Stug III Ausf D Restoration by Jon Phillips Part 2
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Stug III Ausf D, chassis number 90678 was captured by the British in El Alamein in North Africa and was taken to the UK for tests and study.
This tank was recovered from the Pirbright fire range in UK, and was then part of Kevin Wheatcroft collection.
The new owner Jon Phillips then acquired it and has collected almost 100% of the parts necessary to complete this restoration project. More info at stug3restoration.blogspot.co.uk

As a woodworker unfamiliar with metal working, I can only imagine the immense challenge of restoring a rusty, cracked, warped, and perforated tank hull. In a previous life, you must have operated one of these bad boys! Having a look at the cracked and twisted bits, I'm in complete awe over the craftsmanship, skill, and dedication illustrated here. Much respect! Thank you for sharing.
Jon Phillips, has done a great job restoring his Stug III. I imagine by now he's been able to drive it at Tank events in the UK & Europe. It would be nice to see it in action.
Build another 17 vehicles, and you can support a whole infantry division. Got to be worth a try.
I love how people are doing this, it's kind of sad that these tanks are being taken and used for target practice, I mean on a piece of beautiful history! thank you!

Dear Jon, congratulations to you for achieving so much from such a poor starting point. It looks fantastic and I hope you manage to get it running somehow. Regards Dyfed
Amazing. I would have thought it impossible and never tried. You have done a great thing preserving that piece of history. Thanks for posting.
Glad that people like you fix these tanks up. I'm in the Australian Army and it frustrates me when we use tanks for target and Dems practice.
i don't want a car, i want a fucking stug!!!! :D

(1:1 scale)
I imagine it is a real nightmare to find parts for something like that. It looks as if a lot of the parts were remade for the running gear. Thanks for an amazing job conan amazing machine.
Thank you for restoring this amazing piece of history, it was not much more than scrap. What a unbelievable job you have done, thank you one more time.
absolutely fantastic job, the patience and dedication you must have to rebuilt this is amazing. Thank you for posting this.

Great job Jon. Your welding is first rate. nice
Nothing short of remarkable!
Absolutley Brilliant!!! Well Done !!
Wow thanks for making this video. Best wishes.
Congratulations on a great work!!
Great job! Thank you for posting the video!
This is like an inspirational story. "Oh man I don't know if I can do such and such. It's so hard and almost impossible." Then this guys rebuilds a tank from a a range target thats literally broken in pieces and parts salvaged from around the world. I don't have many excuses now.
Looks fantastic
im late to this video. but your work is remarkable. im blown away by your accomplishment.
Gostei da trilha sonora , excelente trabalho de restauração 👏
Very interesting thanks for sharing. It looks great
Awesome history youre saving.
Amazing work! Thx for sharing!
Wonderful work. Top!!!
Speechless !
Good Show! This is a fantastic result of TLC and dedication, transforming a shot-to-hell rusted metal box into a recognizable relic of the Second World War. It's a magnificent accomplishment - the patching and welding, and the restoration of the running gear(in the first video) is especially impressive. The Stug III at the end of this video is in the finishing-up stage, and may take as long as the work so far(or else fabricate replacements, an expensive choice)....still, Well done!
Nice work !!
nice video and great job on the restore. it's surprising to hear Panzerlied associated with a Stug. but the version chosen is good also.
So cool!
Amazing so much passion! Btw i love this "happy" version of Panzerlied !
Amazing.
What great history here.
One of my favorite tank destroyer in WOT.....
We have tanks on our ranges here in Australia. It saddens me to see them shot up.
Excellent work Dear Jon, a really new life for this Stug III Ausf D . The next will be a Stug IV ? 😊😊😉👍🏻 I love history of german's tanks since i have 12 years, i have now 48 years and i'm always interesting by these ones. I'm french so my english is not perfect, sorry. Respect for your work. David.
👏👏👏👏 felicitaciones desde argentina muy buen trabajo 👍
Very Nice!! ☺
Wow Mick, thats amazing!!great work man. can you ship her to the states so i can take a spin around the woods near my family camp? lol, only in a perfect world.
She's beautiful!
zbV is an abbreviation for the German term "zur besonderen Verwendung" meaning "Special Purpose". It is usually translated "For Special Employment".
Where would you find the men who are able to reconstruct these vehicles and the parts? The drivers of the Stugs must have been really good to be able to get the gun on target... Love to be able to see the finished product...
Damn dude that sucks that you repaired that battle damage eh? Feel your pain
love your view ;-)
Great job, Well done! I was just wondering about the three returnrollers on the left side of the stug...…..is there a way to use rubber forklift wheels?
nice!
Impressive
Cute! Hitler didnt only have a soft spot for animals, but also for cute tanks with adorable tiny barrels.
You should start a go fund me or a patreon for Jon Phillips and SPREAD the word LIKE NOBODYS BUISNESS he is seemingly doing all this by himself with limited funding
Very good Mick one question is the gun functional

Actually, the Germans and British had great respect for one another. No war crimes were commited on both sides, and P.O.W's on both sides were treated with the greatest respect. This is why they called the battle of North Africa the "Gentleman's War"

there are other songs the "das panzer lied "that you can use as music to go with your builds guys , or atleast use different version.

can it reach Poland on one tank of gas?
if say a ship sank in ww2 with tanks on it and we could retrieve them would they still be in good shape?
Nice build - some commentary would be better than just music
(I thought Alfred Hitchcock died forever ago.). At the risk of stating the obvious, should've lowered it. As for an engine, you can't go wrong with most LS/LT swaps but I would recommend the ZZ572. (Now I can't remember what video this is ...).

When you want to restore WW2 German tanks, you need a stack of cash.
You need the real Panzer Lied March. No a hippie song.
он хоть заводиться?
Great restoration. Nazi music...could do without.
@mangothecat2390
5 жыл бұрын
Well, it is not really Nazi music as you call it such. In my service time as a Tanker in the Bundeswehr we were trained to sing this song. We just let out the pro facist parts
@scootergeorge9576

So the music is facist in origin but cleaned up. Okay... My German is virtually non existent. Took one semester in college and received a C (2.0) which was higher than I actually deserved.
