At IPF World's we saw Olivares and Samkharadze not only lift humongous weights but they also went a bit below parallel on squats. You never see such giant weights and such massive guys going so low.

The guy at 31:35 completely tore all of his frontside ligaments in both knees about a year and a half ago. He has recovered so fast from such a massive injury, most guys even at the world level simply can't come back from that.

Harrie is not just any track cyclist btw, he is a 2x Olympic Champion, 13x World Champion. Literally on the GOAT path, absolute freak of nature in terms of power and impulse.

Simple solution for squat depth in powerlifting would be a referees signal when correct depth is hit. The only problem would be honest head judge enforcing the rules. Another excellent episode. Thanks

Sergio was slightly above 66 Kg in Phuket. I hope he is not strugling to cut the weight for Paris.

Sergio is going to compete in the 61kg class, so there's no way he's even near 70kg so close to competition.

There's an older article online about the Australian track cycling team and the weight training that the sprinters do, which is interesting compared to what Harrie Levreysen is doing here. Firstly, the Australian team does no Olympic moves - so no cleans or snatches. They believe that those lifts are too technical and take too long to learn to get any strength benefits. They do lots of squats, deadlifts etc, but they do some interesting leg presses. They do them one-legged, because cyclists always work one leg at a time. They focus on explosively pushing the weight sled away from them and then catching it on the rebound. And they do video analysis of the cyclists while riding and set up the leg press machine to exactly replicate the hip, knee and ankle joint angles.

24:10 256lb is more like 117kg, rather than 125kg-130kg. Still a very big unit though.

seeing gor and lasha do like 218, 219 would be AMAZING. I'd be more than happy with lasha being down if gor can manage to go up. Plus lalyan, who we've seen nothing of, maybe he isn't blacking out anymore??? Its not live we've ever seen him miss a clean and jerk on strength. Edit: If you want to see inhuman wrists, yurik vardanyan.

I have a question which is not easily answered via google search - maybe someone can help here! Why do almost all olympic lifters tilt their hip back during the squat? I am not specifically talking about pushing the hip back but actually tilting it backwards - which often leads to them having slight buttwinks. Is there a reason for that regarding weightlifting technique? Is it better to catch the weight that way? Shouldn't we be less stable with our hips tilted backwards? At least that is what powerlifting and general heavy lifting teaches right, because you can't engage the core as much? Would be great if anyone could answer!

Oh hell no, just calling it here now, based on the ease of these lifts, l think Lasha might well go for 230/270 and then retire. Now admittedly, that is wishful thinking and if l wrong, then l am wrong. But it would make me so happy to see him break 500 kg before he retires. Ok, l will shut up now and let the experts talk. Lol

I find the 1003lb squat hilarious that he and most people agree he is natural. If he indeed is (which would be beyond mind blowing), then he needs a DNA check to see if he’s 50% Neanderthal lol
