Bulldozer is right, I nicknamed a friends late malamute D9, from the stories they told of him of just pushing the fence boards off to take himself for a walk and just going in straight line where ever he wanted go, not around or over but through. Just made his own path, and kids loved him and he loved everyone.

My thoughts exactly. And some fluffy bulldozers are just mouthy. I could tell that he wasn’t really biting. Just mouthing for fun and love. Sadly it’s a trait that can get an inexperienced owner in trouble if it happens when little children are around.

@Orcus79 Orca They should use them as police dogs. "Oh no, the villain has run into those gardens. Whatever will we do...Steve, get The Destroyer." Out comes a malamute who smashes through fences like he's The Juggernaut, and could happily run for days. The criminal wouldn't have a hope of escape. And once he finds the criminal, will constantly mouth without biting, so won't do any harm except to a few fence panels.

( instead of dragging my 5'2 mom around). Those owners did a fantastic job training this dog. Malamute's are known for being very stubborn and very dominant, making them especially difficult to handle if you don't know what you're doing. Kudos to those owners, whether they hired a trainer, or trained him themselves, they still did beautifully.

Theres berm some interesting genetic research that shows that alaskan malamutes are descendants of North American wolves. Which sounds like a "duh" moment but that's actually incredibly incredibly rare now. An overwhelming majority of modern dogs in America are descended from European wolves and brought over by European colonists. It'd definitely be interesting to see how recent wolf is in their breed. And if they act differently from other dogs too having a different ancestor..

@@youtubischill1303 If you (or anyone else) seriously consider getting a malamute, for the sake of your own sanity read everything about the breed first, and I mean everything, and be sure you know exactly what you are getting yourself into. People always advise that only experienced owners should get Malamutes but how do you get experience without owning one ? I used to have a lot of GSD's and they were very easy to train, however Malamutes need both physical and mental stimulation every single day or they will get bored and start destroying your garden/house or start to be deliberately naughty just to get an interaction with you (like a quick dig in your side then they run away, come back then nip you in the side in hope that you get up and chase them). Definitely not for people who lack motivation in any way shape or form. With all of that being said the payoff is worth all of the blood, sweat and tears you will shed whilst trying to get them to do stuff, they are extremely intelligent dogs who only do things if they want to. BUT they do pick up training very easily and then get bored with it - so keep training mixed up as much as you can, also do not set routines as when a certain time for something comes near they will harrass you until you have done what it is they are expecting! There is so much more I could write about them but you would honestly be better off reading up on them from vets/specialist pages to get a fuller picture.
