Razorfin Hunter is a better Tim than Prodigal Sorcerer, since it only costs UR instead of U2. Also, this deck doesn't feel particularly suited to Kelermorph as a commander, outside of the 5 cards that deal the one, since he doesn't provide a ton of value to the board by himself, and he feels replaceable with any other izzet commander that cares about casting instants and sorceries. This may just be a play-style difference, but if im gonna play my commander, I want to have them bring a ton of value when they drop, even if that puts a bigger target on their back. So, for Kelermorph, I want to have more cards like Arc Lightning, Electrolyze, and Sigil of Sleep, which act as better synergy pieces that are all improved by him, because that way it feels like a deck only he could be the focus of, instead of just a mangled new face for an already established shell.

This is the type of deck build I have been looking for someone to do with Ghyrson, THANK YOUUUU!!! Awesome build man, I'm gonna add some more pingers who can untap with spell casts just to make it more versatile and not so heavily storm, but I love the deck you built and I'm definitely going to use it! Thanks!!!

I agree you should add more pingers , because you seem too low on them … especially when your gonna have 3 players on your back , and tbh I don’t think you need Prodigal Sorcerer in the deck

IMO, Trazyn the Infinite is the real MVP. He literally goes infinite accidentally, which is so on brand.

The nids are said to be the weakest deck, but having played it a little (piloting two decks against eachother alone cuz who has 3 friends who play..) i find it really isn't that hard to ramp up so all ravenous creatures get x=5, and then suddenly all your big creature spells are cantrips! Add in that some non ravenous guys are really handy for utility, and i like it a lot!

Thanks Nice deck! I builded almost a similar deck, but with less cantrips. I used a bit more pingers. But crazy enough, I won many times because of Chandra's spitfire and Shadowspear (many to use for LifeLink Pings, but trample on CS is crazy).

Be careful with the Izzet Talisman though. I'm running this commander and i found that sometimes you can't really afford that 1 damage because it will indeed trigger Ghyrson and you will end up taking 3 each time you want to produce a colored mana. And if you do that to much you can even die by your own commander dmgs..

Well this is nice alternate for what do with this great Lt. after you split up the Precon, which was why I bought Tyranids anyway since I wanted some new 'don't have that tribe yet' things from it for Volo since there's like one obvious and one maybe that was spoiled. I did worry a lot of this would just end up being balast for Animar and my Izzet stuff would fall to the wayside but maybe I could put it into this if I do good at Unifty and get that missing Izzet Shock. Though quick question Thousand Year Storm doesn't work in this why...? I mean that's like the first Storm card I can ever remember getting to work despite not being a technical 'Storm effect' itself and being much less predictable. Also Spreading Insurrection a yes or no in this cause I've wanted to resolve that one for a while but finding a commander that suited it was....challenging.

Thousand-Year Storm doesn't work with Storm effects because Storm only cares about spells cast during a specific turn. Storm does not care about copies. Arcane Bombardment, on the other hand, is ideal for a deck like this and I probably should've included it, lol. Spreading Insurrection would be hilarious in this deck, but only if you're at a table with a lot of creatures.

Cool deck! I'd like to see some games. Particularly to see if it would be able to hang in 4 player games. I wonder what kind of storm count is reasonable for killing the table.

  • @nathanorwick3671

In order to kill the table from full, you would need a storm count of 42, since you need 14 grapeshots to deal 42 damage to one player, three times. The overall count gets reduced by 3 for every trigger of a Kessig Flamebreather or Electrostwtic Field, and by 1 for each time you tap a Gelectrode, Prodigal Sorcerer, or Thermo-alchemist. I would personally tweak the deck to have a few more non-creature ways of dealing damage like Forked Bolt or Electrolyze, which can spread to multiple targets and reduce storm count by a ton, especially if the other players at the table like to wrath the board a lot like with a chatterfang or Atraxa super-friends deck. Or you could just put in a grafted exo-skeleton if you don't want to rely so heavily on storm, since it reduces the storm count to 15 for the table regardless of life totals, and can be reduced in the same way the normal one can with the field triggers

Why use all those tapped dual lands when you could just use basic lands?

  • @commanderbydaenen

I thought about this a while ago. We run cards like Evolving Wilds or Terramorphic Expanse for color fixing, right? Get the land you need so you can cast your spells next turn and all that. But doesn't a two color land that enters tapped accomplish the same thing, only better?

  • @connorjensen9699

@@commanderbydaenen I feel like terramorphic/wilds are more for decks with more colors, and usually a budget option at that. Though they also help that little bit with deck thinning, giving you a shuffle on demand, & landfall triggers. But yeah, tapped land for this deck in particular seems better to me too

@@commanderbydaenen but wouldn’t having only basic lands be better for a two color deck? They don’t come in tapped and it shouldn’t be an issue as long as there are enough.

  • @Valjque

    @Valjque

@@JLKaizen yeah if you manage your lands right you shouldn't really need lands that enter tapped in a 2 color commander. The ones that enter tapped under conditions are perfectly fine tho since you will usually get them untapped. I also like the temple just because it's cheap and give you a tiny scry for it
