Now you need the trailer that carried the clamshell excavator. The U.S. Army used these to emplace and break down the 240mm howitzer (one crane for each two-gun battery). Each one towed a 4-wheel trailer with shoring timbers and a clamshell bucket to dig the gun pit necessary to allow high elevation shots of the howitzer.

The reason they were called “Quik Way”is because they could be quickly tranformed from a crane to a back hoe. I knew a man who owned and used a Quickway for cesspool and septic tank work. It was mounted on a late forties model GMC.

Very restoration I absolutely love the way the engine sounds I must be a flat head if you get the twist out of the load line and get yourself a 60 pound headache ball it will work much better and if It keeps twisting you can should get yourself non rotating cable anyway keep that old iron running 🇨🇦🇨🇦🏗🪝🪝

Hard to tell from this vid, but most of these cranes were powered by 4 cylinder Hercules engines of about 327 cubic inches.

+Stuart Rose Problem is there is loads of US made military equipment in scrap yards all over the US and nobody is interested, at least this one has been saved and restored to its former glory. If you want it back in the US you can always buy it off me?

I agree with you, there are two sitting in a scrap yard in Iowa for $3.500 each or best offer no bidders. If I still had my semi and lowboy I would go the 400 miles and buy them. Again Thank You for saving this one, and a nice restoration job. I know it is American iron but I am sure it still means something to you from your past history. Phil

We are too busy destroying our history (tearing down statues etc.) The Brits and French people respect what we did more than the Snowflakes we are raising. These restorations are beautiful!
