Stray and Animals as Leaders | PostMesmeric
Ойындар
Stray is a cyberpunk story in every sense. Beyond its adorable lead, it's a tale showing mankind's thirst for progress and advancement...and the taxing losses that come with it. Let's take a look at this indie hit and see how Stray's world shows animals as leaders, a story of dismantling anthropocentrism and putting humanity's ego in check.

This is my favorite video essay channel. Thanks for always inspiring
I thought you were talking about a crossover between the game and the band.

Wait so it's not? Closing tab.
While a number of people I've spoken to find the game 'strange' - with the robot interaction and so on [then again I attempted to speedrun the game on stream without showing much of the story], it's no denying that looking deeper into the characters and world and story makes this indie game more nuanced and a simple, yet great sci-fi/cyberpunk tale with themes to ponder on as shown in this great video.

I'd definitely recommend playing the game again and digging into the hidden messages and storylines. Things run deep in Stray.
I moved away from home this week, and I really miss my cats…

Moving away from home can be stressful, especially when you're leaving family behind. Hope you're able to see your cats again soon.
For me this, game is teetering between "I can't have time to play everything" and "awwwwwwwwww lookatthe kittiiiiiiiiie". Regardless of my outsider perspective, it's good to know there is something to consider in this one.

It's not too long a game, so you might be able to clear it out quick! Give it a try if you get a chance!
I don’t think Stray did a great job of making you a cat outside of the awesome animations. The robot pal was used as a crutch to make the cat way too humanistic. Endling did this much better where you are actually doing animal level stuff without somehow having an interpretation bot between human and cat language and a cat figuring out codes to unlock stuff. I missed the beginning part, though I did like the robot npc’s. Every part of Stray where you really feel like a cat was one of the best parts

I'm in a similar boat. I liked Stray, it gave me a minor idea of the perspective of the cat but ultimately I took it as a laid back experience where I would just try to take in the sights and piece together what happened. Being a cat was more or less surface level, not a rigorous examination of nature. For that you are better looking at Rain World. Unlike Stray you well and trully can miss jumps, need to feed yourself and feel vulnerable on a far deeper level than a bunch of low stakes set pieces. You don't really need to 'play along' as you do in Stray.

I do think Stray could've used more "cat", for lack of a better term, but I still like how it parallels the human world with the natural world. That being said, I think it's fair to say that you could've replaced the cat with any other non-human animal and Stray would mostly be the same game. I will admit that there's a missed opportunity there.

I have noticed the comparisons to Rain World have been rampant with Stray. I wouldn't be surprised if that continues throughout the year as well, because Rain World is definitely a fascinating title.

Humans are slightly more than animals and therefore they have more responsability to the well being of others, the planet and other animals. some argue, more than the responsability of 'do no harm' or reverse the harm they have already done.
