That part of the F line was installed in 1919. The line was then called the Culver El and originally opened with wooden El trains that were lightweight. The trestle under the tracks is an exact copy of the trestle of crossbars of the first El train line that opened in Brooklyn in 1885. The early el trains had steam locomotives pulling and pushing the trains.

That has nothing do with this situation. As of last year, the MTA had allowed trains to ride 5 miles faster. Honestly, they may have to reduce the speed again.

Stick to the point cut is not the problem

People have been pulling the emergency brakes all of the sudden. Probably a tik tok prank type thing. Besides the most recent derailment which was attributed to such an act I was on the N train (yellow line) and it was stalled for 40 minutes underground when someone pulled emergency brakes in late December.

If you watch the video one of those potential reasons is a 'sudden stop' which could result from an emergency brake being pulled. Again, I am not sure if this is the cause but I have had anecdotally noticed that this has been happening suddenly.

No not 20 years. I was here in 2020 and there was an A train derailment from someone putting a clamp object on the track. The LIRR also suffered a derailment near Jamaica in 2023

Just a quick search online shows that there was a train derailment in Oklahoma and another in PA earlier in the year.

The newer f trains have 10 cars, the older f trains have 8 cars. It could be a broken rail by W 8th St as with the curve as most aren’t speeding into Neptune Ave.

Hey this is not only a problem because of the speed. This problem is that the Mta workers don’t want to really do there jobs. All spring and summer you just see the mta workers with coolers, cigars in mouth and complaining about how they don’t get enough money. I’m so sick of these city workers.

I knew someone who got a job on an MTA repair crew. Often they went to a job where there were no supplies to make the repairs with.

Yet another reason why we need congestion pricing: it'll provide the funds to do a system-wide track overhaul.

They are all out of town people that just come here to work and exploit the city for money, and couldn't care less whether the city lives in congestion or the transportation system is in ruins. At the end of the day they'll go back to their nice, quiet neighborhoods in Long Island, Jersey or upstate ny and never experience the problems that true new Yorkers have to live through. ...but no matter how many lawsuits they fabricate to repeal congestion pricing, they will never be able to stop it 🤣, poor losers.
