Stedman Triples at Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear
Ойын-сауық
An extract from an unsuccessful peal of Stedman Triples, lost just after the half-hour mark when a mis-heard call caused terminal grief at the back.
These are a fine sounding eight, as one would expect of a Taylor ring of 1912 vintage. These replaced a previous six, with a tenor of 18-0-14 in G, also cast by Taylors (in 1865, to their Grimthorpe profiles, hence the very high note for the tenor weight).
Whilst the bells handle well enough, the clock case takes up much of the ringing room; condequently, the ropes for 3,4,7 and 8 are guided through chutes, giving them a very low draught (tall people should watch their hands are not sucked through the rope bosses at backstroke!). This also affects the sound somewhat, although the camera has made this discordance sound far worse than it actually is. Unfortunately, there was a dearth of suitable shelves or ledges to dangle the camera over, so the view is not as well rounded as I'd have liked. Nonetheless, enjoy listening to a very fine sounding ring of bells - well worthy of a Ho Ho Ho!
Tenor 17-0-23 in E
