Substitute Ferret - Sunrise Ferreting 17

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

A fly on the wall view of a ferret rounding up rabbits in to nets.
This is Brook, a four year old jill ferret with years of experience. I brought her in to the team to lower the amount of work Apollo and Athena will be doing, until Leto comes of age.
I have trouble getting the long net poles deep enough on this hill as the ground is very rocky as you can see. I'm using purse nets to tether them down for extra stability.

Cracking video mate, I’m a 16 year old lad who loves nothing more than a bit of ferreting and it’s gd to see you getting some nice numbers of healthy rabbits with a brilliant working ferret. Keep up the good work and we’ll hopefully see more footage soon of you and your crew in action. Happy hunting

Out of the four I have, I could only really use her and one other on this hill at the moment. The hobs too strong and the young jill isn't old enough yet. My cameras can be spread very thin on larger warrens but I'll have a go at filming one later on in the season with a few ferrets on the job. I really like my flat plastic pegs, not sure which video would show them the best, but when angled a bit more horizontal to the ground they always go in.

It just flew up this year when my views spiked. I'll add you in to my featured channels, should get some traffic that way. I'd really like to get a dog, I just don't have the time at the moment. I hope to eventually, I'm sure it will bring new challenges to the way I film things. Editing one at the moment. I'm aiming to film enough to do monthly releases for all of 2019. If I can film enough to get me to next Christmas then that would be a nice overlap of the season. Easier said than done.

I haven't. I have herd from others that a pure polecat is too successful at killing rabbits below ground, rather than flush them in to nets. They are not as social with other ferrets and are harder to tame. So overall they are not really worth it.

Thing is, ferrets have lost some of their strength and senses. Breeding some new blood back in can help, but your waiting a few generations down the line for optimal results. There’s no point completely breeding out the human relationship from them.

Ferreting is usually done through the winter months when snakes won’t be active. There is only one poisonous snake in the UK, the adder. If there was an encounter, the adder would warn the ferret to keep its distance as they themselves would not want to fight a ferret.
