@@onepangaean3018it *was* peek in hoi4 too before BBA navel “balancing” where the meta was roach destroyers (single gun nothing else except an engine which is required) and max light attack heavy cruisers (heavy cruisers with one heavy gun and maxed out light guns at least for fleet battles.) the theory was that the heavy cruisers would have too much evasion so battleships wouldn’t hit them and the roach destroyers would stop torpedos from hitting the heavy cruisers and then you just use what every carriers you have at the start of the game or are building at the start of the game and then fill them with navel bombers.

@The real GabeN don't play hoi4 so can't comment on it. It's a good thing you have to use your brain slightly in Stellaris designs now, previously it was just Neutron spam.

@@therealspeedwagon1451 Technocracy civic and a voidcraft expertise scientist might help you rush towards the ship types and starbases. Egalitarian ethic, meritocracy civic, and the prosperity tradition give specialist output bonuses that affect both alloys and research. A planet with the Forge World designation will help save on the mineral -> alloy conversion rate. Find ways to increase stability for more resources from jobs.

0:30 All the strikecraft are deployed immediately. The 0.50 days is the regen time for the destroyed strikecraft (so you regain 2/day) and 2.30 days is the cooldown for their weapons (8 strikecraft * 6 average dmg / 2.30 cooldown = 20.86 dps you see at the end.
I always get unreasonably excited when I recognize the music in your videos. Into the Breach has an amazing soundtrack. Good pick.
Now I can use Soviet tactics in another Paradox game, splendid

something I forgot to add but even with stupidly high value mods the speed carrier is still viable lmao even more so with a fast firing long range weapon and high evasion for extra trollage
Thank you for pointing to a ratio of 20% for PD destroyers compared to the rest of the fleet.
The ai will actively counter me, I had a game when the entire galaxy was in a federation, so there was a fleet of around 100k by year 50, and I was trying to stabilizer my eco after a war with the ai inviting empire all around me. I saw how they had a lot of point defense and torpedo, so i did shield hardners, they switched to auto cannon, I was losing production time so i sent out smaller ships, they got carriers, I got frigets back in, they got a fuck ton of point defense and torpedo. The ratio of ships was like 4 to 1, so I could not do much damage before the wave of 240 frigets slammed into me. It was the first time i have had to surrender to ai since they no longer are monkey brain spam out disrupters or focus on attacking all 3 levels of defense.

Recently played a bit myself, not played in quite a while and yeah I played like I used to do against the AI and just kinda chilled in my systems and improved my economy and tech thinking everything was going fine except the AI actually had decent ship designs and loads of them. First war was a surprise but I managed to win it, then another AI took advantage and just steamrolled me before I could recover from the first war. Not used to actually having to put a little effort in against the AI, seems like its improved a lot. Though it did not help that I was playing a Devouring Swarm wanting to try out the re-introduced combat regeneration and it turns out the game lies HARD about how effective it is, saying stuff like +5% daily hull regen when it appears its actually like +0.05% when in combat.. I was expecting so much from that! :'(

@@TheHuffur yeah, personally my first game was very sad because a fanatic purifier happen to be next to me and went down the crisis path, and i did not realize till it declared war on me and i saw the 2 Star eatters rushing to my capital. I do like the hull regen though, it makes campaigning throught a war much more sustainable. And frigets spam is a lot more effective since once they finish an engagement they wont need to go straight to a port and repair. Hangers and missle rush seems to be fairly effect against them and i use destroyers on every main fleet for pickets

@@aidenpitts8549 yeah missiles and fighters seem to be fairly strong atm but I think some people are really exaggerating how good missiles are, they only have 25% tracking(swarmers have 30%) so it does not actually take a lot for corvettes to dodge like 40-60% of the shots, afterburner and tier 2 thrusters and I think they push something like 70+% evasion. At that point a single tier 1 laser/ballistic slot is doing like 2x more damage on average because it actually has a decent chance of hitting.
Meanwhile me who never uses more than one design for one ship clas: "woah, this is worthless"
So, you're telling me that now micro in Stellaris kinda means something? Holy shit
So basically you build a landing pad a strap some engines on it

that carrier computer part is so ridiculous
In og Master of Orion missiles costs BC (energy) per volley. And the volleys are limited per engagement. This also happens in Starfleet Command. I wonder how hard would be to add this mechanic to Stellaris.

to absorb the first strike and in the rare case where the enemy can get close to prevent Torpedoes from landing in the first place it's just "Insurance" to not get rekt, since there is always human error in positioning for example: kiting is less effective if your ships are at the edge of the system
This actually seems like a fun meta that doesn't seem stale.

Torpedos can’t kill you if the cruisers die before they reach you.

your screens will constantly follow the enemy fleet, so having some PD on you is only useful if they Missiles/Swarmers the only situation where this strat gets countered is if they have Neutrons, in that case PD on the carrier is pointless as they can't be intercepted the best way to counter Neutrons in this case is to just make another fleet tank the first volley to force out the 20 day cooldown and let your strike crafts deploy in the meantime
I don't get how you can kitte while in battle. The move button just isn't there once the fight starts...

the combat AI got an update recently, and now automatically kites to the best of it's abilities as long as the ships aren't on the edge of the system and have high speed, they can do well by dispersing in all directions while still being in range if they have medium to short range weapons this is effectively a death sentence

I was able to kite AI fleets forever in Stellaris 2.6. Just running around the whole system. Stellaris was broken long long ago
What about neutron launchers? They still hitscan and have a lot of range

yes, they do counter this strategy...as long as it doesn't land on the screens 20 day reload is enough to get shredded by strike crafts

@@felalot8801 true, but the main power of the neutron is that it's range covers the entire battle, which means it will prioritize bigger ships in general, aka the naked carriers which is why it's better than Torps against the naked ships as it will only get distracted once but yes, if enemy has enough Neutron frigates you're dead, then again if enemy has that much already they probably have more alloys in the battle, as a fully kitted frigate ain't cheap

I don't think it's the game that's broken. It's you. How did you even come up with that? How? And also, how do you expect me to pull this off? Do I need a MOBA mouse with 24 programmable buttons to play Stellaris now? All I ever wanted from this combat rework was to build 10 of each ship type with literally every conceivable weapon type and pretend I'm covered on all fronts for all time, and you ruined it! Why did you do this to me? 😭😭😭

Idc and just build corvets. For some reason their fleet power was significantly increased in the latest patches. 100 corvets = 150k-190k fleet power is kinda scary considering how fast and cheap you can build them.

What are you talking about. Building a big ship with lots of aircraft on it is just efficient design. Aircraft carriers are a thing irl and now specialized spaceship designs are feasible in stellaris. It just works.
