I found an old Hy-road in a thrift store about three years ago and paid only $7.00 for it, and had it plugged and re-drilled for me. It has been my go to ball ever since then. It's the only ball I have bowled back to back 300's with, never getting rid of it!

@@williamroberts6803 Not a 300 series, 2- 300 games back to back followed by a disappointing 190 for a 790 series, which is pretty good.

Got a Hy-Road earlier this year and man this ball is wonderful compliment to the Phaze 2. Shot personal best high game and series with this ball last week (289, 720 set). I love how smooth it can roll and very controllable it is. If they are crazy to discontinue this ball, I am stashing at least 1-2 of these.

Finally got a chance to throw this on a fresh house shot and wow! Ball was drilled pin up also and this has amazing power on the back end. You can throw it hard and straighten it out, or you can slow it down and really get good reaction down lane. I was worried pin action wouldn't be the best, but it's amazing!

OG Hy-Road is hands down the best bowling ball of all time. Whatever they've got going on in R2S hybrid is $$$. Gives you so much miss room on medium typical house shot and even burnt up conditions as long as you don't pitch it out to the dry too fast. I still can't believe I've never owned one, but I think it would accompany Summit and Phaze II so well. Essentially the same length, back-end, and smoothness for each of the balls; just different amounts of total hook in boards. If I only could have one ball in my bag, it would definitely be the Hy-Road.

Another great video Luis, I’ve been chasing a hybrid and will seriously consider this option. Have you ever considered making a video on land transition or when to move inside. I personally have found it hard to find any good content on this subject that actually points out what to look for etc / demonstrations on an actual lane of when you should consider a move / ball change. I reckon that may be super helpful. Cheers mate.

The hyroad. I still remember this name. It now means a whole lot more than just a mere bowling ball model to me now. Back in 2008 I started to bowl and represented my college for nationals even though I had a rather bad PSO that couldn't get my fit right. My thumb swells every other week while I had to keep asking for larger holes every other week until I eventually just gave up on bowling. That was right around when Virtual gravity nano, hyroad first hit. I tried to and failed to resurrect it around 2016 remembering that I drilled a marvel with no avail on ball fit. No need to mention after all the years being inactive these balls are either cracked beyond redemption or sold/given away for their own good. 14 years down the road, I decided to give it one last try before I might fully switch to two handed style or never consider the sport for the rest of my life. Walked into a pro shop, met a more professional PSO, and discussed about ball choice. Couldn't believe it that the whole hyroad line is still the bread and butter for many folks even today! I mean, years passed, all the big stars with huge earning records had already retired(some even retired from the surface of the earth, RIP.) yet this bowling ball line still remains in production. Sitting quietly watching the humans like waves hitting the beach. At this point the name is like a page taken out of nostalgic memory, reminding those reckless youth days that I felt warm and cozy.

Just bowled multiple 210+ games last night for my first night of using this ball on house league lanes. Coming of the stronger black widow I believe, I am not sure how to describe it, but the flexibility and performance of the ball just immediately felt comfortable. Really the biggest change I made last night was just the ball speed down the lane and trusting the ball to just hook back hard into the pins. Yes it might be new bowling ball syndrome (if that’s a thing :) ), but it is just so smooth and predictable on house patterns. I now understand first hand why this ball has been around for so long.

How would this ball do on a burned up league condition? Where I bowl it's common for our lanes to be so bad that my strongest ball "Hammer Obsession" and my pearl coverstocks just sails through with no backend reaction and I struggle with this, Is this a ball that would get through these conditions. I'm a bit of a novice and bowl in a casual league. I have a Proton Physix, a Phaze 4 and a Match Up Red/Blue sanded to 1,000. What ball would work best on the fresh house shot and should I switch balls as we bowl the 3 games? I normally get the most strikes with the Match Up and that's what I used for my best game at 256 but I haven't had the Phaze 4 long. When I use the Proton Physx, I leave the 10 pin constantly.

Columbia MEssenger Ti may be longer on the market, it started out in 1999. Also, curiously the Hy-Road core looks a lot like they took the idea from the Messenger core, which was the first core to have a piece of metal inside. And "Fe2" is the chemical sign for iron....I think Storm just copied and modified the very successful Messenger Ti core, and combined it with their own cover.

Within the last year, I've gotten back into billing since youth leagues 20+ years ago. I always bowled straight with I think a plastic ball. Columbia 300. After starting back, I got my first reactive ball, a Storm Tropical Surge. My highest score with it has been 191, which is my PR. I recently upgraded to a Hy-road, but haven't touched that 191 yet. I'd like to at least break 200. It us used though and kind of dull looking, compared to other Hy-roads I've seen. Should I have it restored to factory condition? Me having owned multiple OGs and including the whole trio between Hy-Road Solid, Hy-Road, and Hy-Road Pearl (also BIG honorable mention to the OG, T-Road Solid) watching you throw it: BECAUSE IT DOES THAT!!! I also did have my Hy-Road 70 X 5 X 65 (pin under ring with thumb hole) according to the old rules and my Pearl at 60 X5.75 X 35 (basic pin above the bridge) earlier but with it being a 2015-2016, it was kinda jumpy but still very usable. The 08-11 is worth LOTS of money because they're smoother. Is it worth it? Probably. LOL.

I threw a Hy RoadX for about 5 years, I would keep it at 1500 with a light polish and it killed on dryer conditions and if there was too much oil, I just scuffed it with some 1500 or 1000 to take the polish off and it responded like a different ball, it's like carrying 3 balls because it responds to surface so well.

I just bought this ball last week. I didn't have a chance to throw it on a fresh house shot, but I did start off on pretty dry lane conditions and I could not get this ball to go where I wanted it to. As soon as this hit the lane it wanted to hook immediately, which is strange because that's not what this ball is known for. Even throwing it 17-18mph I couldn't get it to carry down the lane and into the pocket. I shot 3 of the worst games in many many years. I average 190-200 and was quite disappointed with my 130 average with this ball.

I'm staying with (mostly) solid asyms unless a reliable particle ball comes out. Kinda sucks that particle stuff isn't being made as much any more, I threw my first 700 way back in 2005 with an Ebonite XXXCel taken all the way down to 500.
