Back in the early and mid '70's, Boz used to have a standing invitation to my house anytime he was home from touring. I knew his younger brother Ricky well and he would let me know when his brother would be in town. I would plan a pool party, get some goods to barbeque and at least one keg of beer (for those hot Dallas nights) and an open bar. They brought the liquor and I filled the bar with mixers. I would have about 20 - 25 people over. He would often grab one of my guitars and I would play my bass and we would just jam a bit. The most notorious night was the night I had both he and Stevie Ray Vaughn over. The three of us started playing by that pool. People were falling asleep listening and waking up later to listen some more. We played until the sun came up and everybody who had lasted the night all went out to breakfast. Historic night in my memory.

Wow, I wish I was a fly on the wall at that pool party! 70's were the BEST daze of my life! It was totally opposite from these uncertain times. I had just came back from the war after two tours and was ready to make up for lost time and boy, did I .

@@sonnytavares2006 Kudos to you for your service. I was 4F (birth defects) but many of my buddies did one or two tours. One worked for a 3 letters outfit and wore European clothes and carried Belgin weapons. Another was a crazy Ranger. I became a blues musician. Never quite made it big but I helped a lot of others get there. Played the Jalapeno circuit mostly. Was always happy to have ex-military at our shows. And a good time was had by all.

kinda sexy, sultry lyrics that you don't expect a man of almost 80 years to sing, but it's his song and he wrote it in his prime 45 years ago, and it's a masterpiece. I've always loved this song and Boz Scaggs is a seriously amazing musician.

Just a beautiful song, with a sad story displayed by Boz's emotional voice. Definitely hear the David Foster influence with great piano skills. Fabulous. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Neal. Boz Scaggs had no idea how big he was Down Under until his first tour here in 1978, which included a concert at the Perth Entertainment Centre. “I was like ‘Oh my god, I feel like a star’,” he says. “I was given such a reception enormous crowds and such a great reception.” and I was one of the lucky ones to see him in Sydney. Peace out.

Hi Harri ... what a wonderful song ... from when I used to live in the Bay Area (San Francisco, or more accurately, Oakland, California). Boz used to sing for Steve Miller until he went solo, and you can see why BOTH things happened. This song was originally released on the album, Silk Degrees, which came out in the 70's while I was living out there, where ALL the great music was emanating from at that time. All around where I was living, there were VERY famous groups like Tower of Power, Sly & The Family Stone, The Steve Miller Band, Montrose, The Grateful Dead, Credence Clearwater Revival, Sammy Hagar, The Tubes, Santana (and his brother's band, Malo), Janis Joplin (& her band, Big Brother and the Holding Company), Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Journey, Van Morrison, Doobie Brothers, Hoodoo Rhythm Devils, Graham Central Station, Elvin Bishop, Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen, Dan Hicks And The Hot Licks, Hot Tuna, Huey Lewis And The News, Pointer Sisters, Eddie Money, Pablo Cruise, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Y&T (called Yesterday and Today when I lived there) ... Is it any wonder I just thought that was the way music was supposed to sound ... EVERYWHERE ??? I not only HEARD these groups on the radio but saw many and roadied for a few of them. I met Eddie Money one night while working as a "fill-in" roadie for the group, Yesterday and Today (now Y&T). I was friends of the bands, but because I wasn't a "regular roadie", I wasn't allowed to sit directly on stage. I had to sit backstage in a waiting room and, while there, Eddie Money came in. He was just getting started in the area, and was doing the rounds, building connections, so he showed up to do a "meet-and-greet" with anyone he could find. Surprise, I was the only person there, so we "shot the shit" for a bit. After a while, he spotted an old acoustic guitar sitting in the corner, picked it up and began to play. He was a really nice guy ... and very personable. I liked him. I'm sure I was forgotten the moment he left, but still, I was always grateful for those moments, and was sad to hear of his passing. I should write a book, right ??? I've certainly got enough stories. Oh yeah, Night Ranger (1979) came from that area, in the year following my exit from the state (November 1978).

I like his guitar playing, it's simple let the instrument play it's part, but don't over do it We sometimes forget to let the instruments to take us away. The build with the piano and add each piece of the band comes in perfectly. Love this music.

Thank you, love Boz Scaggs. JOJO was my favorite but more of his music came back to me. I remember this song in the 70's. Loved it.

The whole "Silk Degrees" album is great. Remember when it came out in 1976. It has a bluesy sound to it. Two of his most famous songs from that album are "Lowdown" & "Lido Shuffle". Some other songs are "It's Over", "What Can I Say", "Harbor Lights", "Georgia", "Jump Street" etc.

Boz is so talented. I have many of his albums for so many years now. Sings so bluesy and soulful and his fellow musicians are wonderful too. He can t make a bad song. Great revue Harri.

Never thought I'd see a reaction to this here. Or a live version! Thank you.

I don't envy you, having to find words to say after this. The only song more beautiful (IMO) than this is 'Sierra' - live version from this same concert, I believe.

Whats' to say Boz Scaggs one of the best now with over 50 years and still out on tour this day. His voice was the key to his music and he had the beat, the blues, the disco, and the rock and roll. He started with Steve Miller Band and then striking out on his own, including work with Booker T & the MGs as a studio backup. You need to go to his early days and try some of his other music:
