In this episode we finish shaping the rear fender plugs and make the first 2 parts of the widebody molds.

    Hey from the other side of the world! The supplier that I use for fiberglass has just started providing a slower MEKP catalyst for this gelcoat because this issue was happening to everybody apparently. Things should be better now.

    For me it's just pure stress right up until I pop the mould off and make sure none of the gelcoat wrinkled or pre-released lol, but when it happens it's like Christmas.

    I spent a few years in a paint shed so I skip all the sanding and lol at the pinhole filling. Gives me flashbacks. But thank you for taking us all on your journey. Admittedly there aren’t many videos of people doing what you do; there are few good quality ones too. I honestly think you’re #1 on KZread with making fibreglass body panels.     Cheers mate! The tooling resin and 4 layers of 450 along with the extra material on the flanges are all these moulds need. I've added bracing in the past but it's only really necessary for large flat shapes like bonnets or sideskirts.

    The grit depends on your paint. 2k paints you'll probably be alright with 400 grit on a DA which usually means a blocking pass with 240 grit beforehand. Keep in mind though hand sanding and machine sanding produce different finishes. 400 grit by hand will leave deeper gouges than 400 grit on a DA sander, so if you have to hand sand go up to 600.

    In NZ all of our products are just rebranded and overpriced Chinese stuff. Any generic polyester resin will work and if you want tooling resin, I think Easy Composites make one of the best.

    Не обклеивай в жёсткую перед грунтом, наточишь ям, бруском точи вдоль а не поперек, грунт полировать не надо, с водой замывать не надо, это не по технологии

    L'ajout de time lapse a grandement réduit ces tems que vous trouvez "interminables" mais qui sont représentatifs de ce que sont les phases de ponçage... Pour quelqu'un qui apprend, ça reste intéressant que ce ne soit pas survolé.... Perso, je regarde ses photos d'un œil tout en faisant autre chose, toutes les vidéos n'appelant pas à la même attention, ça permet d'ailleurs d'avancer sur sa propre construction tout en apprenant quelque chose. ;)
