Raising The Tenor @ Waltham Abbey, Essex, 37-1-7 in C.
The fab tenor at Waltham Abbey being rung up, and flipping the clapper with the famous Waltham Abbey broom.
Before it is pointed out a million times by the classics - I am aware it is up wrong - that’s why I had to flip the clapper!

So it went up wrong? I wondered about the clapper bouncing and then I saw the broom flipper! I've never seen a view of a bell going up wrong before but it makes sense now

Well when the bells are heavy and the ringers do the force the clapper would hit the bottom as it didn't got the same force to hit up like the bell rining up

@@lucasowen5040 hohoho taylors also a flat 6th cast by whitechapel; bells 6 and 7 are newer bells cast in 2019 3 years ago
Interesting chalk writing on the inside - I'm guessing its saying "Muffle this side" even though its on both sides... Lovely tenor too

though on one side, that writing is crossed out... it also seems to be on the other sides the clapper doesn't strike (maybe half turned?)

@@adamm2693 Mm indeed. I think the tenor has been turned 90° at some point so the clapper wear spots on the bell don't become a problem.

The bell has not been turned. Someone wrote it on all four sides years ago to confuse a previous tower captain they didn’t get along with. He had written it on one side as he didn’t know which side to muffle.

I been up there and see this bell standing. I never rung it up. Just don't break a stay there especially the back bells as they are hasting stays.
That's pretty light for C, usually they're closer to 41cwt. Nice clapper flipping device lol

yeah, St. Peter's in Adelaide is 41-1-0 in C, same as the tenor in the nine tailors
