Stug III Ausf D Restoration by Jon Phillips Part 1

Stug III Ausf D, chassis number 90678 was captured by the British in El Alamein in North Africa and was taken to the UK for tests and study.
This tank was recovered from the Pirbright fire range in UK, and was then part of Kevin Wheatcroft collection.
The new owner Jon Phillips then acquired it and has collected almost 100% of the parts necessary to complete this restoration project. More info at stug3restoration.blogspot.co.uk

This proves that you donʻt need a multimillion dollar facility to "drive" your passion. I love the aesthetics of the German tanks, I am sure the engineering is up to par with the looks. Keep up the great work. I am watching this in 2020!

What do you want restored?
The fact that someone can take a scrap piece of metal like that and make it into something new is amazing, I wouldn't ever see that hulk as a potential project, I'm sure there are better quality tank projects under water somewhere or left in a forest

+Mick Wilson Its amazing how quickly the Stug is coming together. I went down to Kent to see it and Jon a while ago, and at that time the top of the hull was still not back on. At this rate it will definitely be finished by next summer.

Alot of hard work yeah, any recommendations im in the market for anything about 70 tons or less where can i get one thats free i can handle shipping & handling as long as the pickup time is within a year

В СССР делали автомобили ЗИЛ 131 и Урал 375 . На них использовали карбюраторные моторы 150 и 170 лошадиных сил. 8 цилиндров и один карбюратор. На мой взгляд звук мотора очень напоминает Maybach. Вероятно они ещё встречаются совсем не дорого.

It was banned in "the new Germany" but adopted by tankers in other countries. I personally like it, especially the version in the movie, Battle of the Bulge.

Wouldn't be it a whole lot cheaper, to build a full replica from scratch? I mean, the biggest respect to you my man!! But there is hardly anything left of this beauty :-(
