Frantic Ferret Foray - Sunrise Ferreting 23

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Athena the old pro takes Leto out for another hunting lesson. Young Leto takes a while to settle and focus on the task in hand.
The hedge that runs along this flooded field is overun with rabbits. The warren beside this paticular one is too big for me to currently net, let alone film. The fields to the other side of this hedge are used for growing crops and during the warmer months the fields can be eaten back by twenty meters or so. If these rabbits are not kept in check, the crop the farmer grows here will simply become rabbit food. The farmer would be forced to raise his prices to compensate for the loss. If rabbits were allowed to do this on a mass scale, the price of our supermarket products would rise.

These rabbits are collected for food, for my ferrets and people. This is a free range meat, that has lived a free life. These rabbits will be controlled even without me. By taking them myself, the meat is used. Ferreting is an environmentally friendly method of harvesting free range meat.

For KZread Review - This video is edited in a self explanatory way for all languages to understand. People under the age of 18 also practise ferreting and I aim to set a mature example. Contact between the animals is brief and is not the focus of the video. Rabbit dispatches are not shown. No blood or gore is present.

    This is nature's way of dealing with zillions of rabbits being born constantly. Rabbits reproduce endlessly to insure that at least some will survive to adulthood; small carnivores, in turn, depend on a constant supply of rabbits to keep them alive.

    @@drcherubkharbanda9362 Because if there aren't carnivores eating rabbits, there will be WAY too many rabbits. Thanks! Also behind the scenes I'm changing camera positions, settings, angles, batteries etc. It especially becomes a problem when the ferreting becomes hands on, like this outing did. Yeah the rabbits absolutely react to the cameras presence. No way around it really if I want to film a day out. I'm sure they would be fully aware of the foreign body even if I switched to night vision.

    @@ZeusPolecat I remember my mother told about her dad clearing up the field with his animal friend that he used to own and hunt with!And that is perhaps the only animal that can both unearth in several minutes and also outrun a hare!He actually tried clearing field with a huge male Siberian tiger Neron of hares!And those since they first met were Neron's pain in the butt:they were very exhausting to catch but delicious and closely resembling his favourite meal and his favourite toys,rabbits and bunnies(live only)-which he really loved to play with and devour alive,since in 6 months old he was beginning to get a hunting training course given to him by grandad! Anyway grandad had to give him an additional course to teach him to take down those!Obviously those were mostly hiding as well as rabbits,yet Neron didn't unearth those as those were given to him by grandad and mom,so couldn't get underground!And hares were obviously 99,9% of the time underground and that is how they fixed the problem:first of all as Neron couple of times unearthed foxes,he was not that hard to teach that,yet than grandad decided to apply his natural and guy i very strong repellent for lagomorphs that any cat has actually,scent marking!So he either peed in the hole and waited for the bitch to chase or unearthed them mechanically! So through the course of 3 days they got entire fridge full of meat,and ate a crap load of these too!

    A long time ago I also had ferrets. I got a brown one from a gardener, it knew how to hunt well and its victims always had bite wounds on the anus. An albino male I got from a city apartment, where it was only supposed to be a toy for the children. This ferret was lazy and did not walk the corridors of rabbits. But it smelled strongly and from the smell the rabbits fled and quickly went into the nets. My hunt was along the railroad tracks, the highways, in city parks, and cemeteries. In some places I could not kill the rabbits and had to collect them in a box. Some people were annoyed that I was catching the rabbits, other people wanted to see me more often because the rabbits were eating the plants in their garden. My goal was to prevent damage from the burrows of the rabbits. The rabbits came to me first in the freezer and then in the roasting oven. No other hunters had a problem with me and my ferrets.

    @m.esslinger4669

    4 жыл бұрын

    Ja die Kaninchen sind eine Plage in diesem Masse, da sie unter anderem ihre Bauten auch auf Weiden machen, können sie für Nutztiere gefährlich werden. Dazu kommt noch daß durch eine Überpopulation und zu wenige vorhandene natürliche Prädatoren, Seuchen ausbrechen damit der Bestand sich einigermaßen natürlich reguliert, die aber wiederum ebenfalls für die Nutztiere gefährlich werden können, da Kaninchen sich sehr gerne, wie die Wanderratte auch, in menschlichen Kulturlandschaften aufhalten. Ist beim Fuchs genau dasselbe, Kulturfolger, nennt man solche Tiere auch. Die Kaninchen werden hier von Hand getötet, in dem ihnen das Genick gebrochen wird, dasselbe würde auch das Frettchen von selbst machen wenn es ein Kaninchen zu fassen bekäme. Warum es beim sogenannten Frettieren, wie man diese Jagdart nennt, darauf ankommt daß der Jäger es versucht zu meiden daß ein Frettchen ein Kaninchen im Bau tötet, hat der simple Grund daß ein Frettchen für seine Körpergröße einen ziemlich starken Biss hat und man sie dann nicht mehr so einfach von der Beute los bekommt. Das Andere was noch hinzu kommt ist: wenn ein Frettchen ein Kaninchen im Bau tötet und sich daran noch sättigt, kann es passieren daß dieser kleine Kobold noch ein Nickerchen im Bau hinlegt und nicht mehr so schnell daraus kommt. Also sind sogenannte Frettchenfinder/Baujagdsender eine ziemlich gute Absicherung sein tierischen Jagdfreund am Ende des Tages wieder nach Hause nehmen zu können.

    I don't hunt during the summer while the rabbits are breeding. If I did catch a baby rabbit, I'd check it for injuries, then release (hopefully without the famer seeing). If it was injured, yes It would become ferret food.
