤ we are so proud of Sudden Lights. They are our winners❤

The fact that their live performance vocals are completely the same as in the studio recording… These guys are so underestimated, I really hope they will be in the finals

After a month I gotta say, this deserved at least top 5 in the finale... it is a master piece

So many things went wrong at last years Eurovision. I'm still thinking Finland should have won. And yes I'm biased as a Finn, and also Latvia and Sudden Lights absolutely deserved a spot in the finals. I absolutely adore this song, and I'm a metalhead.

One of the best songs to ever nq. For the future generations who will wonder, the odds has never been in their favor: televote only sf, Latvia's voting history, drawing 1st half, incredibly strong semi... but these boys fought hard, amping up the stage from nf even had to practice on the streets of Liverpool. Disagree. There’s not really anything memorable about this. 15th for me last night.

When I was younger, my mother used to help me to sleep with lullabies and stories. Almost 9 years after her passing, I discovered Aija. This song became instantely my favorite of the whole contest this year. I can connect it with my childhood, and how I'm feeling now. Mother's day in France is close, and each year, since my mother passed on Mother's day, I dedicate her a song. This year, this special song will easily be Aija... That being said, I am not surprised but absolutely gutted this didn't make the finals. Sudden Lights, you may will not win Eurovision, but you won our hearts 🥰

A pretty much perfect performance of a very strong song that, sadly, wasn’t in the most televote-safe genre. I hope Sudden Lights and the Latvian delegation aren’t too downhearted - they really did themselves proud and picked up lots of new fans across Europe.

Their energy displayed during the performance were truly impressive. Aijā has magnificent rhythm and give me goosebumps every time I listen to it. I'm delighted to have discovered them through Eurovision. Wishing the band continued success in their future endeavors. Love from Turkey ❤

At the moment I‘m writing this, the qualifiers haven‘t been revealed yet, I‘ll either cry tears of joy or disappointment. This performance was everything, my winner since the first listen, this song will stay in my heart until I die. Well done Latvia 🇱🇻, well done Sudden Lights. No matter what will happen, don‘t forget about this song, or I should rather say this piece of art. I'm a big eurovision fan and I've never felt something like this watching a eurovision performance. I've been in love with this song for months, since it was chosen, and I have been amazed by every perfomance you've made since. And you still managed to completely go beyond my expectations tonight. I voted for you, sadly you didn't qualify, but you have a new (and thousands more) fan. Streaming your songs and following your work. Tons and tons of love, from Portugal ❤

Why did precisely the year these legends participated have to be the year where they removed juries from the semi finals😭 This would’ve gotten top 5 with the juries *at worst*

Best stage lights and camera angles I've ever seen. Especially the outro. It seems like a concert of some world star. Bravo!

I think that's one of the main reasons why they didn't qualify. Many people need time to get into this song (the key changes might be a bit too off putting; personally I LOVE it) - which is never a good sign for an ESC song. BUT what comes after Eurovision is so much more important and I think they got many, many new fans who will be there to support them

Some songs are just not appreciated in Eurovision as much as they should be. This song is a masterpiece and was so beautifully performed. Guys, you can return to Latvia with your heads held high because you’ve made such an impact to many people and you were a true winner in my eyes

In tears with the final part, I have it on repeat. Im spanish and i have no idea of Latvian but I simply cant explain the feeling with these lines🥹🥹🥹

You have no idea how much I cry during this performance and how devastated I feel like when I know they didn't qualify. This song is way too good for eurovision. People just couldn't see

The ending in latvian language was the most touching part of the whole semi final. And the orange colour fits it so well.

I’m so sad that Latvia didn’t qualify. Sudden Lights gave an amazing performance, the vocals were beautiful and emotional. Definitely a qualifying performance both vocally and visually, they were so professional. Wish I could vote for you guys. Love from Greece and I’m definitely going to hear the music you make 🇬🇷🇱🇻

I don't care about the contest at all anymore. This song is my favorite of this year and it made me go and listen to Sudden Lights' other songs as well and I now have Latvian songs on my playlist.

If there is a single song that can stand outside the Eurovision universe, this is the one. Absolutely amazing song. The last 30 seconds make me shiver to the extremes. I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard this one and I was so sad I couldn’t vote for it because Greece was not voting. Absolutely amazing song.

The ending always get me. I Can tell this is very latvian song, which mean very beatifull. It is not for eurovision, cause eurovision is all about the show. This song is for hearts.

This song is being slept on most this year. In my humble opinion, vocally, this was THE BEST live version. Singer was soo good, so smooth, literally comparable to studio version. I am super sad that it did not qualify. Much love Latvia, from Czechia.
