    I disagree. I've heard stories about Mitch putting on his 'nice guy' persona for the cameras. Apparently he was very disrespectful and immature with some of the other Strongman athletes and their girlfriends, and when you hear that some of the athletes don't respect him - in a sport that is known for having some of the most lovely, brotherly sportsmen - it suggests a lot about his character behind the scenes. Pair that with several other things you can see from him - when he's been very disrespectful to his cameraman on a number of occasions which I've disliked - and when he's said winning means very little to him (something he later backtracked on when fans of the sport expressed disapproval) it all adds up. Then he said he LOST his CPAP machine and blamed the Canadian healthcare system, having an absolute rant about how useless they are, before the other day revealing that he actually doesn't have a diagnosis for sleep apnea from a doctor... so WHY would they give free machines to people who haven't bothered getting a medical diagnosis?? He then did a whole video about how crap the healthcare system is and how they're allowing poor quality food chains to exist in the hospitals... like there are particularly healthy fast food chains that want to set up shop and pay rent in a hospital lol... It's very clear that his dislike of the healthcare system is politically motivated, potentially because he wants privatised healthcare? I don't know... Then there's the look he gave to the crowd when beating the world record for the dinnie stones. That look of pure arrogance that said it was super easy etc... rather than one of celebration. Then the other day he said he's basically making Ashley do all the 'motherly jobs' of looking after their baby at night so he can sleep and do his job of recovering. I don't know, I just can't see someone like Luke Stoltman telling Kushi that it's her responsibility to look after their baby, can you? He's an insanely good athlete, I don't deny. I just don't think he's as nice as he portrays himself to be. I feel like his persona is purely about public relations and trying to make money from Lift Heavy Be Kind merchandise rather than actually being a good person.

    I mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone, but I believe that Tom would win more than Mitch if he was coached by Big Loz. So much of Tom's worst events seem to be around technique, and less so absolute strength...That analysis might be incorrect, but having a former world-level strongman as your coach must surely be beneficial, especially such a nice one as Big Loz.

    Lots of Mitch Hooper alt accounts on here lol. Or at least people who think they know the sport better than Loz. Mitch is terrific and a genetic freak but so is Tom. BOTH men are consistently improving. Tom's deadlifts and presses are miles better than they were even just a couple years ago. And he's still improving. He hasn't yet reached his peak. I don't think Mitch has either. THIS is why it's a rivalry. Both men still have a pretty big upside. Personally I like Tom because I am also autistic and lift heavy weights. But you can't help but be in awe of what Mitch has done in such a short time. And to the people who think 'it isn't even close', I think you're talking shit.

Although I agree that recently Mitch has been more consistent, the format of WSM plays better into Tommy's strengths. Ultimately it comes down to Tom's headspace, if he's in the right place mentally he's unstoppable, its just making sure he's in the right headspace that's the tricky part

    Mitch is a fantastic all rounder, insane static strength, a great mover and excrement at stones, he is excellent at deadlifting, pressing and yoke so all his bases are covered. Tom is certainly weaker in relation to static strength, especially the deadlift, however he is completely dominant in stone events, basically unbeatable Either way I’m looking forward to seeing them go head to head and seeing who comes out on top. My money personally (even as a Brit) is on hopper, I think he just a stronger all rounder

  • @BigLozOfficial

    @BigLozOfficial

    It's more about the 'end position' in Strongman. So, whether you jerk, push or strict press, you just need to get the weight from A to B and finish in a locked out position. When comparing a sumo to a conventional deadlift, the end position isn't the same.

  • @stevee8920
    @stevee892013 күн бұрын

    This is such a tough call, the likes of Mat Ragg could get in between them on say the conans wheel and deadlift for reps. I agree the conans wheel is Tom’s weakest event. It’s the one event where being tall and heavy goes against you. I’ve always said that I believe brute strength Tom is stronger. However, Mitch uses his brain better and that could be the difference between the 2. Whoever goes out last on each event has the knowledge of what they need to do to win. The first event is likely to be Mitch’s to lose, Tom is fast and we saw that at the giants live, but after seeing Mitch this year at the Arnold’s, his speed is phenomenal. What it does is give Mitch the advantage to know what he has to do to beat Tom on the next event. That said I think Tom could out lift Mitch on max axle, Toms pressing is better and improving. Keg toss is anyone’s guess, but again I think it will be determined by who comes out after the other, so knowing what they have to do to win. Conans as already stated, Hummer tyre lift for reps could see them head to head. If they are level on points or Tom has a points advantage then Tom needs to stick with Mitch or at least place immediately behind him. Going into the stones Mitch needs a 3 point cushion and to lift that last stone. After the other 5 events this could be Mitch’s Achilles’ heel. I believe it’s the heavy stones with the last being 210k, Mitch might not lift that last stone (he may not have to if Tom falls behind after the Conans but if they are fighting for first and second then it’s Tom’s. Tom will not be beaten on stones (outside of injury or a major mistake). All that said and with the Mitch’s current form, podiuming in every competition (winning most of them) I think he might just win it. My heart says Tom (what he has achieved with Autism and how he’s turned it into his super power is incredible) my head says Mitch (his explosive strength, unwavering determination and incredible power to weight ratio) either way I can’t wait to watch it along with you guys and may the best man win.👍🇬🇧

    @@robinlove6981 We see how in the 2023 Arnold last year which was his worst performance there, he still managed to win the whole competition on his first attempt without winning a single event. But this year in 2024, he won 3 out of 5 events in the timber carry & not only won the event while beating the record holder Mateusz Kieliszkowski but he almost set a new world record in it. Same with the Apollon’s Wheels, he not only won the event but also set a new world record with 5 reps beating the previous record of 4 reps held by the great Zydrunas Savickas. Not even including how he won & also set a new world record in the Dinnie Stone walk. So 2 world records in the same contest he set, that’s unbelievable, he has the potential to be the 3rd man to ever win WSM 3 years in a row back to back along with Bill Kazmaier & Magnus ver Magnusson. And again, I don’t think he’s a very good person, he’s kind of vulgar & has an illegitimate daughter since his now wife got pregnant before they were even married, but let’s not kid ourselves & say that there’s a “rivalry” between him & Stoltman when it’s not even close, he beat Stoltman at the 2023 Arnold by 17 points & by 13.5 points this year at the 2024 Arnold. Not to mention won the 2023 WSM by 4 points.

    @@robinlove6981 But look at how he improved his timber carry from last year 2023 to this year 2024, he went from barely finishing with many drops in 2023 to almost beating the current world record with no drops at all in 2024, he’ll improve on his stones also very soon. I think he’ll be the 3rd man to win WSM 3 years in a row back to back along with Kazmaier & ver Magnusson. He looks to be in contention to be the next to win 5 WSM times if not more & set every world record. And again, this is coming from someone who doesn’t particularly like Mitchell Hooper as a person, he’s a fake nice guy with a vulgar personality plus he’s the father of an illegitimate daughter, not a very good person but that’s just a fact that he’s already one of the best to ever do this in just 2 years of competing & could become the best ever.

    My predictions: Event 1 - Frame into Yolk No one is beating Mitch here. His 2nd place at ASC UK was only because he missed the final dumbbell, but he was the fastest in the yolk by far, and combining two moving events, both of which no one at this year's WSM has come close to Mitch on... it's Mitch's event. Tom is going to have to beat Evan, which is totally possible mostly because of the frame carry, but if Evan can hang on to the frame, I think Evan may beat Tom here... it'll be close for sure. 1. Mitch 2. Maybe Tom Event 2 - Axle Press for Max Tom's overhead, like his deadlift, has been getting pretty darn good. I think he'll take 2nd. I'm thinking Mitch goes for record, but we already know Mitch is probably good for at least 205kg even tired and I don't think Tom is. I think Tom is good for 200kg at most. 1. Mitch 2. Tom Event 3 - Keg Toss This is where I think Mitch is kind of lucky that he doesn't have the likes of Thor or Brian to contend with. Out of everyone going to WSM, Tom is really the only amazing thrower, but Mitch has been working very hard and improving. 1. Tom 2. Mitch Event 4 - Conan's This is where I think Tom begins to drops points. Mitch has the advantage of going out last here so he'll know exactly what he has to do and you know Mitch, when he has a target to hit, he's VERY good at making sure he hits it. 1. Mitch 2. Maybe Tom Event 5 - Deadlift for Reps This is another one where I think Tom may lose some points possibly. Mitch has way more work capacity and is a better deadlifter from the floor than Tom. Mitch definitely takes the win, but depending on the shape Tom is in, he may drop some points. 1. Mitch 2. Maybe Tom Event 6 - Stones Yea, we all know this is Tom's event. Mitch has finished these stones before and the points will be pretty close. So there is the possibility that if Tom can at least finish 2nd in the above two events that he can take the title from Mitch here if Mitch is too slow in the stone. But again... Mitch will know exactly what he needs to do and he's very good at making it happen. 1. Tom 2. Maybe Mitch Most likely winner, Mitch. But if Tom can hold onto 2nd in his two weaker events, he has a chance from stones.

    As long as the stone off exists in the heats and the atlas stones is the final event, Tom will have a slight edge over anyone at WSM. He can half ass the heats and beat second place in the stone off and he can overcome a 2 point deficit against anyone in the final event. Not his fault, obviously, and the stone events in WSM predate his appearances there, but that's how it is. One more reason I wish WSM would change literally anything about their format.
