    You must think giving food to people will solve poverty. The main reason for poverty is the government that’s in charge, as most prefer their people to be impoverished so they don’t have free time to overthrow them. Just look at Starlink being rejected by most improvised countries, as governments don’t want their people to have knowledge.

    Stage separation (through hot staging) is a huge step in the right direction. Hopefully Starship's next flight will fully succeed

  • @myname_not_rick

    @myname_not_rick

    5 ай бұрын

    The big thing is realizing how they as a company treat development. They don't approach it like NASA or other companies, where the goal is a perfect flight from the first attempt. They use an iterative development method: simulate as much as you can in a reasonable timeframe, and then try it out. See how it performs, collect data, and learn from it. That influences the next test flight, and so on until it achieved all of it's goals. This methodology worked very well for them on booster reuse. Now, with Starship, it's the same concept on a massive scale. The important part is that they are able to keep the build pace up, and costs down. This let's this style of development work. And, so far, it is working. The next booster & ship are nearly ready hardware wise. They can implement any changes needed software wise from this flight, along with any swappable hardware components, and then push it through a ground test campaign and fly. I would not be surprised to see the next flight achieve a fully successful first stage profile, and the second stage make cruise. I expect reentry to give them problems, and maybe take a few tries to work out. But I don't doubt they'll succeed. History has shown betting against them is a bad bet.

  • @PassportGaming
    @PassportGaming5 ай бұрын

    Why do they hot stage? Won't it damage the booster, making it harder to refurbish?

  • @lanzer22

    @lanzer22

    5 ай бұрын

    They have a heat shield where the exhaust grills are. The idea is that hot staging saves fuel and allow the rocket to carry 10% more cargo. That's a huge benefit in terms with very little risk. The issue with the booster is likely due to plumbing in handling the large flow of 33 engines while acceleration is changing. Though that's just people's guesses until we hear from SpaceX for the official reason.
