Starkiller's Canon Return Is Inevitable (And Here’s Why)

Galen Marek aka Starkiller aka Vader’s secret apprentice is a character that needs to be reinstated into Star Wars canon. I look into why Ahsoka and Starkiller are two sides of the same coin; the apprentices of Anakin and Vader, the secret Skywalker children, and why they must meet in the new post episode 6 canon. It's not too late for Starkiller to make his mark in the Disney era...
I break down a story that explains why Anakin's ghost did not appear in episodes 7, 8 or 9, how Ahsoka and Luke Skywalker met, and what has become of Galen Marek...

Anakin is arguably Star Wars’ main character. After they realised how popular he is after the sequels they really want to cash in on having Hayden again in Ahsoka and Kenobi but the sequel trilogy is where they NEEDED to do it. Now it’s still great to see him but it’s still just eh now…

@@roguetheoutlander8800Vader only has ten minutes of screentime in A New Hope. In the prequels they expanded his backstory massively and invented a Chosen One prophecy and then Clone Wars expanded the prophecy to make it the whole point of Star Wars. Then Rebels retconned it and made Luke the Chosen One. And Lucas retconned that and made Leia his idea for the Chosen One but Carrie Fisher died. Either way, Anakin isn't more important to the trilogies than the main characters of the other trilogies. He's the antihero of the PT, the main hero of the Clone Wars, an emotional McGuffin that Luke chases after in the OT, and his story is done.

Sam Witwer actually gave his opinion on how to fit Starkiller in current canon. It was him actually answering a question about Galen as an Inquisitor. As it is, Witwer has a very good grasp of his character's story, saying stuff about how Galen's training was a secret, and would be far better than other Inquisitors, who only got the basics. The whole question that went around before Marrok turned into green smoke at least was interesting to get Witwer weighing in on the Starkiller background.

@@Max-qt5lb Thats so true. I just wish they wouldn't lean in so heavily teasing those characters. I think the only time Disney hasn't done this (correct me if I'm wrong), is in No Way Home where they tried so desperately to hide Tobey and Andrew's Spider-Man. Saying this is also contradictory because Disney HEAVILY leaned into showing off the villains of each of their respective movies. It was inevitable for Tobey and Andrew to appear in the movie after that.

Honestly think the best place to introduce Starkiller would be during season 2 of Kenobi. When we last leave Vader, he was told in no uncertain terms to stop going after Obi-Wan and he agreed to it. But what if he sends his secret apprentice to hunt down Kenobi in his place? Imagine him following in Reva’s tracks, fighting through thugs to find Nari, tracking down The Circle, tracking down Reva to beat the information out of her, and finally reaching Tatooine to find a revitalized Obi-Wan Kenobi who has learned his lessons from Quigon and talks with Galen while they fight. Which ends up with him not turning to the light but accepting Obi-Wan’s words as he sets off to find his own path. This would lead in to Ahsoka and would lead Galen Marek to become the new Son, thus completing the Trinity of Anakin (The Father, Balance), Ahsoka (The Daughter, Light), and Galen Marek (The Son, Dark).

And I feel this way because of her conversation with maul during the siege of mandalore. Willing to trust maul and work with him for the greater good. HOWEVER. The idea of thrown activating starkiller as a last resort is compelling AF. Just imagine at the end of season one of ahsoka thrawn is captured by ahsoka but his last standing order is "activate the starkiller protocol" and and in a post credit scene we see his eyes open. And in season two starkiller finds them and just blows thru all the republics defenses. Frees thrawn and gets away. THAT is how you win back the trust of the fandom and THAT is how you make the best TV show in star wars.

@FullFatVideos After her confrontation with him on Malicore and all that she saw him do, I think she would def take a bit. We are often hurt the most by the people that love us. And after the way he turned his back on everyone he loved, killed countless people, and literally tried to cut her head off, I think she would be a bit hurt. We also see that in the Ahsoka series she is a lot more stoic and closed off towards Sabine than she was when she was younger. She's still kind but the affects of all that have happened has definitely caused her to be less trusting and closed off a bit. Also Like was able to forgive his father easier most likely in part not just because he could see the good in him, but because he actually never really had a relationship with him to begin with. Yes he had fought against him few times, but he did not have the same level of investment that he did with Ahsoka. Anakin had abandoned him, but he had not speant years pouring into Lukes life and the turn into a super villain like he did with Ahsoka. Also this type of Jaded response is one we see Lea have in Legends, when Anakin asks for forgiveness she actually tells him she doesn't want anything to do with him. Plus in his story Starkiller is actually used in a great way to allow her to have hope in her master again, and re-ignite some of that compassion within her. So yeah I think his story not only fits in with how we've seen Ahsoka portrayed both in animation and live action, I think it would have been a cool way to take her character and introduce Starkiller. (Also it kinda lines up with what they're doing with her and Anikan meeting up after Episode 4, and her training with Sabine being used instead to re-ignite Ahsoka's old self)

Also a little insight into what you said about Maul. She literally was going to go along with him for about 30 seconds, and that had nothing to do with forgiveness, being kind, and she vertically didn't trust Maul. In fact we see her deny him almost immaditally after he starts trashing Anakin. So I don't think that really has to do with you talking about her kindness. A better example would be the way she treats the clones during order 66, not willing to kill them even though they are def willing to kill her.

I'd love to see Starkiller again and the first game or some version of it being made canon would be fine but my god you cannot translate the second otherwise you open pandora's box. With cloning of force users being a thing you end up with absolutely insane things like not only two if not more Starkillers running around but also it's likely the plot of the third if it had Starkiller and Vader teaming up to defeat Palpatine's new weapon there's a decent chance it could of been a clone of Anakin which could absolutely shatter canon even though it would make for a lot of fun what if stories. I think the way you adapted Starkiller is pretty good but if they did adapt some elements of two it could very quickly become chaos.

Lol, I love this video and I know the feeling. Marrok and Ahsoka single handedly launched me into having to make videos again just so I could talk about Starkiller before it was too late xD I've been missing Starkiller for so long! I feel your pain If you look at some of Starkiller and Ahsoka's Friends (I.E. The Ghost Crew) there are a lot of similarities there too - particularly Kanan who is, like...thematically and even visually nearly identical to Kota Also if you look at Ahsoka as being a new manifestation of the Light Side of the Force (Child of the Chosen One: The Daughter) It's not too hard at all to see Starkiller as her opposite: (Child of Vader: The Son - coincidentally also voiced by Sam Witwer) which may also explain the insane power levels a little bit I like your subtle "Fixing of the Force Ghost Tangibility Sequel Trilogy" Problem lol

This is how i would recanonize him. I would remake the 1st game and rework all the storyline elements you'd have to in order to get the game to fit in between episodes 4 and 5. Instead of starkiller being a key cog in forming the rebellion, he should become vaders inside man in it, trying to help him find luke and also help to keep the rebellion in the war just enough so that palpatine will be ripe for the kill when luke is found by the end of empire strikes back. Since disney has really gone with the whole idea that vader knew there was nothing left for him with palpatine after the first death star was destroyed, it fits perfectly there with him using galen to get to his son. Ahsoka could definitely fit into that as well

2:34, This would be the second time Ahsoka kills an opponent in a fashion evoking samurai fiction and her opponent’s body dissolving (the first being the Inquisitor featured in Tales of the Jedi whose body vanished for no established canonical reason and now Marrok, who due to the green mist exiting his body, was revealed to be under Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth’s control, seemingly being an Inquisitor that was killed and then reanimated by her).

This would definitely be cool. I had a theory back in the day that the cloning we saw in Mandalorian with Grogu's DNA would be used to clone Starkiller into an army to connect to Force Unleashed II in a new way, creating an army out of Vader's first, most powerful and uncontrollable Inquisitor to take on The New Republic. But I'm sure Filoni can think of something better.

I've given it a lot of thought, and would personally have Starkiller be a secret Sith Assassin, and nobody knows about him because he leaves no survivors. Obviously wouldn't be as powerful as the games, but still nigh unstoppable. It isn't until he meets another a character with plot armor that someone finally gets away and manages to spread the word. Also, he would totally be wearing a version of the Sith Stalker armor. Because why not.

Since the Ahsoka show was announced Ive been hoping for Starkillers return. YES HE HAS TO BE NERFED IT IS NOT A VIDEOGAME. Anyways.. Having the dichotomy of Ahsoka vs Starkiller, they were both trained by the same man and theres so much that can be done with that. Starkillers training would not be completed because Vader cast him aside inorder to focus on his son. However where Ahsoka turned to the light, Galen went deeper into the darkside and is now the big baddie for the Filoni movie. Just an idea, but Soooo much can be done with their characters, we know how intimidating starkiller can be so he would definitely work as an actual threat to our heroes. Plus Sam Witwer gotta get on the big screen 🙏🙏

Well said. I feel there needs to be a bigger dark side threat than just Thrawn. Even Baylan and Shin seem to have ulterior motives. To get everyone involved - Ahsoka, Luke, Ezra, Sabine, Mando, Bo, etc. - there has to be a huge threat. Thrawn? His undead army born from Nightsister magic? Morgan? Baylan/Shin being caught in the middle? Add in a terrifying dark side assassin in Starkiller to be Thrawn's right hand, plus all the chaos with the Grysks, then yeah, you have a massive galactic threat.

It would be a real shame if Disney never brings Galen back. At the time he was written, he became a huge part of what kept Star wars alive, and his character didn't get the same backlash Ahsoka did when she was first introduced. Yeah, they fixed her, but Starkiller didn't need to be fixed.... well... until they broke him in Staw Wars Force Unleashed II. Still a good game, but not as good as it could have been.
