I wanted to upload a pic from my iPhone when I was in Iraq in 2004. I met a Army recruiter in 2005 when I was 42 years old and she told me I can join up to age 42 and have 2 felonies back in 2005. My opinion was screw that if I am in Iraq I am going for the cash as a contractor. I went to boot camp in 1980 at 17 years old. I was much more badass at 41 than I was at 17. When I was 23 to 26 I was competing in boxing and kickboxing. When I was 29 to 35 I was competing in Judo. When I was 40 I trained in CSW and BJJ. Then at 41 the lifeguard job in Iraq came up.

I wish I went active instead of ANG, but hey after I do 6 months with the unit I can go active. It may be tough for me, but if I could I'd try to go to apply for airborne and RASP. Can someone help me check my dad’s marine record? He claimed he was a marine in the 1st marine div. provisional recon in Korea. He said he had 3 Purple Hearts and a Navy Crossb as well as being a survivor of Chosin reservoir. I have uncovered lies he told that I am upset about. I could not serve though I wanted to, my eyesight kept me out. I did what I could to serve and became police officer and eventually a chief of police for 20 plus years and then went to law school. I am currently a public defender in New Mexico. I am considering changing my name to leave this shame behind. Can someone help please. My email is fmvhlaw@gmail.com.

Thanks 4 bringing this out, this has been such a problem. All I did was drive a truck and got hurt and I didn't even get a purple heart, didn't need one. But these fools can now go on line and get one, sickening. There is a dude Jared Evens who goes around claiming to be an airforce vet, claimed he was in a Hummer as Airforce security forces. He even has a veterans stamp on his DL. So people believe him. But I saw his 214 and he washed out for fraudulent enlistment. Makes me sick that this dude claims veteran status and gets the beniffit from it when he's not. Stolen Valor!

He said it would take him over a year to get a copy of it DD-214??? Seriously lol archives.gov sends a copy out in a few days (two weeks max) if you know your info.... not to mention they drill it in our head to get it notarized and file with the county right when you get out, so there is ALWAYS a copy on file when needed.... and not sure if I am alone on this, let me know, but I certainly did not get a DD 214 when I graduated basic??? BUT the reason I am pissed is he is claiming PTSD????? Did I understand that right? Is he serious? Does he not know the severity of what PTSD is doing to so many of us. I fight almost DAILY to deal with flare-ups, along with the over 250,000 other Veterans (who have served since 9/11 alone) and sadly the over 10,000 who have already taken their lives. He is literally making a mockery of a nightmare that so many of us would do anything to get rid of! I was a medic and a piece of me if dead forever.... and the VA just slapped a service connection number and sent me on my way, just like they do for everyone majority of Vets. I understand mine is very severe and that is my curse, but regardless of how bad it is... NO decent human being should be making light of the subject. SO coming from a Veteran who has nothing to do with videos games or who knows of this dude. I WILL TELL HIM, F*CK YOU! I don't know the men who made this video but hell yes do I understand their frustration because there is ONE thing that EVERY SINGLE VETERAN has in common, we know that there are certain things that should always be respected. Stealing Valor is easy as hell to spot because there is nothing about war that is worth bragging about. The idea you told anyone you shot a child goes to show that you are not a Veteran at all... You don't keep dibs on how many kills you get during engagement and you certainly don't brag about it.... EVER! I am typing this novel because I know your fake ass is following this video, clearly you have NOTHING better to do with your life. I have folded that flag more times then I care to admit and you sir are a piece of $hit and I am guessing that if you put the damn controller down I as a female veteran would tare you to shreds before you could spout out any more BS. My husband of 11 years died over there and you sit there with your wife and think it is funny to mock the life of real Veterans.... you couldn't have handled a deployment, hell you couldn't have handled basic. The guys on this video were right to call you out. Next time you consider glorifying yourself and what you did on your made up deployments, know that NO ONE who has really been deployed would ever brag about what is going on over there. You need to stop your BS before you piss off the WRONG Veteran. I am sure there would be a LONG line of us who would LOVE set you straight. Have some respect, you pos! You're pathetic!

My EX started going around telling people he was a drill sergeant for the Marines. The truth is that he did sign up to join, they took him to Cleveland overnight to ship out in the morning. He got upset that there were MP's at the hotel guarding the floor and they refused to let him leave his room to get a soda. Then he found out that they had just banned smoking cigarettes in basic, so the next morning he chickened out and refused to take the final oath. They put him out on the street in Cleveland and told him to find his own way home. We lived about 3 hours from Cleveland. It makes me sick that he is such a pathological liar who needs to fabricate his past because in reality he is an utter and complete failure. He even went so far as to have fake high school trophies made to try and impress girls. I remember one of them was for being an MVP quarterback for the football team. I found out he played the clarinet in the marching band. He took me to his grandparents house for a cook out or something and she had pictures up on the wall of him in his band uniform. I have always wished that he would run across a REAL Marine to take him to school. He's now 50 years old and he STILL lies about his history and just about everything else. Truly sad and disgusting. This guy in the video has NO idea what a DD214 is LOL.

I never served for my country but all of my family did. I respect your courage and honor. Even though I never served I find it disgusting someone would pose as a veteran, because my family went through huge trials and tribulations after their service that they took with them to their graves. I always wanted to serve but I am a bit on the heavy side and they wouldn't let me join until I was recommended weight. Just stumbled on this, I'm glad you called him out, you can usually tell those who are fake. If he was for real, he would have simply said he would get his paper work and come back later. That said, I lost my 214 , when I ets'd out of Ft Dix ('72), they gave me a plastic coated sealed dd-214 and in my paperwork I had one also. Over the years I lost both. For some reason I needed mine a couple of years ago, so I got on the VA website and there is a place where you can request a copy, it costs (if I can recall, $5)

"Milsim" means Military Simulator (think ArmA 2, or any of the ArmA series). "Teamspeak" is a method of letting people communicate through microphones hooked up over the internet (basically, it is like a giant conference call, where everybody can hear each other).

You got to keep your tags at ETS ? I had to hand it all over, just one among many things. I regretted not lieing so I could keep them! A few years later I ordered a set for medic-alert purposes from a private company. Been wearing them ever since. I don't carry paperwork (214) around but I do carry my retired Army ID card and VA card. My 214 would be tatters if I carried it around, having gotten out in 1983! You need to show a DD-214 when you first go to the VA to establish your eligibility- but from what I understand, somehow some people manage to fake it and get past that block with phony documents. I had always thought that they checked the 214s against an official DOD list- may be some identity theft going on there. One of the guys on this says ANYONE can get a VA card, which isn't exactly accurate- you need to have done 90 consecutive days of active service to qualify for treatment at a VA- unless you got a permanent disability during training. Anyway, I agree, no real Vet is offended if confronted, you show your shit and move on. We all know there is a large number of frauds out there so showing one's bona fides isn't a problem between Vets, only the fakes get upset. I've run into more than one of them. And you are absolutely correct- it IS morally wrong and disrespectful to the fallen.

It's extremely unfortunate that these kinds of people are free to roam around and make false claims. The internet makes it even worse simply because hiding behind a computer screen makes it even more of a challenge to crack down on it. Running a military simulation unit in a video game also seems to attract these people. I would honestly say that we have to deal with this a few times a month. Some get the idea that it's wrong right in the beginning, some have such believable stories (probably because they have been lying for years), however, it is always going to come back and bite them eventually. Their stories begin to change slowly over time, they get lost in their own lies, and dates usually never match up or change every time the story is told. The worst part about it all is that there is really no way to take action against these guys. It is protected under freedom of speech. All we can do as a unit is ban them from our servers and websites, and hope that they don't go lie somewhere else... People need to learn to respect veterans rather than play dress up and lie. Also, I never got any picture besides the squirrel with the AT4.. and his wife was nowhere to be found. This guy also runs a live stream and his false teeth fell out while he was live. Just added WTF status.

At the time, my dad worked out of the CNO’s office, and still I remember my dad having to write and to call and to pull strings to get those forms. At one point, dad said he might have to fly down to where they kept all DOD personnel records and get a power of attorney form. No one loses that form bc everyone in the military knows how fricking hard it is to get a copy.

Here's some great advice; If someone is wearing a Uniform that they bought, whether they are a, "fraud," or not, you have absolutely NO legal right to tell them to take it off or touch them or threaten them with bodily harm. They can press charges on you for assault, (or stalking, if you try following them,) and you'll most likely find yourself in the, "can." "Stolen Valor," only applies if they attempt to use their, "fake image," to receive services. Anything above that, you'll find yourself in hot water. (Make sure you actually know the Stolen Valor Act before you make the situation worse for yourself, especially.) And, DON'T lose your Military bearing on these guys. Call them out publicly if you want, but always keep your cool. You're the one actually representing the United States Military in the situation, so act like it. Show some restraint like the Soldier or Vet that you are. Don't act like the Police because you're NOT. Observe and report. And keep yourself out of jail. -MSG Forquet USA E-8 (ret.) 23 years active duty. 🇺🇲

He said the same thing - 'I don't care if you don't believe me' . The thing is, I think he must have been saying all these lies for such a long time that he actually believed his own bullshit. He was/is a very sad man indeed. What I can never work out about imposters is why the hell didn't they just sign up and experience military life for real. They would never forget it, good or bad, and their lives would never be the same again. Take all imposters and send them to the latest war zone. I was stationed at Fort Hood in 1980-1981. We were 3rd Corps, consisting of the First Cav, the 2nd Armor Division, the 6th Aircav Brigade, and supporting units, making us equivalent to three divisions. The 4th ID has NEVER had units stationed at Fort Hood.

Alright, I get this is 8 years in the future, but I would never EVER show someone my DD-214 except a potential employer who REQUIRED it. The guy saying he has so many copies of his DD-214 came off as a little suspect, as did the guy who said employers need your 214 to verify honorable discharge. This is not true and hasn't been for MANY decades. If you get a Big Chicken Dinner or OTH, you WILL fail a background check because OSI will enter you in NCIC. It's the same as being a felon. While the guy is obviously lying about his service, nobody should have believed him in the first place. It was a little rough when the young guy said a VA card would be enough and then changed his mind when the faker showed one. Stolen valor doesn't hurt anyone (and isn't a crime) unless they get financial or material gain from it. I don't care about stolen valor as a vet, and seeing these young fellas getting so worked up about is kinda concerning.

Not sure I can agree with "lying to everyone doesn't hurt anyone." Especially in the context of lying to a group of what are supposedly actual vets in an attempt to impress them or whatever. Plus I don't see the point of adding that it's not a crime, as if that makes it okay socially.

@@PistenDeer People lie to impress other people all the time. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. A "damn that sucks dude, don't play with us anymore" would have done in this case. It's not socially acceptable but it doesn't hurt anyone.

Jonathan Suarez I guess I should also add, for legal purposes, you're technically not supposed to wear ranks, insignias, ribbons, etc. If it's just some kids playing and I saw it i wouldn't mind, hell, it gives them a goal if anything, but I'm just letting you know what you're technically allowed and not allowed

A DD-214 is an important document that most rational thinking Veterans preserve and are able to present. With a legit DD-214 to verify service, Veterans in Tennessee can have a "Veteran" label applied to your personal driver's license.

What's up y'all? I'm going to say, nice job. I'm and Army vet, joined in 79 and was discharged 82. I will say that I have 1 copy of my DD 214 but I've when and had it register at city hall for save keeping. I didn't service in war time, but I'm still proud of my service. Most vets I had met don't like talking about what they did in war. Believe me, I've talked to a lot of them, mainly in my passion and activities I have been doing for the past 9 years. For the ones that was in combat you have my thanks and respect. But I think that you should have let homeboy off with a, you are lying and we know it, have a good live. I'm not condoning Stolen Valor. To me it's a cry for help. But to send so much time on given him what he wants don't make sense. People who do this is crying for attention, whether it's good or bad and y'all gave it to him, how he going to find the next vets to feed his addiction and that's all it is. If you had cut him off short he might have learned that it don't work no more and when on with his love. But nooo, he got what he wanted from y'all and now he's going to find the next ones to feed his ego, and y'all gave him the confidence that he can do it again, over and over. The best way to stop claims like that, is to shoot them down, Cold turkey. People like that get off on making others react the way they want them to, and y'all did just that. It was great that you read though his B.S., but y'all danced to his song the way he wanted you to from the start. You can do anything on the internet. From make false ID's to records. If you don't give them what they are craven, then you win. If you give into their whim, than they win. It's that simple, when you call them out, they alright have the accuse ready at hand. No matter how much you ask questions. They will have an answer for it. I can't find this or I tried to get it, but it's going to take.along time for them to get it. Longer then it will take anyone else, because I'm special. Not like the common folks like you. I have to ask, didn't y'all gear that in the way he was talking? I could tell in about the first 5 minutes with all of the causing and y'all trying to intimidate him. I hate to be the one to tell you, but you got played like a Xbox. It's good that you was able to catch him and the way you did was expected. The question was straight to the point. I listened until the end, which made it entertaining, but in the long run, he got over on you. You feel good about providing that he is a lair and fraud. That you can feel proud of you for a while. But did you think that he has been using this story long before you met him, and he is going to use it on the next victim. So on, and so on until it's not longer useful. I'm not knocking you for showing the world what he's doing. I'm just saying that when you had him with his pants around his ankles like a jon get a good Blow job from a callgirl in a back street , just before he's about to gym. She stop, stands up and walks away, with he wallet in her hand , with all his cash and car keys. That would have really made him look like the douchebag that he is. You know, I wouldn't be surprised that when all was said and done. He was laughing his ass off. Having a great time making y'all do what he know would do, because most likely, y'all was not the first, nor you will not be the last. Oh well, I just had to say something about this. I see it at every event I go to and I heard most of the ones that said that they won the war all by himself, and when it comes to being a warrior. He will make Rambo look like a altar boy. Y'all did good showing him for what he is. It's just that he got to best out of the deal. Because he wasn't upset when you finally let him go. That line at the end, I have to take care of some family business. It aS because, y'all wasn't fun for him No more and at was time to go fishing for a new fish to play with. I sorry if I hurt your pride and all. But I has the be that voice of experience and dealing with the public for a few decades. That just wanted you to see what had happened and learn what to look for in the future. Don't take a car for the way it sounds or look. Always questions it first then test it out before letting in your world. That going for everyone and everything. Don't take it at face value. Because everything that looks good, don't means it's good for you. I've wished someone would have told me that, 3 marriages, 4 children, 3 babies mom as with the drama, and countless of mistakes. I've might have made them swallow instead. I wish y'all the best and keep it moving forward, don't look back, you can't change it anyway.

I just don't know why that dragged on for so long. You either have a DD-214 or you don't. I'm not in the military, never been in the military, but I know you're supposed to have that if you've been in the military. He obviously didn't so my stance "don't talk to me until you do." End of story, I got somewhere to be.
